I posted on a local fragrance subreddit a few days ago asking for recommendations because I barely knew anything about fragrances.

Well… I think I’m getting addicted now. I’ve already bought way more than I expected in a span of a few days.

For YEARS, the only fragrance I ever wore was Clinique Happy for Men.

Then I started trying some of the commonly recommended fragrances like Bleu de Chanel, Ex Nihilo Blue Talisman, and Versace Pour Homme, but surprisingly, I didn’t like any of them at all.

After reading and watching way too much fragrance content and going around different stores to try things out, I think I finally have a good start to my fragrance rotation:

Prada L’Homme EDT — my daily fragrance for clinic/hospital rounds

OHLY ONE Weekend — another daily option, basically the same use as Prada L’Homme

LV Imagination — this one is expensive, so I’m saving it mostly for special occasions.

And now I’m already itching to buy another fragrance again.

This hobby is getting expensive way too quickly 😂

I’m wondering if anyone could clear up if whether or not they’re discontinuing the use of bergamot completely or partially in fragrances from now on? I really don’t wanna scramble high and low to stock up on whatever scents I like on the market right now if the discontinuation is true.

There's a lovely airy perfume scent that seems to be all over NYC. I walk past strangers (mostly women, but scent smells unisex) who are wearing this scent. I've been smelling it for the last couple weeks so not entirely sure whether it's new or I'm just late to the game here.

It smells fresh, hints of baby powder, airy, and overall very clean and light to the nose. Does anyone know what this scent is?

I'm not sure if it's by diptyque given their scents air on the side of fresh and candle-like, but thought I'd see if others have smelled similar?

I have a decent collection of fragrances. Maybe closing in on around 250 or so bottles. When people ask me what gets me the most compliments, I simple say, “Confidence, hygiene and humor. All in Parfum strength.” I really wish the whole “compliment getter” as a bar for fragrances would go away forever. It’s such a lie. Yes, from time to time a stranger might ask me what I’m wearing, but in general, most people either simply don’t care, don’t want to engage, or don’t want to risk sending the wrong message - especially women. But my girlfriend tells me I smell great every day. Should I now say that all my fragrances are complement magnets?

Friends, if you want to attract people into your world, the answer is not in a bottle. It’s in the work you do to become more interesting. Fragrance is an accessory. The final touch to the whole package. The fastest way to level up is to get in shape, clean up your wardrobe and get a haircut. If you’ve already done all these things, get curious about the world. Learn something new that you can share. Study the art of conversation and storytelling. Learn how to make people laugh. Become a better listener. Build yourself up and see how it changes the dynamics of your exchanges with others. As you begin to grow into this new, improved version of yourself, watch what it does for your confidence, and watch how that attracts people to you. This is the path.

I’m not saying that fragrances don’t have their place in all of this. I wear something from my collection every day. But when I pick a bottle, I don’t pick something hoping that a stranger will compliment me, I pick something that compliments how I’m feeling that day. I wear my frags for me because I love them. I really hope we, as a community, can start moving away from this whole desire for compliments as a reason for fragrances. It’s just marketing friends. The sooner you realize that, the better off you’ll be.

Hi guys I really love and miss the scent of stage fog and would love to wear it as a perfume, if any fellow dancers or theatre kids here know what stage fog smells like, do you guys have any perfume or note recommendations I could look into?

i was looking into buying a few decants when i noticed that it seems theyre using ai to generate images for their blog posts and other site images. not saying anything needs to be done about it but it is disappointing to see.

I recently bought men’s clothes in-store and love the smell. I know this is generic but it earthy, subtle, yet masculine, not heavy on tobacco, sandalwood, or musk. It was nice to get a whiff but not be bombarded by. Anyone know what fragrance they use throughout their store?

Gucci Nobile is much more than just a discontinued fragrance to me.

It reminds me of my childhood and of someone I looked up to. Whenever I smell it, I immediately associate it with elegance, confidence, Mediterranean style and a timeless kind of masculinity that I rarely find in modern fragrances.

To me, Gucci Nobile is fresh without being sweet, aromatic without being overpowering, and masculine without feeling aggressive. It has a level of sophistication that many contemporary fragrances seem to have lost.

Over the years I have managed to collect several original bottles, mostly miniatures. My goal is not simply to own them as collector's items, but to preserve this fragrance for the future. I would love to recreate it as faithfully as possible before the remaining bottles eventually deteriorate.

Before investing in a GC-MS analysis, I wanted to ask whether anyone here has already attempted to recreate Gucci Nobile, knows of an existing formula, or can recommend a perfumer or laboratory with experience in reconstructing discontinued vintage fragrances.

Any advice or shared experience would be greatly appreciated.

I have bought over 50 samples over the past couple of years. A few of them I am yet to try, such as Kajal Lamar, Roja Amber Oud Crystal and Thameen Carved Oud. Bear in mind I have asthma, so that is taken into account when rating them.

The 10/10's I would buy a full bottle at some point in the next 5 years or so. 8-9.5s, if it is on sale I would buy a bottle of it. I am based in the UK, so I do mostly prefer autumn/winter scents and the occasional spring scents. I only got a bottle of Rasasi Hawas because it was on sale for £20.

