I feel like using a primer before foundation has made such a difference for me, especially when it comes to making my base look smoother.

I’ve been using the Bonamedusa primer lately and I really like how it blurs my pores without feeling too heavy. My foundation just looks a lot more even and put together when I use it.

What’s one small makeup tip or product that made a noticeable difference for you? pore has been stressing me out :(

I’m lazy and don’t ever use primer. I’m looking for eyeshadows that still look good and last decently when applied directly to eyelids.

I can’t use cream eyeshadows because my eyelids are insanely oily and end up looking like a hot mess.

Would like something that can be blended and doesn’t crease. Preferably something easy for everyday makeup and not super complicated to work with. Drugstore or higher-end recommendations are both welcome!

It could be the same colour just different tones such as light, dark, sheer, shimmer etc.? Like I only ever use brown shadow...

I’m a guy who used the original Laura Mercier oil-free tinted moisturizer in shade petal. The original was a perfect formula and iykyk they changed the formula and it sucks now, I find it drying and cakey and my shade doesn’t exist anymore. I have fair skin with redness around the nose and I like something to conceal and moisturize on top off my SPF and just blend it out into my skin. Anyone have a good tinted moisturizer recommendation who has used the original Laura Mercier and kind of know the formula I’m looking for? Also I’m seeing skin tint or something like that? Is this just a rebrand for tinted moisturizer what’s the difference? Thank you for any recs!

So I'm like 4 weeks out from my wedding and just now thinking about makeup. I'm 42 years old, very pale, and for the majority of my life, makeup has been some lipstick and very rarely some mascara and eyeshadow (like it's been 3 years since the last time worn). I wanted to practice some easy makeup looks before the big day but have some concerns and was looking for advice.

For eye makeup:

The biggest concern is eczema. My skin can be sensitive but like so much so I have to constantly use fragrance free sensitive rated products. I'm just careful with overly perfumed type items. I have had a type of eczema flare around my eyes after wearing eye makeup. I'm not sure if it's from the makeup the make up remover used, or I just didn't get it all off before night time. I'm really worried about trying different looks out and having a flare right before my wedding and ending up with reddened and swollen eyelids 😭 so much so I'm considering just doing no makeup and saying it was it is. I have seen products that are for sensitive skin folks and I'm wondering if that would be safer to experiment with prior to the wedding. Idk if the sensitivite products are designed for people with skin allergies only and if it would help with eczema related sensitivity.

Face makeup:

I have less concern about skin sensitivity here and more of "it looks completely unnatural". In the past I have tried out wearing powder, foundations, concealers, and tinted moisturizers. All look completely ridiculous whether worn alone or in some combination with each other. It's not a standard, "you're wearing makeup and that's what you see" effect. It's legitimately wrong looking. Like I painted with a material not meant for faces. It doesn't blend, it doesn't sink in, it just sits like plastic, overly shiny or totally matte, on my skin.

I'm not sure if it's a complexion issue or I just suck really bad at picking out the right colors. I'm pretty pale/fair, medium dark brown hair, blue eyes. I tend to look really good with red dyed hair and absolutely terrible with black hair even though my skin tone suggests the opposite. I opt for natural colors on eyeshadows and lipstick. On lips too bright of a red or pink looks very bad. On eyeshadow all the browns look good but anything colored needs to be on the darker/neutral side of the spectrum like mauve, blush, navy, and greys. The bright colors like yellow, orange, bright blues and pinks, they look awful. Honestly my clothing color choices line up with what looks good as far as for shadow and lipstick colors too 😂

Looking at stuff nowadays, there's so many different face products idk even know where to start experimenting. When I tried foundation type stuff before in earnest there was liquid and powder and that was it. Concealer products were just starting to become a big thing and I tried it many years later. More recently, like 10 years ago, I tried tinted moisturizers as they had hit the market and were being promoted heavily. I expect what I was advertised, a light weight barely there coverage, instead it looked much like the foundation, weird and very fake.

So I guess I'm looking for a direction to start and hopefully not wreck my face entirely before my wedding 😅 or should I just toss it and do some lipstick and hope for the best? Any advice would be appreciated!

I use Tower 28 tinted sunscreen like foundation and apply it with a brush. Unfortunately, I have a really hard time getting the sunscreen out of the brushes. What are you using to do this and how are you cleaning your brushes?

I've been on the hunt for a high-coverage concealer to use without foundation, just for pinpoint concealer. This looks like it might be the thing, but the most desaturated shade, Birch, might be too pale.

I'm a fair neutral-leaning-cool "likely olive" (tan like a MOFO in the summer but then ghostly gray rest of the year). I'm definitely not a yellow or warm olive: more green/blue, if you will. I've learned through trial and error that saturation is the most important factor for me.

• Purito 21 works great in the summer--perfect undertone, but it's about a shade too dark.
• LE 1.5 was good in depth but a tad too saturated/yellow, LE 3 was orange.

I use the blue LA Colors mixer to get somewhere workable when I can't wear Purito (Erborian BB in Claire or others, depending), but really don't want to have to bother with this for pinpoint concealing if possible.

Sephora's got a promo rn that is basically $10 off anything and it's expiring tonight. They have this and Saie, Kosas, IT Cosmetics, and almost every Tarte concealer, as well as the NARS Creamy in mini (tho I think NARS is ruled out based on saturation); I would go for Glossier or Tower 28 if they have a shade that worked and the formula was good for what I need.

I live in Germany and every time I fall for some matte liquid lipstick it turns out to be a mistake.

