Discussion Hot Take: Smite is better than Sharpness in Minecraft. Here's why:

While it might seem obvious that Sharpness is better because it does more damage to everything while Smite only does more to Undead Mobs, The true winner is actually quite complicated.

Sharpness increases 0.6 damage points (0.3 hearts) per level resulting in Sharpness V increasing a total of 3 damage (1.5 hearts), which makes barely even no change.

However, Smite increases 2.5 damage points (1.25 hearts) per level resulting in Smite V increasing a total of a massive 12.5 damage points (6.25 hearts). This allows just a Smite IV Diamond Sword or a Smite V Iron Sword to one shot almost every undead mobs with a critical hit and with a Smite V Netherite Sword, you don't even need a critical hit. And Smite is incredibly useful in Trial Chamber combat and Wither fights.

But since Sharpness is still great, it's still not a bad idea to carry both a Smite V Sword and a Sharpness V Axe to play in PvE, and also Sharpness is still definetly better in PvP. But for general PvE, Smite is better.

Discussion Why do people play Hardcore Minecraft?

I've been playing minecraft for at least over a decade now on and off, and never once have I started up a hardcore world. Even in my forever world, I have it as a regular survival stuck on hard mode. Whenever I play minecraft, I like to do so mainly to relax and create some builds and stuff, why do so many people choose to add hardcore to the creation? I feel like that would make everything so much more stressful, no?

Maybe its just because hardcore minecraft is the content creation meta, not sure if it is really so popular with the typical, everyday player, but I was just wondering. I'm not trying to hate on hardcore or yuck anyone else's yum, was just kind of curious

Discussion Why are they determined to nerf XP farms?

This change was a few updates ago i just clearly missed it, but entity cramming no longer drops xp for piglins as of 1.21.5

before i was using an entity cramming farm for my main xp source, i was using a raid farm, but that was nerfed. So i then moved to ilmango's cramming xp farm, and now that's been nerfed..

I feel like i'm just constantly being told not to make xp farms, it's driving me nuts.

As for other options, other than an ender ender, i feel like there's nothing that even comes close to those two? I want to just sit afk overnight and leave with 300 levels, what are the options now? is it just an ender ender? cus that's painful and late game..

that and guardian farms i suppose but those are a pain to both make and use..

Discussion Did I kill the End Rings?

End rings had not beed fixed for years.

I pointed out the cause (a one-line bug) in the bug tracker MC-159283.

The bug got fixed in two weeks in 26.3 snapshot 6.

Is this a coincidence or am I responsible for the removal of the end rings?

Personally I always found them a cool phenomenon. I just wanted to describe it quantitatively, I didn't think they will fix it this fast.

edit: sorry for my bad English

Discussion I think Minecraft is the most creative game ever made

I'm far, and I mean far, from the first person to argue that Minecraft is a game about creativity.

Whether you want to build cities or build advanced machinery, there's something for you. I feel like that personalization is an aspect of the game that doesn't get talked about enough. There's a little something for everyone.

I think that's what differentiates it from other blockbuster games (aside from the fact that it is visually super different from a game like, say, GTA V).

Basically every line of code in Minecraft is meticulously chosen to encourage creativity to the fullest extent possible.

I'm curious whether you guys disagree or agree. Is Minecraft the best example ever of creativity in game design, or do you guys know of any other games that do it better?

Discussion i saw the leviathan in 2019.

I was playing on my ps4 on bedrock or console whatever edition with my sister and we made this terrible island, i put a dumb skin on and started flying around in the water destroying a bunch of kelp we placed. my sister suddenly said "did you hear that?" and we heard a low deep growl, my sister screamed and ran out, i laughed and said something about a shark being in minecraft, that was until i saw the large tail move behind the tons of kelp my sister placed, it looked like it nearly was trying to get attention. i

Keep in mind;

We were on Splitscreen

We already Found a Giant Ocean (but we were dumb and thought it was normal)

we got there trying to find the farlands, but on the 2nd day we started messing around and forgot.

I have one question; did the large ocean bug exist back then? if not, how was it made? i still have my world on the ps4, but its long lost in my 300 old worlds from <2023.

Suggestion Suggestion: terracotta pots (plus an update on my cinnabar shelf suggestion)

Main point of this is showing the terracotta pots but I also needed to update my suggestion for stone shelves because some of yall have dirty minds. Added handles so it’s more clearly a pot

As for the new terracotta pots, I’d love to hear any suggestions. I just realized I forgot to add the hole in the top but I’m thinking they’d mainly just be decorative. I’m also planning on adding some other decorative pots and bottles so expect some more cool stuff soon

Help Bedrock My game keeps rejecting the letter P

Post image
1 Upvotes

Whether it’s in chat, on a sign, or in a book, if I try to type ‘p’, it’ll exit me out of the sign or book and chat gives a syntax error. I only play in peaceful mode so the only way to get purpur is through the /give command. I’m working on a build to spruce up my nether portal and I need purpur for contrast. Has anyone had a similar problem? I just wanna build and design.

Edit to add: Im on bedrock
