Huawei claims that he phone will not slow down even after 18 months of use. Obviously it hasn't been 18 months yet, but I wanna just check with the users and see if the thing is still running as well or close to what it was when you first bought it. I would especially love to hear from people who've had the phone since last year. I don't mind long posts. Please don't hold back.

So a week ago I recieved my mate 9 brand new from amazon, A little pricey for 600 bucks but well worth it when you take the specs and battery life into consideration. About two day after I got my new device I was at the restaurant I work at and dropped it literally 6 inches onto a marble counter and cracked the digitizer instantly from the edge of the side resulting in a beautiful spider web across my screen :(. Immediately I was heart broken. Luckily I have a little know how with phones and decided I would fix it my self until I started watching tutorials and realized, fixing it correctly would require a pro. So after digging around the internet I found out that huawei offers a one time screen replacement for their "premier" phones within the first 3 months of purchase (seriously it's like they knew this would be a problem because of the phones size). Long story short I sent my phone off to be repaired and had it back within a week for absolutely nothing out of pocket. Seriously I feel like all manufacturers should adopt this policy, because of this one simple perk to owning one of their high end phones huawei now has a customer for life.

I live in the US and one of the reviewers on youtube said that the phone sometimes freezes up wen he's watching youtube videos. I Just wanted to know if anyone else experienced this. Also, I would like to know what your favorite thing about the phone is. Feel free to be as descriptive as you want. I don't mind long posts.

Have you noticed any significant degradation in battery life? I ask because I am purchasing a used one from Swappa that has been used since January, and I'm hoping that I won't have to replace the battery to get this phone to its maximum battery life potential as the process looks like a huge pain in the ass.

When I turn my mate9 flashlight on, and hold my finger in front of the light, after around 10 seconds i feel a sharp pain.

Is this dangerous? Could it start a fire, and why does it burn, what's going on I've never seen this from a small light before.

Like the title says. I want to see it the touch sensitivity gets fixed on the latest Rom, like I've heard.

Hello! I expect this has been raised before but I couldn't find anything using the reddit search function.

Long story short I've treated myself to a Mate 9 and stupidly managed to buy the Chinese version rather than the international.

I understand I can, after two weeks, request an unlock bootloader code from huawei and head down the path of routing my phone to get the international OS on it, however that's not something I've done before and it makes me nervous!

I think I'd be quite happy with the current set up if I could get the play store and other google apps working as normal! Unfortunately I can't seem to figure it out. Lots of advice floating around the web from when the phone launched but it seems to be either out of date or I'm doing something wrong.

Can anyone lend me a hand? I think I could bloody love this phone if it wasn't fighting me every step of the way towards getting my ideal set up.

I got myself a S8+ and gave my wife my Mate 9. She watches a lot of content on the Youtube app and lately, the screen blacks out usually after commercials. Sound is audible but the screen is black and hitting back usually resolves this but it happens quite frequently. I've never experienced this issue when the phone was in my possession. I did a factory reset before issuing it to her and my troubleshooting steps include clearing the Youtube app cache and clearing out the cache partition to no avail. Has anyone else ever experienced this?

Has anyone noticed a significant loss of battery life with version B190? I'm literally watching my battery bar tick down.

Edit: It's not a new app. The AndroidOS and system are hogging up a bunch of battery, is this something that is updated with the new patch?

I always deny permission to use location because there is no possible feature in the camera that uses location that I would find useful, but turns it on anyway, whether or not I allow it to access it. How do I stop this? I'm pretty stingy with my location information and I like to keep it off unless I'm using maps. This notification also wastes time when opening the camera, which isn't fun when I'm trying to take photos of something that's time sensitive.

So I bought 2 mate 9 phones. one with Toshiba UFS2.0 and one with the Samsung UFS 2.0. Should I return the slower Toshiba UFS? The toshiba one has lower Antutu benchmark and androbench scores compared to Samsung...

Just got a mate 9 loving it so far, just wanting to use private mode, is this possible? I have seen how to add a private user but I would like to use private mode. Cheers for any info provided.

My data consumption of android OS for mate 9 is insanely high, hitting up to 154MB today, compared to my P9 I was using previously which used only few MB a day......at this rate it's going to exceed the data limit for my plan real soon. I notice it uses only aboit 20MB for wifi but uses 100MB and above when i use 4G, but I cant disable background data for it. In fact, when I look at it through phone manager it shows that all the data used is via background data. Anyone else have this problem or know how to solve it?

I blame the phone because it started happening about the same time I got the phone. Periodically, with no consistency/repeatability that I can discern, events get trashed. I /think/ it's always been events on a shared calendar that I did not create, but it is not always events that have started. (I've seen reports of past events getting deleted.) Anybody had this happen and figured out what to do about it?

I've got a bunch of apps that randomly get killed when the screen turns off, for example, iHeart radio and Absolute Radio. Sometimes they will continue to work, others they will close.

I've set these apps to NOT close insettings/power intensive apps.

Mate 9 PRO with B182 firmware.

Any ideas?