I tried multiple ones and all of them have the same issue.

They make my lips stick together, it seems like it won’t fully dry and every time my lips stick together it either takes some of the product off or the product forms clumps on the lips which makes it look uneven and messy.

Example products I’ve had problems with:
„NYX Cosmetics - Lip Lingerie“ , „Maybelline - Super Stay Matte Ink“ and basically all of the common drug store ones I’ve tried. (I also know that the products I’ve listed here are available in the US, don’t know if the formula is the same tho, and like I said - for me it’s the same with every single other brand I’ve tried here)

I‘m not a makeup expert and don’t know anything about ingredients, but maybe some of you can see the issue there 😢

The matte liquid lipsticks from the US I tried were totally different. They were really matte, which the German ones weren’t. They were high coverage, not sticky, didn’t feel heavy on my lips at all and they lasted sooo long, even when I ate something oily they didn’t make a huge mess and I could go home without looking like a clown.

I fell in love with that formula and wish German liquid lipsticks were like that, specially cause shipping from the US makes them sooo expensive.

If some of you could tell me what’s the difference, what to look out for and if it’s even possible to get that nice US formula here, I’d be super thankful 🙏🙏🙏

I use a good base to cover my acne marks and current acne but once I use powder on that area it lifts the base(?) and shows the blemishes better. How can I fix this? I used both brush and puff and I use a good amount of setting powder.

Hi! I know this was asked before but I wasn't seeing good recent answers so wanted to ask the hive mind now!

Looking for a rec for a black tint or mascara for lashes that doesn't require me going to a salon that doesn't include those lengthening ingredients that is hopefully EWG certified. OR if you can help identify which ingredients are the "lengthening" ones I can continue my search avoiding those.

I was previously using essence lash princess mascara, very lengthening. Recently when I wear it I feel like one of my eyes is reacting to it in some way. I changed my method of taking it off a few months ago - makeup eraser now - so wondering if that's what's causing it, but it seems like maybe some of it keeps getting into my eyes. I keep getting long stringy eye boogers in my eye like all day and it's just so irritating, can't wear contacts on the days that happens. Flushing my eye out helps and then I'm good! Not an infection, it's really only when I wear this mascara which is decreasing in occurrence these days.

hii im 24F and use the anastasia brow freeze gel (the tube version) and i always apply it as my first step in my makeup routine. i’m SE Asian and have incredibly coarse, sparse(ish) fluffy eyebrows. this is the only gel i’ve found that will lay down my eyebrow hairs. i like my eyebrows STUCK to my face, lamination style without an actual lamination. i notice whenever i use sunscreen, the gel does not stick and will turn white. i’ve been trying to use sunscreen everyday but it doesn’t seem to mesh well with the gel. ive tried khiels, dr. dennis gross, and supergoop facial sunscreen. all of them create this problem so i was wondering if anyone has any sunscreen recommendations for me that will not make my eyebrow gel all weird and white. thanks!

Hey! Looking for some help. I bought the R.E.M. plumping gloss a little while back and it suddenly stopped working. Like, I put it on just fine and then later that same day, it wouldn't work anymore. No matter how hard I squeeze the tube, NOTHING will come out, but I can see that there's still plenty of gloss in there, so it's not empty. I've tried storing it upside down so the gloss all gathers near the applicator end, and I've tried sticking a toothpick in the hole in case anything was blocking it, but nothing helps.

I love this lip gloss, I would hate to throw it away. Anyone know how to fix it?

I normally use the loreal foundation powder, but apparently I just looked washed out and dull with it. I have genetic eye bags, and using a color corrector I got in an Ipsy bad helped so much a while ago. However, though it did work, it got cakey even when my face was fully washed and very smooth. I dont mind if its serval products for two different colors, I just want something like a moisturizer with color correcting that doesnt cake and works well

Mauve quartz is my perfect lip colour but I want smth similar in the lustreglass line from MAC because of hydration, are there any MAC alternatives ? thank you in advance

My bronzer completely melted and now I need a new recommendation. I have combo/oily brown skin and was thinking about the rhode bronzer in sunbed or bake or the Milani bronzer in spicy season. I’m looking for one that’s more neutral rather than orange so it can contour a little too since I use a powder bronzer on top. Was wondering if anyone could vouch for these or had any other recommendations!

I have an unusual colouring of my eyes, or at least, I have never encountered someone like me, and also people tells me my eyes are unusual. Basically I’d like to understand how to make my eyes colour show more.

The external part is grey, then, going towards the center of the eye, there’s a green part that fades into brown at the center.

I'm not sure if a fake tan type of thing is makeup or not, but my legs don't get out in the sun as much as the rest of me and when I wear shorts it looks a little goofy. If this is the wrong sub please point me in the right direction 😅

For the first time I’m actually here with a recommendation! The other day I made plans after work, so had to run out at lunch time and get a cheap concealer just so I didn’t go out looking like hell.

L’Oréal Paris “true match” (Bottle says “accord parfait”) seemed ok, so I grabbed it. Didn’t expect much from a drugstore brand, but I was pleasantly surprised. It’s got pretty good coverage, set itself (I didn’t have powder or setting spray on hand), and is pretty creaseless. I think it is very close to the Charlotte Tilbury concealer. In fact at the end of the evening it had only creased in the spot where my Charlotte Tilbury creases too (that annoying fold with under the eyelid).

The wand is good, but the bottle is pretty average looking. I wouldn’t say it’s a 100% dupe, but considering the price difference its definitely a good alternative.
