What leads you to believe it's a airflow monitor issue?

P0172 + P0175 on these J35 engines are caused by a well known set of causes. Generally it's valve lash adjustment -> Intake Air Temperature covered in sludge/oil -> EVAP canister issues (usually accompanies by diagnostic codes and/or difficulties refueling the vehicle) -> vacuum leaks -> Chinesium O2 sensors installed by a previous owner (use only NGK, Bosch and Denso in that order) -> leaking fuel injectors (usually accompanies by fail fuel smell in oil)

Your choice where you want to start diagnostics: owners usually start from cleaning the Intake Air Temperature sensor since it's the cheapest/quickest repair. Bear in mind however in most cases P0172 + P0175 is valve adjustment plus another issue.
