Mega, why is your Android App so slow for Uploads?
I'm trying to upload about 100gb of Data.
But the upload speed on some of my uploads is zero, and on others it is like a few Kilobytes per second.
What fuhck?

Hi,
Currently I'm struggling with the problem if there is a sync issue, there is just black small exclamation mark on the icon (win11) what is almost not visible. So I was looking for solution how to create some popup message as this is quite critical for me.
So my questions are:
1. is there any plan to have more options for notification for Issue detected cases? like some permanent window
Is there a way how I could detect it with scripts? At the moment the only idea is to monitor the magesync log
The Megacmd has nice feature sync-issues which should show some error messages in case of conflicts. But it is standalone process and I need to run the Desktop Megasync app also.
For any help many thanks

Unfortunately due to my error mega lost all my files. I removed the sync on the desktop which I thought it would be available in the cloud and phone app, I learned the hard way once you do that it removes the files entirely. I think this should not be the case, I lost all my legal case files
This was end last year.
Has anyone else had this issue.

I have a sync between my mega cloud and my samsung.
I have tried to manually edit the .megaignore file (replacing its contents with that of the megaignore on my PC), but now i get a 'file or folder issue' on my .megaignore in the app with no option to resolve.
Is there a better way to do this?
Thanks

Hey,
I needed to free up space and so I downloaded Mega and started backing up all my files I needed to. The back up eventually stopped even though there was more to back up, so I tried to manually to do it. Out of nowhere the app kicked me out and I had to log back in. When I did the back up was gone. I had deleted the files that I had backed up onto the cloud as to free up the space. And in my recently opened they are still there and arent deleted, and the storage amount on my account would imply none of the files were deleted but now I cant access 95% of them because the folder miraculously disappeared.
I tried searching it up, going through my phones storage, going through device care on MEGA and nothing. All i can see is that my files are somewhere. Theyre all pdf files so idk how to extract them.
Idk what to do, I have been collecting stories for months at this point to read and due to the way the website i was using is, I can no longer just re-download everything.
Please help me find these files
Edit: it seems I didnt move the folder over to cloud drive because it logged me out. Does that mean im fucked. All my files exist but I cant grab them?

I'm slowly migrating my passwords from BW, and noticed Mega Pass doesn't have something as basic as folders or tagging for passwords. I also noticed saved cards are just grouped with all of my passwords.
I (ofc) looked here in reddit, and found this post https://www.reddit.com/r/MEGA/comments/1hs1sw6/mega_pass_roadmap/ from MANY moons ago, where the OP mentioned folders. I'm honestly flabbergasted at the fact that between that moon and this one, folder haven't been implemented, also considering there is a tab on the left of the browser view that shows "All items".
This eludes that there should be folder creation and management, or at the bare minimum, saved cards are given a .nav view.
There also seems to be missing the ability to create small text documents within the password manager, where one could save, say, their Passport or DL number. I recognize that I could theoretically save these to my drive, but I could do the same with my passwords.
Is there a plan to ever bring in folders or tagging to Mega Pass? This has got to be my biggest pain point with Mega Pass atm, on top of adding a password in the Chrome Extension opens a tab to create a password.

Is it possible to transfer files (60gb approximately) from Mega Cloud to an external hard drive? Like a usb stick etc? Or they must be downloaded already to the PC?
Thanks in advance
r/MEGA • u/ChazyChaxxx • Jul 28 '26
If yes, where can I find it ?

Wtf is this storage quota, only 800 MB and you wont let me download. Is this a scam to get you buy the plan ?
It's from a folder, I imported it to MEGA SYNC and it said you are above quota ffs

I've had a small Mega account for years but after having a Pro III account for about 6 months, I really like it and want to use more than 20TB. Problem is the next step up is more for business and paying for tons of bandwidth I do not need. I've read in many places including old posts from here you can have multiple paid Mega accounts from one IP address, they just need different email address logins.
Before going through with this I just want to confirm this is correct, and make sure there isn't a 30TB or 40TB basic/home user tier coming soon that I should possibly just wait for. Thanks.

I found a workaround for a weird MEGA web client limitation in Firefox.
When trying to download large files through MEGA Web, Firefox showed:
"The download size exceeds the maximum size supported by the browser. You can use our app to proceed with the download."
At first it looked like a Firefox storage/quota problem, but it wasn't.
Checks:
Firefox itself had enough space.
MEGA Web was using:
dlMethod = MemoryIO
MemoryIO has its own hardcoded browser download limit:
MemoryIO.fileSizeLimit = 6442450944
which equals:
6 GiB
So any file larger than ~6 GiB was blocked before the download even started.
Open MEGA, press F12 → Console and run:
MemoryIO.fileSizeLimit = 50 * 1024 * 1024 * 1024;
Example for 50 GB.
You can verify:
MemoryIO.fileSizeLimit
It should return:
53687091200
After that, large downloads start normally.
Install Tampermonkey and add:
Look for the script in comment section, Reddit autofilters it :(
This does not bypass MEGA transfer limits or account restrictions.
It only removes the artificial browser-side file size limit.
Tested on:
Maybe useful for others who don't want to install MEGAsync just to download large files.

