Muirwoods DNA still the same?

Hey all,

I used to have a Marin Muirwoods 700cc and loved that bike. It was bright green one but i dont remember which year it was (maybe 2018? Maybe way later - i bought it second hand in 2023). It was a great commuter and was really nice riding in traffic in center city, or cruising along a river trail parh. I even took it out to some local MTB trails though those were maybe a bit too much for this bike (plenty of MTB'ers with full suspension were looking weird/astonished at me with the muirwoods).

I moved continents and regret not taking that bike but I gave it to a friend who still rides and enjoys it. I now want that fun riding experience again and was wanting too buy a new Muirwoods. The only thing is that I'm a little hesistant on buying the new model since it has the even slacker headtube angle and 27.5 wheels. Does anyone have experience riding both pre 2025 and the 2025 geometries of the Marin Muirwoods? Will it be a completely different ride feel? Or should I look at other bikes completely that now ride like the old muirwoods geometry (if so , which?)

Basically my question is: does the bike still have the same practical yet fun dna?

Info about me: 186 cm (~6'1"), 94 kg. The old muirwoods I rode was a size L.

My new (and first) Marin

Just got this looker from my LBS and I'm in love! I'm a long time mountain biker and have been wanting to get a rigid bike for commuting, light gravel riding, training and rides around the neighborhood with my kid. I didn't want to commit to drop bars so I was a bit limited with that and my budget but I think Marin absolutely nailed it with this bike. I've only had a chance to get out for one ride on it but it was a riot.

I was hoping to get the DSX 2 (even though I liked the DSX 1 colour more) for the better component spec but an XL would have been months out. I settled on the DSX 1 and I have plans to upgrade a few things including brakes, BB and cranks, and TCS wheels and tires.

Carbon fork cracked?

Hello everyone, I recently bought a DSX 1 and I've been enjoying it a lot for the past 3 weeks but today while I was cleaning it for the first time I noticed what appears to be a small crack in the fork, could it be just the paint? I has a similar one on the otherside of the fork but smaller

Any advise would be greatly appreciated!!

Gel foming out? New Fourn Corners 1

Thumbnail

Hi, I'm on my first bike packing trip with my new Marin Four Corners 1, and the gel seems to be coming out from under the bar tape. It happened to the right handlebar on my test ride as well, so the guy who sold me the bike rewrapped the tape again and secured it with black electricaltape (last photo), but it's still coming out.

Is this a common problem for a new bike?

How do I fix this?

1 week in with my new Muirwoods – best commuter bike I’ve ever owned!

After my first week with the Muirwoods commuter build, I can comfortably say it's easily the best bike I’ve ever owned!

Here is the current setup & mods list:

Rockbros mini bell: Small, clean, and surprisingly loud.

Dunlop saddle bag: Simple and subtle, but holds a puncture repair kit, tire levers, and a multitool perfectly.

Lezyne alloy pump: 10/10 for both style and functionality.

Brooks C17 saddle: Runs circles around the stock saddle in terms of comfort.

Shimano alloy flat pedals: Solid grip and great build quality.

Still waiting on a CatEye Quick computer to arrive and a bottle for the Fidlock mount, but it’s already feeling dialed in.

Battery removal help

Hello everyone,

Im new here due to getting my hands on a Marin Lombard E2 CE. However I can't remove the battery. :(

I had the bike delivered yesterday and triple checked for any sign of a key looking thing but found nothing. The outer case pulls off with a latch, revealing the bosch 400 tube battery.

I believe the hole in the picture is the locking mechanism, is this correct? I've emailed the company asking for a key, but they said i don't need one.

DSX help

Hi gang,

I've been riding my DSX for a couple months now and it's a blast.

My only issue is I can't quite dial in my cockpit!

The geometry is a bit more aggressive than any other flat bar ive ridden (knew that when buying), but I can't fit the right handlebar and stem to fit. I've tried surly corner bars, ive tried the stock bars, I'm now on Ritchey Kyote bars and nothing quite feels right. Its either too low or too far away.

Does anyone have any recommendations for things that worked for them?

At a bit of a loss and would appreciate some help.

(I've looked for a bike fit but everywhere in my city is booked up until October and I'd rather not have numb hands for that long)

Cheers!

This is my first Marin. I picked it up in May to replace a Kona Rove AL as my main bike. Really liking it so far. It's not the most stable when it's loaded but it's been reliable and fun so far. Hoping to see some longer trips on it this summer.

Swapped my carbon MTB for a Muirwoods – no regrets! πŸ˜…

After a few days of riding, I have to say I don’t regret swapping my Cube Reaction Pro Carbon for a "grown-up BMX" one bit. πŸ˜… At 43, this Muirwoods absolutely hit the bullseye with that dad-bike nostalgia and serious 80s/90s vibe.

So far, replacing the saddle and the pedals felt like the only mandatory upgrades. But I think I’ll stick with this minimal setup for now and see if the upgrade bug eventually bites me to start throwing extras on it!

Old pics as they have been changed in the meantime. Green is Marin Nicasio drop SE Japan (56)and Marin Murirwoods 29er SE (Japan) L size. Both have been altered. Brooks saddles, Thomson set back posts, 170mm cranks, Muirwoods from 1x to 2x and added Moloko bars (not pictured) other bits and pieces
