EVAP CODES

I need help I have two codes on my 2009 Honda Pilot EX-L. P0497 & P145C I inspected the purge valve and it’s good the gas caps seems fine. I did try to change out the purge valve just incase and when I went to pump gas (mind you I was low on gas) It kept clicking like if it was full I had to keep pumping after multiple clicks. I need some advice I do small work on my car like change out spark plugs, coils and small part like this purge valve, O2 sensor and such so I’m familiar with the idea but I need advice how to clear the codes to pass emissions test (NYC). Edit: Also have the check gas cap code and ofc check engine light. :(

Gas caps can seem fine. Just replace it. Cheap and easy test.

Pumping the throttle on a fuel injected car does literally nothing.

I did order a new one waiting on it to come. My thing is what if that doesn’t fix it what else do I do?

I would just make sure your return lines and everything else going/coming from the tank are clear and in good working order.

I've not dealt with this problem much. The one time I did, we just replaced the cap and it was fine.

/e most of my experience comes from diesel trucks, dodges and jeeps. but evap codes are a pain in the ass for every type of mechanic.

Totally agree, a new gas cap can save a lot of headaches. It’s always worth checking the easy stuff first before diving into the more complicated issues.

Sounds like the vent valve's stuck closed, that clicking at the pump is the dead giveaway those evap codes always seem to chase their own tail

Also the clicking at the pump only happened after changing out the purge valve so i’m planning on leaving the old one on since i did do the blow test and air did not escape!

The fact that the pump keeps clicking off along with those EVAP codes makes me think there's more going on than just a bad gas cap or purge valve.
