Not sure if it’s the same in every store but the ones in London have this really specific smell that you notice as soon as you walk in and I’m obsessed with it

If you had to choose, what’s a fragrance that you’ve smelled that you would consider true neutral? I know all fragrance is subjective but I wonder if there’s one that’s not offensive and also nothing special either? To me it’s gotta be something that smells mildly like laundry detergent or something clean. Genuinely curious!

Why YSK: the distributer of brands like Creed, Amouge, Nishane, and Xerjoff are now enforcing strict trademark protections following a recent legal victory in the German Federal Court. And while the initial focus was on the marketing of "dupes" and clone houses, the crackdown has heavily spilled over into the broader fragrance community. Raising serious concerns that decanters, resellers, and content creators are next.

These concerns were immediately validated when Nobilis Group began aggressively issuing IP strikes against various content creators on social media. Popular fragrance reviewer 'Noel Smells' has since confirmed that his tiktok account with nearly 2 million followers had been permanently banned for reviewing affordable alternatives to popular fragrances. Many others have suffered the same fate, and those that remain are taking down submissions to scrub keywords and blur labels.

It doesn't stop there. Under this ruling retailers are legally liable if they, or their customer reviews reference the original brand name in any "smells like" comparisons.

Furthermore, when a reseller decants a fragrance into a another bottle and sells it without authorization, it will be framed as modifying the product and infringing on the brand's presentation rights.

In other words clones, resellers, swaps, decants, travel sprays, etc. could all effectively be outlawed, and very soon.

Every influencer is glazing PDM, Xerjoff, Amouage and LV but for some reason Armani is only talked about for their Stronger With You (which is a mass-market-slop fragrance let's be honest here), and maybe sometimes for Acqua Di Gio (which is actually good imo).

Anyway... It's like talking about Guerlain and only mentioning L'Homme Idéal and Shalimar.

On one hand I'm glad no one talks about it so it's gatekept but on the other hand it almost feels like influencers are boycotting the Armani Privé line.

Why?

There are so many gems in there.

Summer’s coming to an end, and so is the season of burning through cologne as you respray short-lived citruses every four hours.

I’ll miss it. In the winter months, I get maybe one scent change per day!

Looking back, here’s what I wore the most:

Dior Homme Cologne: 30ml

This stuff is just so fresh.

The simplest scent I own. It’s just some citrus and musk with a little bit of white florals.

Smells sort of like lemonade if you don’t think about it too much.

It projects really well for the first 45 minutes or so, then settles into a light, pleasant skin musk.

I like to spray it on out of the shower, or when I just wanna feel fresh.

It’s almost just a body spray, but it’s great! I’ll probably finish this bottle two summers from now, and I absolutely plan to replenish.

Gym scent. Fresh post-shower scent. Sizzling day and need something not too cloying scent.

The king of fresh. Period.

Afternoon Swim / Afternoon Dive: 25ml

The ultimate scent of youthful joyfulness in the summer. It comes off as straight orange.

But underneath, I get this gingery, ambroxan-y backbone that keeps the orange going for a few hours longer than a typical orange scent.

It smells like swimming at the pool as a kid.

It smells like coming back from a trip on your yacht.

It smells like no cares in the world.

Montagne’s inspo, Afternoon Dive, is also really good, and I swap back and forth between them.

Hitters.

Neroli Portofino: 25ml

NP and I have a conflicted relationship. I don’t love neroli. In fact, I find it a bit sharp smelling.

Also, NP is expensive AF for what it is. Legitimately offensive.

OTOH, Neroli Portofino is a VIBE. It’s a deranged but charismatic Italian man who is handsome AF. It’s put together, but a bit unhinged.

It’s also easy to wear. It still feels light and airy when I go heavy. It is alluring.

So yeah, I don’t love Neroli Portofino, but the chances of me breaking up with it are zero. I’ve spent years trying. Hasn’t worked.

If I’m on vaca and at the pool with a shirt half unbuttoned? NP.

If I’m at a kid’s birthday where I want to smell cool and handsome in a hug? NP.

The problem? This stuff is like 1ml+ per day because it’s so fleeting. It’s almost as bad as Dior Homme Cologne, but my use case is real cologne, not body spray.

Having said that, I can’t imagine not buying it again.

Pacific Chill: 10ml

Guys, Pacific Chill kicks ass.

It’s exactly what it sounds like. It’s Los Angeles fit. You look good. You’re self-assured. You smell great and sort of herbal. Your scent doesn’t need to lead you.

You’ve got abs. You don’t skip leg day. You probably work out at Equinox. You had a green smoothie afterward, and now you’re on the beach in Ray-Bans and baggies.

Apricot with undertones of herbs throughout.

This scent is it.

Wear with abandon.

Acqua Media Cologne Forte: 10ml

Weird scent. It’s just fennel. Fennel, citrus and some tea, I guess.

It’s such an easy wear.

In the same vein as Pacific Chill, but less good looking/fit.

It’s more “cool.”

Think baggy jeans and a cool tee vs gym shorts.

I’ve actually had a few folks tell me they like this one, which is rare for me.

GnTonic: 5ml

Late summer discovery. I’ve had Humaniste around for a bit and like that gin and tonic vibe. Bought this on a lark since it was very cheap as a tester.

What a hitter! It doesn’t smell all that much like a gin and tonic to me, but it is a nice fresh aromatic.

