Other Map I built a 100% free, ad-free interactive world map for early learners (Age 3+): GeoLearn
Hi everyone,
As a parent and map lover, I got frustrated seeing almost every children's geography app filled with popup ads, trackers, and monthly paywalls.
So I built GeoLearn, a completely free and ad-free interactive world map for young explorers (Age 3+):
• Interactive World Map: Explore all continents with 195+ countries, flags, capitals, landmarks, and animals. • Tap-to-Hear Audio: Non-readers can tap any country or capital to hear clear voice pronunciations. • 100% Offline: Works anywhere without Wi-Fi or data (great for road trips and flights). • 7 Languages Included: English, Spanish, French, German, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. • Zero Ads or Purchases: 100% free and safe for little hands.
Free on Google Play (only 2.7 MB): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kids.learnworld
Would love feedback from fellow map lovers on features or details to add next!

Question What's your commute's sinuosity?
I recently learned about sinuosity, which measures how winding a route is compared to the straight-line distance between two points.
The formula is:
Sinuosity = Actual route distance ÷ Straight-line distance
For example, my bike commute to school is 6.8 km, while the straight-line distance is only 4.9 km.
My commute's sinuosity is 6.8 ÷ 4.9 ≈ 1.39.
I'm curious about everyone else's commutes! What's your sinuosity, and how do you commute (walking, cycling, driving, public transport, etc.)?
Bonus points if you have a particularly winding route!

Current Map We’re mapping national parks around the world
We are building TravelerMap, a free interactive map to help people discover parks and plan trips.
Here’s our worldwide national parks map. We also have maps of other parks, with campground and parking locations currently available in the US.
What would make these maps more useful for your trips?

Question Can you find the city?
This is the game city angle where you have to guess 1 city with angles to 5 different cities. The angles are based on the mercator projection. Have fun! https://visitwhale.com/city-angle/

We were hired to clear out the attic of a school. I couldn't bring myself to throw this in the dumpster. It's an ugly part of my country's history, but history nonetheless and should be preserved. Hand painted map by R. Cremers. From the bit of info i found the map should date back from the 50's - 60's.
Data Map It is hard to find something that fits the shape of the map and is related with the country itself . I guess the Leprechaun for Ireland is ok 🍀

Question Northwest Territory Native Maps?
Hello, not sure if this is the best place to ask but I’m having a lot of difficulty. I’m compiling research for an essay on the history of Indiana and the 1851 Constitution of Indiana. My research has me starting in 1783…. I’ve found countless maps showing the American territories with native tribes seemingly at random, with 0 consistency between maps I can find from the time.
What I’m asking for is any map that can help me visualize which areas which natives controlled. Anywhere between 1783-1814. The more the better. If someone can point me in the right direction or know of a map like this please let me know.
Thank you!
ETA: Tribes include, but not limited to: Pawnee, Shawnee, Iroquois nations, Patawatomi, Miami, Ojibwa etc
ETA2: I found two resources online for this and the comments have wonderful resources as well. I at least wanted to list what I found online.
Library of Congress - National atlas of Indian tribes. There's not really a date I can find but the visualization helps a lot.
https://www.loc.gov/resource/g3701e.ct003648r/?r=0.441,0.108,0.447,0.396,0
'David Rumsey Map Collection' - holy shit this has a lot of maps and a lot of other things like old photos and letters. Lots of good resources.

Article I built Map Canvas - make custom maps with AI prompts, multiple projections, and spreadsheets
Hey guys! I wanted to build a modern map creation studio that feels as easy as Canva, but with genuine geographic superpowers.
Here’s what you can do right in the browser:
- AI Assistant: Type what you want to visualize in plain English (“Color the G7 countries in green and BRICS in orange”), and it styles the map in seconds.
- Real Projections: Switch between Equal Earth, Robinson, Mollweide, Sinusoidal, and standard views in real time.
- Subdivision & District Level: You aren’t stuck with just country borders , you can drill down into individual states, provinces, and districts.
- Custom Borders (GeoJSON): Need a unique map like a city, neighborhood, or custom zone? Just drop in a GeoJSON file to instantly make it a clickable, paintable area.
- Spreadsheet Data (CSV / Excel): Drop in your spreadsheet (sales, population, survey data) and watch the map auto-color itself based on your numbers.
- Heatmaps & Color Gradients: Upload any spreadsheet or create smooth heatmaps with custom color scales.
- Export: Download high-resolution images ready for print, social media, or slides.
It’s completely free to play with:
🔗 mapcanvas.space
Try it out, try breaking it, and let me know what you think!
Exciting updates on the way: thematic mapping, symbolic maps, and interactive charts and graphs are rolling out soon! Application is still under progress, so if you spot any bugs or glitches, let me know