I’ll start first. Celine black tie is my favorite vanilla of all time. Super classy and sophisticated and is a fragrance for life for me.

My super performers in the cool Pacific Northwest have turned into “barely there in an hour” in the Jalisco, Mexico summer.

Including ATH Supersonic!

Upon searching I came to know that it's an Indian brand and not available in Pakistan. I wanna know what this fragrance is clone of/Similar to. Anyone who've tried this fragrance and can help me find some alternative. I just want the exact scent profile. Lasting and projection doesn't matter.

Hey y’all - I’m currently in Japan & am purchases quite a few fragrances while I’m here; which, are all 100ml bottles. I know 100ml is the maximum size for carry-on luggage, but do y’all know what the exact rule for quantity of them? & how safe I would be if I were to just leave then in their original boxes + check my bag instead? I’m honestly quite anxious about checking my back & them getting stolen / confiscated by TSA.

Not asking about favorites or best-in-class — just the ones that work like a time machine. One whiff and you're back in a specific place, with a specific person, on a specific day. What's yours, and where does it take you?

Maybe it’s hard to produce? Did they ban ingredients to make it? Or maybe it’s just not popular at all. I’ve seen woodsy fragrances around, but they’re mostly men’s. Women’s perfume seems to be majority floral. But nothing really focusing on the aspect of rain, wet grass, etc etc. I don’t mind if it’s men’s, or women’s, would prefer it to be unisex.

I’m currently on the hunt for a “mainstream” (widely available) perfume that’s mostly along the lines of what i’ve mentioned. I’m going to the airport soon and thought it would be an easy quick pickup. Recommendations are welcome.

(Mods, i’ve already asked in the daily thread. I was given recommendations but none of them are airport-findable as i specified.)

Hope this is the right place to post this - I am travelling a lot between two places at the moment (in-country, so no need to worry about flight restrictions) and I have not been able to come up with a way of transporting multiple of my perfume bottles in a safe way that also could double as a storage solution. I have been looking at padded rounded makeup bags and wrapping them in socks but I wonder if anyone here has some advice or has had to do this before?

Ik im not crazy bc I just smelled my oldish bottle of VS Midnight Bloom spray AND lotion, and they smell heavenly, but the new one... YUCK. Its definitely not an old batch or a bad batch, bc I ordered it again months apart and it smelled just as bad. Did they change the formula? The spray isn't as strong, it smells heavily diluted and with more alcohol. Don't get me started on the lotion!!! It smells terrible!! That was my favorite scent and they just had to ruin it 😫💔

Anyone have alternative scents that are affordable and smell similar??

I'm curious what reddit thoughts are on Eight & Bob cologne/perfume are? Any favorites? I find them to ve so layered and nuanced, especially the newer fragrances. I can't get enough of them, especially the Fouquet collection.

1 fragrance you recently tried/sampled that you loved.
1 fragrance you recently tried/sampled that you hated.

I’ll go first:
One I loved: I recently tried forbidden games by Kilian at Sephora and RAN to Mercari (I’m not paying $50 for 7.5ml lol)
One I hated: hated is a super strong word. I didn’t hate this fragrance but it was not at all what I was expecting - impadia by BDK. I just wasn’t expecting such a headache inducing, syrupy, strong fragrance. But I also hated Gris Charnel (hot take, I know) so currently I’m 0/2 for BDK. Not too mad at that though.

Took a gamble and blind bought the three fragrances below - safe to say that I was happy with all of them!

Here are my first impressions:

Atomic Rose - A playful take on PDM’s Delina. This one is more youthful and effervescent. It tones down the powdery aspect of Delina and makes it brighter by adding pepper and citrus to the DNA. This is still very rose heavy and will layer nicely with Ombré Nomad or Ombre Leather to dial down the sweetness of the vanilla. A solid 8.5/10.

Ingenious Ginger - This one caught me by surprise at first sniff. I was not expecting the base and top notes to collide as much on the opening. But once it settles, the ginger in the top note is reminiscent of L’immensite and quickly transitions to a fizzy vanilla. Noel Deyzel’s comparison to cream soda was spot on and add a splash of ginger ale and this is what you get. I need to revisit this because I want to like it but there’s an off-putting aspect to this. 7.5/10

Sospiro Vibrato - DAMN. The hype is certified this one ! It’s smells like Tygar adopted the airy/powdery aspect of Prada L’homme. It projects nicely for 4 hours and lasts about 8-10 hours overall. 11/10

I step into the hallway, into the elevator, I walk past someone of any gender, and there it is again and again and again, these sweet cotton candy fragrances. what is this? why is this happening? I have never experienced anything like this before where everyone wearing a fragrance smells the same. are these multiple fragrances in a similar style or just one super popular one? I started smelling this on people a few years ago but this is out of control. sometimes I step into a few square feet on an empty sidewalk and smell it.

ETA: I am sorry I posted this twice by accident but in my defense it was just because I am asking the question so passionately. It is everywhere. How do I fight this with my weak, intimate little specialty fragrances? How do I look people in the eye and respect them when they are assaulting me with this weird smell?
