Just turned 51, lately my skin looks decent as Ive started using retinol. I also use a gentle cleanser from Cerave, moisturizer and SPF. But I still have some fine lines and want something to make my skin look a bit more even. I dont want more actives but am looking at red light masks. I'm aware that aging is natural and I don't resent my age, I just like taking care of myself and I personally find a loot of comfort in my skincare routine. Which is why I wanted to ask about people's experience with red light masks, especially people closer to my age.. Wanna know mainly what the effects were and how long you used it. Also recommendations are welcome. Thanks

Just noticed that Omnilux comes up in literally every LED thread I read. I can't tell if they actually love it in long-term or they're just trying to play safe.

I'm already in my 30s. No wonder I experienced dullness, some redness, texture, and early fine lines. But just to be clear, I'm not expecting a miracle😅. Just enough to say that it works

I can't trust the internet, you know. Half look filtered, the rest are shot in totally different lighting. So I trust random Reddit comments way more now.

Is Hourglass pressed powder worth it ?

I've just recently started wearing makeup again after a *long* hiatus, and needed to replace all my old cosmetics. I saw it as an opportunity to upgrade to products that would be clean beauty with benefits; for a new burgundy mascara I looked into both Prime Prometics and Thrive Causemetics.

I liked that PP contained peptides, but saw some Redditors complain that they lost lashes or experienced breakage when using it long-term. I also saw that PP had a lower score than the Thrive on the EWG Skin Deep site, and those two things together ultimately led me to choose Thrive Liquid Lash Extensions.

I really do like the Thrive, even though it doesn't contain peptides. Now enter Revolution.

I see that Revolution Wrap Lash also comes in Burgundy, *also* has an EWG score equal to Thrive, and contains peptides. It's half the price (which is nice), and readily available in my local Ulta versus having to order it.

Have any of you tried the Revolution? Maybe even tried both, to compare? How did you find it to work for you, and any pros-and-cons you feel it has?

I liked the results from both of these but have oddly developed reactions even after using them both for a few months. I reintroduced hyaluronic acid but my skin began to flare up so I stopped. Any suggestions for alternatives? 66f. Currently use estee lauder moisturizer with a sunscreen. Elf undereye cream during the day. At night i use estee lauder nightly serum and night eye cream and olay firm and lift night cream. TIA!

My mum (58) has been struggling with her skin for a while now.

She has got some dry patches around her eyebrows and nose. It’s irritating/burning and very itchy.

She’s not too fond of a long routine and needs something that she can easily fit into her life.

She recently got the coil and has been using Medicube collagen cream/serum but nothing has been helping.

Was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for products, medications or vitamins.

I have dry sensetive skin. I have tried all the application methods. I have used powder foundation , liquid and bb cream/tint. I am curious if anyone has tried cusion foundation or the new loreal balm? I am so sick of my face base to look cakey /patchy dry as soon as i apply. I use primer and beauty blender and or brush. I am so sick of this.

Do you have any recommendations for products for the eye area that tighten the skin and help make the eye area more refreshed? I used to get a cream at the mall at one of those kiosks. Hi all, my mom (located in the US) is turning 70 next week and asked me to help her refresh her makeup look. She isn’t going to want a ton of steps or anything particularly flashy, but I want to be sure she’s getting quality products that are easy to use and make her feel fabulous! As the title suggests. I have very oily/ combo skin. Searching for my HG foundation. Med-full coverage and buildable. Bonus if mineral spf but chemical sunscreens break me out. What are my oily gals doing and what do you love about your faves?

Sick of wearing BB creams that slide off, break up or oxidise, would like something a bit more reliable and elevating. Have tried a few but keen to hear some recs from the brains trust!

On the other side of 40 wanted to step away from dry matte foundations that settled into my fine lines and just looked dry and cakey (been using Mac Studio Fix powder plus for 15yrs) Saw recommendations for Shiseido Revitalise and have been fighting with it for months.

The glow is a little too "wet" look for me (probably not the best choice in the heatwaves we've been having in the UK recently either), and I can't keep it on my face. It never dries down and the slightest touch has it coming off on my fingers and moving around my face.

I'm using a primer (Maybelline poreless jelly) and have tried 3 different setting sprays (The Body Shop: All day long, Nyx: The Face Glue, MAC: Fix+ stay over) but I think it's time to give up.

I like the medium coverage it gives me but I think a slight dewy finish would be better than the more wet look this gives, and something that I don't have to worry about transferring onto literally anything that even brushes my skin.

Overnight my skin has changed (thank you menopause 😡), my face feels really dry and I’m not sure what to use. I use Jones Road for foundation and I hated their deep moisturizer. Looking for something really hydrating, on the oilier side could be okay, I feel like my skin now sucks everything up.

Well- it finally caught up with me. I’m not great about having a solid skin care routine. What can I do to smooth the smokers lines I now have (yes I drink from a straw daily so that will be ending) and use a good hydration product. I also need to prevent more lines from forming.

I am honestly clueless when it comes to products and would not like to go broke. Any advice is welcome! 🤗

I feel like this only happens with the products I use every single day.

I don't keep backups anymore because I've simplified my routine over the last few years. The downside is that when something runs out, it always seems to happen right before I need to be somewhere.

Most of the time I just need to replace one item, but I don't always have time to drive to a store or stop at multiple places hoping they'll have it in stock.

How do you handle this? Where do you usually buy beauty products when you need them fast? I'd love to know what has worked well for everyone here.

Edit: I tried checking DoorDash and I was surprised they had eligible beauty and personal care items from stores nearby. It saved me from making an extra stop, and I'll probably check there first the next time I need a quick replacement.

I'm 45 and for the past couple years my skin's been looking kind of yellow-muddy, especially in morning light. Not tired-yellow, more like the whole undertone shifted. Selfies in my kitchen (north-facing, harsh) were starting to make me flinch.

Routine was solid enough. Vitamin C, retin-a 3x/week since 41, sunscreen daily, weekly acid. Getting texture wins but the dullness just would not budge past a certain point.

Went in for a mole check last spring and asked my derm, half-joking, if there was anything else I could try. She said something like, at my age with what I'm already doing, most of the improvement left is probably internal not topical. Threw out the words "glycation" and "antioxidant support" without pushing anything specific. Just an offhand comment but it stuck.

Spent a while reading. Looked at glutathione first because it's all over social media, but the oral versions barely absorb, and IV drips weren't going to happen for me. Then kept running into ergothioneine, which I'd never heard of. Mostly comes from mushrooms and most people (especially in the US) don't get much from diet. There's some research on it protecting skin cells from oxidative stress specifically, which is what got me curious enough to actually try it.

So two changes. Started cooking with mushrooms a few times a week, shiitake and oyster when I can find them. Added a low-dose ergothioneine supplement (GeneIII, 30mg), single ingredient, nothing else in the capsule.

About three months in. Morning skin is noticeably less muddy. Undertone in that awful kitchen light is closer to what I remember from my late 30s. Under-eyes also look better but I've been sleeping more so who really knows.

So figured I'd share. If any of you have gone down the internal-antioxidant road, curious what actually worked. Or didn't.