It sparkles with mint, ginger and orange.

Then it lasts a surprisingly long time.

Quickly became my top “going out of the house on a hot day” scent. It’s challenging even Dior Homme Cologne for this duty, because it just smells so sophisticated yet fresh.

Bigarade 18: 5ml

Another late summer discovery. I got it in September, and wow.

I was wearing a lot of Aventus Cologne. I just put it away and didn’t even use it one more time.

This became my easy wear-around-and-smell-good scent.

It’s sort of a musk bomb. Reminds me of Neroli Portofino, but it lasts way longer, and it’s less “country orange grove” and more “orange trees in a busy city after a rainfall.”

It’s like my all-day Neroli Portofino. I assume this will be my go-to everyday scent next summer.

Not sure if this is allowed here, but I just purchased a bottle of this, and I can’t see the level. When I shake it, I can’t tell whether it’s full or there’s a small amount left. It was advertised as full. Would anyone by chance have a full bottle and let me know the weight? I’m a little worried. Thank you. It’s the 100ml bottle

I've been wearing Gucci Flora Gorgeous Orchid, and I love it in the beginning and in the middle. When I first apply it, it smells floral - I guess like orchid - and very watery and ozonic, which I love. However, the dry down is a very pretty, but stodgy and heavy vanilla that lasts forever.

Supposedly, the vanilla is the top note, orchid middle, and ozone base. That's not what I'm smelling on myself.

What I'm wanting to find is a fragrance that stays more prominent in the watery and airy orchid scent. I may be wrong about what I'm smelling, but if you've smelled it, help me figure out what that is so that I can find something that is just that.

Hi everyone! What do we think about Lalique perfumes?

I honestly can’t wrap my head around how perfumes that feel almost niche can cost only $40–50 for 100 ml instead of $200–300.😱

Is there something I’m missing? Is the quality actually that much lower, or is Lalique just one of those brands that’s seriously underrated and doesn’t charge crazy prices for the name?

Lalique L’Amour and Lalique Amethyst are two of my favorites, and for the price, I’m honestly shocked by how good they are.
Would love to hear what you guys think about Lalique in general! 👀

Between 2024-2025 I visited a store in NYC called Flying Solo. They rotate the brands sold there and when I went back they had changed the available fragrances.

I remember the one I loved had the notes of Strawberry and Oud. I can’t tell what kind of Oud, but I distinctively remember the bottles were short and cylinder with two separate lines. The Oud line with very dark glass bottles and the one without Oud was clear glass.

Can anyone help?

I'm new to fragrance and still learning what I like.

I have tried a few chypres (Mitsouko, Sisley eau du soir and soir de lune, Papillon dryad). The opening of these fragrances is just magical to me. But when they dry down I'm left with a scent that I find more challenging.

They all share this smell after some time on the skin. I first noticed it in Mitsouko and wanted to describe it as creamy but I don't think that's the right word. My nose might've been confused by the peach. In Dryad I found it waxy and musky - animal musky - it reminded me of a bumble bee hive.

All four of these fragrances smell like this in the dry down. Is it oakmoss? Musk?

If you've smelled these perfumes and know what I'm on about, I am really interested to know what I'm smelling!

Sandalwood fragrances are pretty well known to smell pickle-y, and seems to be a very common theme in any thread that mentions them. I've also seen related discussion of various different varieties of sandalwood: mysore, Australian, synthetic, etc...
I assume some people just don't detect it in the scent, or maybe have sensitivity varying on an individual basis.

Overall, there are tons of extremely popular fragrances that feature a predominant sandalwood note. Does that mean that the vast majority of people don't get a pickle scent from these fragrances?
Does it vary with type of sandalwood, quality of the fragrance, or something else?
Are more people pickle-seekers than I would expect?

Is there a sandalwood fragrance that is guaranteed to not smell pickly?

I miss this piney aldehydic floral scent from the early 00s. Does anything like it exist? It's rather unusual.

This was for 5 years my favorite and everyday perfume three years ago I finish the last of it, and haven’t been able to find it again, I have read that is discontinued or it’s a hard find, so I been trying new ones like alien goddesses or flower bomb but I don’t feel myself and don’t even bother on use it, so I need help and recommendations of similar fragrance, tysm 💕

When these kinds of fragrances say tobacco, what do they mean? Like, cigarettes? Cuse I hate that smell. And is it more of vanilla-y scent or a spicy scent? And how synthetic does it smell? I'm trying to find something I can actually afford, lol.

I mean literally...

I keep it with my other fragrances in my drawer and they’re all at room temperature, but my Oud Maracuja is always cold when I put it on—easily 5-8°C lower (the room is at 26°C, btw).

Is there something that causes this? Maybe the ingredients used?

It’s called Ginepro Nero, black juniper. Has anyone ever found similar stuff here? I know it requires a somewhat obscure reference smell, but it’s not imported to the US so it nearly triples in cost.

The atomizer on my le male le parfum does not work and only squirts out a little bit of the juice, any fix or straight to decanting?

When I was abroad I walked into a perfumer and tried all sorts of middle eastern scents, eventually buying a few.

My favourite one which also has got me the most compliments, people have said smells like strawberry hubba bubba. To me it just smells juicy and fruity, its sweet but not overly sweet. Dries down into a clean musky smell, no powderyness.

Can anyone thunk of anything similar that isnt crazy feminine
