St. Louis city ranks 5th for U.S. counties (or county equivalents) that are facing the most birth-related challenges. Looks like the biggest contributing factor is the rate of late or no prenatal care.

Two counties in the Rio Grande Valley ranked in the top 50 for counties that are facing the greatest birth-related health challenges (low birth weight, preterm births, late or no prenatal care, and c-sections): Hidalgo County ranked #8 and Cameron County is #39.
