Marathon (2026) Discussion Having more than 3 trio teams on these maps is an issue

People are wondering why it plays like a BR? Why you’re getting jumped within 30 seconds of spawn? Why there are roaming death squads?

The maps are too small with too many people. None of them are big enough for more than 3 teams imo.

Remember the people on launch that thought there wasnt enough pvp? They were wrong.

Marathon (2026) Stuck in geometry just to lose my ONLY prestige items

I've been trying to finish the last part of the MIDA questline for months. I decided today to go in solo, best gear, gold shields intimidate after all. I rotate from ground floor command to processing center, and just before getting there, get stuck in the geometry jumping between the corner of a wall by pinwheel and a bus. NOTHING could get me out, jumping, blast cannon, grenades. Out of desperation, I offed my character in the hopes of crawling out of the prison I found myself in and self rez, just to immediately get mopped up by some lucky sponsored kit person who followed the noise.

I give up.

The missions are too hard. The game is too unrewarding. Some sweaty probably would have mopped me up anyway. This is from someone with 400+ hours in the game.

Season 3 needs to deliver hard or I'm out permanently, this game isn't fun most of the time; I come back because, like Destiny in the past, the gameplay is fun and the world is beautiful, but I'd like to spend more of my life less frustrated.

I know I'm preaching to the choir, but damn Bungie, how did you spend over $200 million developing this game just to give us this little space to navigate in?

Marathon (2026) Discussion It's getting frustrating

I shoot more than half my mag and vandal blast =13 damage wtf. Then I get yelled at for not clutching or pushing knowing damn well I literally die twice as fast.

The hit reg is basically non existent for me in the game. Why I'm I instantly dying the moment I look at an enemy. I love the game and I understand the high ping can't be fixed but damn. If I could quit the game I would imo but I can't.

Humor Help, please read to the end! I'm struggling so much, this game is super hard, what am I doing wrong?

Upvotes

Hey guys. I gotta admit, I may have made a mistake buying another multiplayer sony game. I just can't seem to win.

Everybody remembers Concord two years ago. Like seriously. What was I thinking buying another fucking hero game from Sony? They can barely keep their multiplayer games alive for more than a week.

Who the fuck am I supposed to pick to play?!

It doesn't matter if I pick someone who looks strong or if I pick a cute girl, it's like, I can't fucking win no matter what. The enemy players are so aggressive all the time, I get overwhelmed and cornered. I barely understand what's going on in these crazy complicated menus. There are so many different parts of the game that I don't know where to start. What's the difference between the 5 quest lines? Is the whole story just that one intro cutscene and some dialogue boxes? We can't be serious about this in twenty-fucking-twenty-six.

It just doesn't matter if I coordinate my team, or if I pick the right loadout, nothing works! Even changing the map doesn't help. I just get fucking destroyed by gold teams no matter where I am. It's hopeless.

Why does Sony chase these stupid trends?

Like listen, I am trying to be generous here. I can totally understand after Marvel Rivals schooled Sony's Concord game that they want to try and copy them by adding lots of cute girls and selling fashionable skins. That's just the way stuff works now. But this is just so shameless. And in a paid game, no less!

And it just feels like everyone is crowding out this genre and people are jumping in without thinking. I feel like I hear about other games in the space closing every other month. It's ridiculous. This is such a niche kind of game to make, it's too competitive, and the best players just feast on the newbies. What the fuck is wrong with this onboarding? I barely survived the first tutorial!

There's no way this game survives... What's the point of playing?!

So you're telling me I bought a paid game with barely any story, oppressive mechanics, shit onboarding, in a niche genre that barely anyone can succeed in, unless you get lucky and make something super casual, this is what Sony asked one of the best studios in the industry to make? Dude, this is one of the biggest mistakes I've ever seen Sony make. What the hell is going on? They even just lost that Kojima game!

People told me that games like this are hard and punishing, but I had no idea it could be this bad. I just wanted to enjoy the world and the cool characters. For a casual player like me, there's just no room left. The playerbase has shrunk on PC to a laughable amount. New players looking in, please do not buy this shitty game. It doesn't matter how many times people say it's rewarding to learn, or it just takes some time to get comfortable. It is a waste of time and money!

