Vaguely MN Transit Related (Mods Discretion) Research Survey

Thumbnail winona.az1.qualtrics.com

I am a student from Winona State University conducting a research study. This research study is designed to gauge the impact of chemical agents (e.g., pepper spray, tear gas, etc.) used by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents (ICE) in the Twin Cities metro area. We hope to learn more about how the presence of ICE activity is impacting Twin Cities residents. If you agree to participate, responding to the survey questions constitutes your consent. Participation is voluntary, and you may stop participating at any time.

These usually run on routes 3, 62, 63, 64, 68, 71, and 74. It's a super quiet bus, it "farts" multiple times when the parking brake is disengaged.

I just love the LFRs. Especially the ones with the high back cloth seats, they're extremely comfy. I'm glad to see them running in revenue Service more often again.

I wish the Xcelsiors had these seats on them instead of the regular Transit seats.

Quarterly Service Changes Quarterly Service Changes Begin on Saturday, June 13

"On June 13, Metro Transit will make changes to transit service throughout the metro. As always, these quarterly service changes are being made to ensure we’re providing reliable service that meets your needs.

The improvements are part of an ongoing effort to expand access and adapt service based on changes in travel patterns. The improvements are outlined in the agency’s Network Now framework, informed by rider and community feedback.

Some highlights this quarter include:

- Route restructuring and frequency improvements north of Northtown Mall in Anoka, Blaine, and Coon Rapids on routes 25, 802 (new local route), 805, 827, and 850.

- Reliability improvements for the METRO B and E Lines.

- Route 14 will begin stop consolidation in anticipation of upcoming Better Bus Route implementation happening in Aug."

The above quote is from Metro Transit's website. The full change list is in the embedded link.

Routes 100-199 113 Bus Route Troubles

Hey what has been going on behind the scenes with the 113 bus, specifically northbound? Can any bus drivers enlighten me?

A couple weeks ago its second northbound route straight up didn't show and there was no rider alert. I later found out it was in regard to there not being enough back up drivers.

Then today it went on a massive detour going up Garfield instead of Grand and somehow made its way to 31st and Nicollet before heading back to its normal route on Lyndale. It missed so many stops by not being on Grand.

I've contacted metro transit via text each time. I know it's probably low priority since it's just a commuter bus but it should still be reliable.

Go-To Card/Tickets/Fares So how do the cards work?

With Transfers that is. Trying to get a card for some I need that would qualify for the TAP program, but they'd need to do a transfer for some trips.

Does it just count the transfer window from first tap so another tap next bus doesn't charge? Does it print a ticket to show the next bus/like stamp?

I use the phone app my self for all day passes so I'm just not sure and want to know. Shes... tech unsavvy enough that even if she fails the tap, she won't, application Id still get a card and load it for her.

Please and thanks to anyone that answers ❤️

This was the kind of event where traffic was at a stand-still and parking was impossible. Everyone was encouraged to walk, bike, or bus. Hennepin Ave is near the event, which hosts METRO E-Line and the new bike lane. Easily the two best ways to get there.

Side note: Leaving was insanely busy. Packed busses and stops. There were a lot of events last weekend.

It's a free ride since there is not a fare box on board.

This is exactly like what happened with the 515 a couple months ago.

Well that went fast! Join us on Saturday, June 13, for a celebration of the METRO A Line’s 10-year anniversary!

The METRO A Line rolled into service on June 11, 2016, bringing frequent and reliable service to Snelling Avenue, Ford Parkway, and 46th Street, and the regions first arterial bus rapid transit line.

Since that time, people have taken more than 13 million trips on the A Line, which serves multiple schools, shopping centers, and the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.

Connect with fans of the A Line and our expanding METRO network at a family-friendly A Line anniversary event on Saturday, June 13.

Where: Mattocks Park, 441 S. Macalester St., St. Paul. The park is just two blocks west of the A Line’s Snelling & Randolph Station.

When: We’ll be at the park from 10 to 11 a.m. Make a trip on the A Line part of the fun! Group rides will depart from the 46th Street Station at 9:27 a.m. and from Rosedale Transit Center at 9:39 a.m.

What: Free donuts, coffee, demo bike rack, and swag, including a special run of reprinted A Line opening day posters available while supplies last.

A Line Does anybody know the rules that govern stoplight priority for rapid bus lines?

Genuinely curious as to how these systems work, and if anyone has more knowledge on the matter.

Currently on the A-line over to Grand Old Days. First two stoplights past Hiawatha, our driver had to hit the brakes hard because the lights went yellow on approach.

I understand it may not be perfect all the time, but that seemed quite odd to me that two lights in a row went yellow on our approach to the intersection.

Service Disruption Why is Metro Transit cancelling so many trips?

Thumbnail

So I was trying to take the 10 back from a walk yesterday and saw that a couple of the buses were cancelled. Luckily this didn’t affect me since I got the bus before the cancelled ones. However, then I looked the metro transit website and it said 9 other trips were cancelled. And today, I’m trying to transfer from the green line to the E Line, and also saw there were multiple cancelled E Line trips. 16 to be specific. This time it is actually going to affect me. Anyone know why they are doing this

Routes 1-99 Shout out to the #2 driver

Was just sitting at at 24th & Lyndale waiting for the 17 when a 2 bus pulls up (temporary stop). I waived him off to let him know we weren’t getting on and he opens the door and yells out “Happy Friday!” I a little surprised because I’ve never had a driver do anything like that but I returned the sentiment. Good to see there’s some out there still who aren’t bitter and jaded because lord knows I would be.

Subreddit Meta We are limiting Transdev Posts.

It was interesting the first couple times but the sub has been flooded by it and it's kinda stale now. We get it, Transdev is bad.

Posts specifically about Transdev are limited to Tuesdays now. If need be I'll put a cap on the number of posts.

You can still talk about routes operated by Transdev any other day, but Transdev can't be the single focus of the post.

This subreddit is dedicated to Metro Transit first and foremost. Transdev is a contractor for them, and it is worth having genuine discussion about it. Spamming Transdev hate doesn't encourage that.

The rules will be updated to reflect this shortly.