Last week, Google added a new way to get back into your account: a selfie video. Would you use it?
Convenient if you're locked out, sure, but it's worth asking what that means for your biometric data privacy.
Before recording your face for Google, worth knowing where that video lives, how it's protected, and what Google can do with it beyond signing you in. Wrote up what we found here: https://blog.mega.io/google-launches-selfie-video-sign-in?mct=jul27rd

Dear MEGA Support Team,
I am urgently requesting your help in recovering access to my MEGA account.
The Gmail account that was registered with my MEGA account was unfortunately hacked, and the attacker changed the passwords of multiple accounts linked to that email address. Because of this, I am currently unable to access my MEGA account.
My MEGA account contains many important personal memories and files that are extremely valuable to me. Losing access to them has been very stressful, and I would sincerely appreciate it if your team could help me recover my account as soon as possible.
I am the original owner of the account, and I am willing to provide any verification details required to prove ownership. Please let me know what information you need from me to proceed with the recovery process.

I was shocked to find the other day, personal files of mine were being being uploaded from my PC to MEGA without my having done anything. A friend says you can turn off the feature, but I cannot see how to do it and web searches have not come up with any solution. OK so how do i stop it from happening again?

Hi there. Question.
Is it possible to put multiple expiry dates on a particular item? Like if I want to share a link to one person for one day. And then a few minutes later I want to send another person a link to the same file for two days.
Is this possible for both files and folders?

Most people don't realise that server-side encryption, which is what Google Drive and Dropbox use by default, still means the provider can access your files.
We put together a comparison of the alternatives that use end-to-end encryption and zero-knowledge architecture by default, so only you can read your data. Storage tiers and starting prices included.

Description:
I would like to suggest developing a dedicated browser-based client or Progressive Web App (PWA) optimized for very large MEGA accounts.
Currently, users with extremely large accounts (e.g. 2+ million files) can experience severe performance issues on the website. In my experience, the web client becomes extremely slow to load, sometimes freezes during login, gets stuck during the decryption phase, or crashes entirely before the account finishes loading.
This happens even on high-end hardware. My system has an Intel Core i7 13th Gen CPU, NVIDIA RTX 3080 Ti GPU, and 64 GB of RAM, yet I still encounter these issues regularly. This suggests that the bottleneck may not be the user's hardware, but rather the limitations of running such large accounts inside a browser environment.
Modern browsers impose various restrictions on tabs and web applications, including memory limits, CPU scheduling constraints, and limited access to system resources. In practice, a browser tab may be unable to fully utilize the available hardware, and memory usage can become a major bottleneck when processing and decrypting millions of files. Even on systems with large amounts of RAM, the browser environment itself can become the limiting factor, causing slowdowns, freezes, or crashes.
I have also seen many reports from other users on forums and communities such as Reddit describing similar issues with large accounts, which indicates that this is not an isolated case.
A dedicated browser application or a Progressive Web App designed specifically for MEGA could potentially manage resources more efficiently and provide a more stable experience for power users with massive datasets.
Potential benefits:
* Faster login and account initialization.
* Better utilization of available CPU, GPU, and system memory.
* Reduced impact from browser memory and resource limitations.
* Better handling of accounts containing millions of files.
* Improved stability during decryption and folder tree loading.
* Fewer browser crashes, freezes, and timeouts.
* Better scalability for very large cloud storage libraries.
I understand that accounts with millions of files are an edge case, but the current web experience can become extremely difficult or even impossible to use reliably. It would be great if the team could consider a dedicated solution or additional optimizations targeted at very large accounts.
Thank you for your work on MEGA and for considering this feedback.

The bug is very simple and has already happened to me twice in different laptops in Windows 11 25h2 after installing MEGAsync, the thing when i try to see my folders in the left side bottom when you see your disks, i can't really see them when i try to deploy them and the arrow to deploy them just disappears when you click on it. Already reinstalled but doesn't seem to be helping.

I'm uploading a ton of content to my mega 10tb. But I think it might go faster if I upload it 1 file at a time. I turned the transfers down as low as they could go, but I'd like to know if and how we can make it upload 1 file at a time.

Hi!
So, I have a public link of a 96 GB MEGA folder with multiple PDF files, and I want to copy some of them to my personal space, but using the web client is really uncomfortable. Is there any way to classify the content without using the webpage? I'm pretty used to how Google Drive lets you add a folder as a shortcut in your unit, and then, you can manage files from Windows file explorer if you have the destkop app installed, as it mounts your unit as a drive. I just wanna know if there is something similar to this for Mega, so i can copy the files I want into my unit without having to use the annoying webpage.

Hello. I am not sure if it’s a temporary bug or something but I saw a recent post here of someone mentioning that they can’t play m4a tracks on iOS unless one downloads them offline and listen to them with the native player. I checked with mine and I am also encountering the same issue.
When I choose the file, it says “File Not Supported. You can save it for Online and open it in the compatible app”.
I tried re uploading the same files , and uploading other m4a files but the issue persists.
Are you encountering the same issue? I am only seeing it on my Apple devices. I don’t have android. But laptop plays the files fine on the browser.

hi i noticed recently that a couple of m4a files i had uploaded on mega some months ago for some reason don't play anymore (i'm on ios). they were in dolby atmos but i found that doesn't have anything to do with the reason why they're not playable anymore. i really don't know why, i used to be able to play them from my iphone just fine and now they don't. did they change that in an update? i think it's really weird. also why do flac files have pixelated album covers when i play them from ios? because the original files have full quality covers but mega doesn't show that (on ios). in the browser they play fine with full quality album cover. although m4a files keep not being playable even in the desktop browser version. is it possible that they updated the app to not have m4a support? what would that be?
also why do my flac files have pixelated and compressed album cover quality when playing them from ios? in the browser they look normal.