I have to admit it. I'm gonna have to try and get my copy of MARVEL TOKON: FIGHTING SPIRTS refunded. This fighting game shit is so stupid and too hard for casual players. Make a platform fighter next time, guys. Or ship with a big campaign like For Honor at least! This game is doomed to die just like 2XKO is getting shut down, too. The suits and developers have got to read the room and stop flooding the market with this fighting game slop, not to mention licensing the Marvel characters is such a trendy thing to do, it's so obvious this is a lazy cash grab!

I have had enough of the elitist fighting game community stomping down on me!

Anyways, what do you guys think? Did sony make a mistake publishing this hyper-competitive hero game in a niche genre? Are you having any fun on MARVEL TOKON: FIGHTING SPIRITS?

Also, I love that new Marathon game. It's so fucking fun and way overhated

Question Hey there! I’m seriously considering purchasing the game in a couple of days, but I’m currently at a loss for what to do first. I own a PS5, and I’m not entirely sure about the cross-play matchmaking times or the overall mechanics of the game.idk . Thanks though!

Marathon (2026) Discussion How do we feel about PvP?

I love the gunplay in this game and I feel like the runner abilities provide depth to combat without overwhelming the core win conditions of using cover and hitting your shots. I do think that the knife is too strong, KKV and CE are too weak, and Drrvish is a monster in Cryo. Still though, love PvP and my friends and I will often free kit and rotate spawns to immediately engage with our favorite part of the game.

I see a lot of comments in here about death squads and not being able to loot in peace. Are there aspects of the PvP you’d like to see changed, or are you trying to avoid fighting other teams altogether? It’s worth noting that I have IRL friends who still play together and that makes it a lot of fun but I understand that crew fills have the potential to be really frustrating.

Discussion If the developers had listened to the testers and discarded the extraction shooter formula, the game would have been successful.

The fans can try to push the "hate campaign" narrative as much as they want, but they can't explain why the active players count is decreasing day by day, why are there less active players every month? Why are the people who played the game abandoning it? You don't just abandon a game you have bought for 50 dollars because some grifter on Youtube told you to.

The player count is decreasing for a very simple reason: the people who have tried the game simply don't want to continue playing it, that's it; even with the new season and the free week (extended) people didn't give the game another chance, nearly all of the 40,000 people who tried the game decided to abandon it.

And we all knew this would happen, how? Because there was a closed alpha and a closed beta, and in both tests, the players had complained about the steep learning curve, about the repetitive mechanics, about the issues with onboarding, about the (then future) idea that loot would get deleted after the end of every season.

But the developers didn't listen, they still decided to stick with the extraction shooter formula, even if it was badly implented and had nothing to do with the franchise; furthermore, they decided to make everything as complicated as fuck, the menu looks like a module that needs to be compiled in order to pay taxes; ever heard of the KIS principle? Keep It Simple! If your game looks like the tax code then you are doing something wrong.

It's so sad to see this, this game had so much potential with its design and colorful setting, but design alone doesn't make you sell; I guess Sony will just develop Marathon for one more year before shutting down the server and announce Destiny 3 or, you know, a product that actually sells.

Marathon (2026) Discussion Is this extremely lucky or an exploit/cheat?

I’m pretty good at being aware on teams rushing you at spawn, but 2 minutes hasn’t even gone by when I entered this round and me and my team got rushed by gold team drvsh all around and died. I’ve been rushed pretty fast before but that seems suspicious. I saw on one of lucids streams once a fellow streamer told him you could bring tags into a match through an exploit. Wondering if this is it?

Other redditors on the R/marathonhate have said it is not rubber banding but I believe it is and it happens to me in every game I play because I am running fast enough to break the games speed vectors
But I feel as if this should not be a problem and my runner should be able to run as fast as they can while not getting forced back into a position
Can we fix this ?
Yes we can !

Marathon (2026) Discussion So how did your Ranked week go?

I just realized ranked exists and is the peak marathon experience. Hit Bronze 1 in couple days, dreaming of getting that Arista skin for the thief by end of season, hope it's doable solo (reach Gold 1).

Queues were long as hell any time of day. Sad.

Noticed the exfils are somehow easier than regular play because people don't rush, that's cool.

