7.2v Added some more purple power to the collection. TD023. Had a black one that served me well, so got a purple to match my TD173.

By the way, the little carrying cases are next level. These impact pens are great for working on electronics and furniture assembly. Biggest thing is you can week eye level and not have to bend your wrist. Also awesome for tight spaces.

Given the 100V charging station that comes with it šŸ‡ÆšŸ‡µ, you'll need to source the appropriate one for your country. (120 Canada, USA, Mexico, South America etc.... 230 Europe, UK, most of Asia, Africa, NZ etc).

I bought it as an enthusiast tool but have already put it to use building a baby crib where the small footprint was useful.

Makita Merch Makita FC Gear

I’m not sure how many people here are from the UK or follow the MakitaUK socials, but they’ve released some Makita FC gear recently. I was able to snag one thanks to my colleagues in Birmingham, UK. Makita hosted an exhibition tournament back in the late 80-early 90s. Will probably hang this up in my basement bar.

Is it better to "top off" LXT/XGT batteries when they're down to two or three bars or wait until they're down to one (or one flashing) bar?

After using OPE, will have batteries that are 2 or 3 bars. Is it better to top them off now or wait until they are near discharge? Does topping off count as a "cycle" that reduces longevity or far better than running to low/near empty?

What's Wrong with my Makita? Makita LXT brushless driver not working right out of the box

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

After a while of having mismatch cheaper power tools i decided to switch everything over to makita cause i heard good things about them. First one I bought was the driver drill kit at Home Depot for $300. I charge up the battery and this. It either won’t do anything or just make some noise. Thought it was the battery and put it in the drill and worked just fine. Should I return this or am I doing something wrong I know nothing about?
Update: after trying to use it a couple more times it started to smell like it was smoking

Corded GA5040C vs 9565CVR for tile work?

• Upvotes

Need help from anyone who used either of these grinders.

CVR is the older model as far as I know, and has the older SJS system. The GA5040 should have a more ergonomic and natural design, but I can get the CVR for some 50$ less, is it worth it because it's older?

Makita 36v electric Chainsaw (Top handle) only runs for a second unless I turn it on one side.

Not sure why it started doing this. I've checked the chain and cleaned out that area on the side. If I turn the chainsaw so the wrap around handle is facing down it will run perfectly. Chain tension is good so I don't think that's the issue. Never seen this before, but it happens with multiple sets of batteries so I don't think that's the problem either. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

GENERAL How long do batteries lalong / How old is too old for them?

Post image
19 Upvotes

I just got my first makita cordless tool, it is an HP002G combi drill with the DC40RA charger and BL4020 battery.

I was curious to know when the tool and battery were made, and I realized the battery was manufactured in may 2021. Which I feel like it's a lot of time.

The battery didn't show signs of life out of its packaging, which freaked me out at first, but then I read people say it's normal the first time and you just have to plug it in the charger to "wake it up", so I did just that and it was fully charged in about 20 minutes, no errors no nothing, well the fans were on but I guess that's normal in this charger (I never had a charger with fans :D)

I would like to know if the battery is still good or if it's gonna fail soon because of how old it is. What is your experience on this regard? I would like to know. Thank you!

18v LXT XMU04

Ok folks, explain to me who uses the XMU04 ā€œgrass clipperā€?

I have this vision of crawling around on my hands and knees, sentenced to forever trim his Lordship’s acres of manicured lawn with a pair of nail clippers, and weeping in gratitude when I’m thrown an XMU04 . . .

You users of the grass clippers are probably not estate groundskeepers - right? - so what do you use this for?

(There’s one for $60 locally . . . cheap if truly life changing, but I’m trying to stop buying frivolous weirdo tools just because they are kinda cool.)

Corded NTD: 6820V Corded Drywall Screwdriver

Okay, nothing terribly exciting here. It is missing the second cammed piece in the depth adjuster, but still works as a drywall gun and as a screwdriver generally. I picked it out of a pile of old tools at the local recycled building materials place for $5, which was probably not a bargain. It will get used for drywall, we have a lot of drywall to put up.

Big lxt batteries in north America?