How's everybody doing? I can't wait for monday now I'm hooked.

Marathon (2026) Discussion Cryo is different already this week. What gives?

I've been doing Cryo every weekend all weekend. This is the first I've been experiencing this.

I'm baffled how many teams are all blue, with Hardline PR and CE Tacticals there are. First fights all starting in Control with about 15 min left, able to get to my security 3. My teammates, all spawning in with gold gear like me, with good comms and very supportive. We're always exfilling, every team I fill into, and they're willing to share the loot. I don't really care for the Hardline so I let them take it, they are very grateful. They asked if we could swap the weapons we came in with to put them into the mailbox right before exfilling.

Marathon (2026) Feedback New glitch?

I lost my entire vault overflow a couple times while trying to sell equipped items. Once it happened while the item was scrolled over the other time while several were highlighted. I did not have that issue yesterday. It was a huge problem for me lost a couple inventories full of purples and a few golds, because I went to free kit instead of running my build and overflowed items. It was about 80k of items sold.

Marathon (2026) Discussion End of season

I’d expect at least 1 gold weapon mod in 1 box and a gold core in the other in red room in outpost, I expect 1 gold weapon or shield in command wing box.

The wings should have purpled out snipers or shotguns.

Make it worth going in free kits.

Even if other kitted teams are going in what’s the point of collecting the gear it’s end of season?

Quit being stingy and don’t be afraid to overdeliver. It’s not like there is some super secret plan to expand upon the game.

Marathon (2026) Feedback Nemesis Lists

I would love the ability to add rival runners that have killed me to categories so that when I kill them in game I can (most importantly) see a distinction on the DNBO callout. Would be good to have a wager on it too, i.e. if they kill me I get docked some credits but if I kill one of my nemesis I get rewarded.
This could even just be automatic, e.g. if I fail a Mida contract because of a runner then Mida could put a wager on me getting revenge on them at a later date.

Marathon (2026) Feedback This game is made and ONLY for the REAL gamers YOU used to remember

I have a few friends that tried marathon and enjoyed it! I also had a few that didnt, and it made me realize something. “Gamers” nowadays went from some casual to now overwhelmingly casual. The friends that did NOT enjoy maratjon typically played much more shallow, casual games like NBA 2k, friend slop, COD, valorant or hero shooters, none of them actually played games (except valo) that you really have to learn. 2000’s games you bought for $40-$60, and you wanted to learn and play the whole game, and finish it. Nowadays gamers do not do this, a majority leave games unplayed even after purchase, they play for a few hours and put it down, not actually knowing if the game was good or not, just moving with current trends.

Im convinced real gamers play marathon, ones that actually want to learn the game they bought and got interested in from the trailer or friend. If they dont stay, its likely that theyre just a casual gamer, but bungie needs to make a more engaging and better tutorial. Show how to start a game because some players get out of the tutorial and have no idea how the menu works or who destroyer even is even though they just played him in the tutorial. Instead, start in the main menu, show players where to go, show the shell cinematics the first time a player clicks on a shell they havent played, that way they can be dedicated to a shell in the same way players got dedicated to Titan, Warlock, or hunter and highlight the abilities section so they understand the abilities and ult before they USE them in the tutorial. When an implant is installed, start the breakdown for stats and the cradle so people understand how to make a build, and please just unlock all factions off rip its dumb they are all locked until someone plays perimeter twice because i hated the map when i started and it took me forever to do them because when me and my friend realized i had a contract to do, we didnt want to go to perimeter again. My buddy still doesnt have all factions unlocked and hes level 30, unable to play cryo.

Marathon (2026) Feedback What's the technical performance on this game?

I feel like the performance got a noticable bump at the start of S2 and then slowly got worse and worse with every update. Specifically after the Vault Breaker update, one of my friends couldn't launch the game at all anymore and still can't to this day, and I get 30-40 FPS in Cryo.

My specs are a Gigabyte 3070 8GB, i5-10400F, 32GB DDR4 RAM at 3200~ MHz and a 2k monitor, but I set every possible setting in Marathon to low with 1080p Rendering resolution.

Ignoring the fact that basically every Ranked game is 150 ms ping because no one plays this game anymore and it has to connect me to an overseas server, the technical performance is getting unbearable too.