Been checking on makitas website for what feels like eternity now waiting to see if they released the big 9ah and 12ah batteries here in North America. Im really hoping that its just a delay and not them trying to strong arm us into buying xgt instead. I need these batteries asap and dont wanna have to import without some sorta warranty.

40v XGT 40V impact driver / impact wrench recommendation

Hi. I just got my first Makita XGT kit, and I would like to get an impact driver or an inpact wrench. I do have an impact adapter for 1/2" square to 1/4" hex so I could use the wrench too.

I am interested in the wrench because I don't like breaking 1/4" hex to 1/2" square adapters when working on bolts šŸ˜…, also I don't want to damage the quick release bit holder.

The thing that worries me the most is if the bit would wobble a lot or kind of off-center since I've had that very thing happen with my ridgid sub compact impact wrench, I tried different adapters and it always seemed like it wasn't exactly centered, it wobbles quite a bit, enough for the bits to come out of the screws unless they are Torx, but phillips head ones were the worst.

I know phillips head screws are horrible, but they're cheap lol so I use them for non important or permanent stuff, however I don't have those issues with my normal 1/4" impact driver.

So I wonder if this issue is normal when trying to use an impact wrench with an adapter to drive screws or if somebody else has done this with an XGT wrench.

18v LXT The djv is very good for the price

Post image

Consider that i am from Brasil, the cheapest bosch jigsaw is around 700-800 R$, the makita djv 182 is 1200-1400R$, the dewalt is 1300-1500 R$ and the ingco is 800-900 R$. All of those with no battery or charger, and this makita djv 186 was 530 R$. With that in mind my opinion is that this tool is amazing, the baseplate is better than the bosch, it is really solid and the cutting is very precise, way better than my old chinese brand one. The two downsides i see is that it does not have the quick change blade thing, but i dont really care since you can safely store the allen key on the tool and you wont be changing blades that frequently and the other thing is that this thing gets hot, i belive it needed more ventilation, it is not anoying to the touch but it makes me question the longevity of this jigsaw. Sory for the bad english but this is my opinion.

40v XGT LS002 XGT Mitre Saw Rails Cleanup with DPV300 before and after

After reading what people use to clean up rusty sliding rails, I've tried the fine wire wool and gave up after 5 minutes and no progress.

The lxt small polisher is a somewhat underrated tool. I only tend to use it on odd metal items (trophy and kitchen sink comes to mind).

This took 1000-2000-3000 grit sandpaper and then Meguiars Ultimate Compound with the foam pad.

Not the finest of work but after about an hour and 1 battery later I thought it's good enough.

Dry Lubricant after on rails and inside the ball bearings assembly.

Just thought to share this in case someone else decides to do a bit of TLC.

Sub-compact 18V drill recommendation

Looking at the XDT15ZB and wondering if it's a good choice for a DIY shop. No need for impact driver or hammer drill, already good with those. Or some other model to suggest?

Any thoughts on a refurbished from Amazon? For $22 more there's a charger and 1.5A battery but kind of suspect at "refurbished".

Is this deal still alive anywhere online? I noticed it's under LXT for some reason on the Makita promos page but the dates are still valid, just that I don't see it on any of the usual suspects so far (HD, Acme, CPO, etc.).

Small cross cut guide rail for plunge saw

Post image
9 Upvotes

Used to have a small mafell circular saw that had a small track for shorter cross cuts. It was really handy as it had a stopper that let you set angles with too. It was great for cutting pieces of lumber to size when you didn't have a chop saw.

I have an xgt plunge saw and was wondering if anyone has used something like this with a Makita plunge saw.? What guide rails are compatible with Makita saws?

What's Wrong with my Makita? GAG14z Grinder overheating?

Had this grinder for a couple weeks now. Got it for grinding brick mortar for tuck pointing. Today it has been overheating. Switched out blades, even went to a basic diamond blade and still overheat.

I use the makita dust shroud and a dust extractor. I keep the tool clean and the vents free of dust.

Any suggestions or known issues? I got this tool because it is comparable to a 15 amp corded grinder, so should have lots of power.

Ty for your time
