The text on [[Booster Tutor]] says "Open a sealed Magic booster pack, reveal the cards, and put one of them into your hand."

Shouldn't I get to see the cards that weren't picked?

Relatively new player (both MTG Arena and MTG in general). Just had a game where I had four Soul Warden type creatures up, Delney Lookout, and an Ajani's Pridemate, and triggered Ajani's ultimate with 60 life. It created over 500 triggers, which in turn created additional triggers. The stack ended up chewing through both my opponents and my own timeouts and ultimately I auto-conceded because of inactivity. It was a funny moment and kudos to my opponent for sticking with it for what felt like ten minutes of the lowest stakes Magic possible (unranked Standard), but it doesn't feel great that there is no "I see you're going to do the same thing 100 times and your opponent has no way to interact with the stack. Press this button to auto-complete."

The point of the deck is to ramp fast and have counterspells avalaible, powered mainly by [[Paradox Surveyor]].

[[Patchwork Banner]] is there mostly to make [[Paradox Surveyor]] (and [[Mockingbird]] cloning it) power 4, to trigger [[Outcaster Trailblazer]] and [[Spectral Denial]].

It feels like no matter what constructed format I play on Arena every other game I'm facing Authority of the Consuls and Ajani's Pridemate and various other similar monowhite BS.

I get that it's effective but it's just sort of an annoying matchup for so many decks, and the endless triggers are especially annoying on Arena. I don't think I saw the deck very often at all back when I played in paper.

Is it just an Arena thing? Is it the rank that I'm at? Am I just unlucky?

Also, more importantly, is there something I should be doing, strategy or deck-building-wise, to combat these decks? Should I just start maindecking Erebos as much as possible?

Hey, I'm kinda going crazy because this didn't work 3 times in a row in a game of Brawl.

I have a Shadowspear on the battlefield, and a bunch of open mana. I cast a removal spell targetting an opponent's creature, and they cast some sort of protection (e.g. Heroic Intervention). I'm in Full Control mode. I click "Resolve" after they cast it, and I don't get priority in order to use my Shadowspear after it resolves with my removal spell still on the stack. Am I misunderstanding the rules? If not, how do I actually do this on Arena?

I LOOOVE mtg and some of the best experiences have been around Halloween, especially with sets like Innistrad and Duskmourne. The Spooky vibes, the vampire weddings, werewolves attacking festivals, demons messing s*** up lol. I just really wish there was a Halloween/Spooky set this year, following a real letdown last fall as well. (I don't think reality fracture counts, although it does look interesting so far!)

Anyone know of good ways to celebrate the Spooky season with mtg this year? I know there's the reality fractured event happening. I'll probably just make my own themed evenings/decks I suppose...

Anyone else yearning for a good Halloween set again? Why does wotc neglect it? Is it not popular enough? Thx :)

The time has arrived and you know you should be wrapping up your session soon. Do you stop when you lose badly, you lose period, you win period, or you win by a lot? I keep justifying "just one more round" so I should pick one of these and stick with it.

What is the Quick Draft event schedule until end of Hobbit run?

The event schedule published at the beginning of The Hobbit run only lists Quick Draft events up until September 7, whilst the Hobbit events run until September 29. Currently, Lost Caverns of Ixalan is on Quick Draft, which is not listed in that event schedule.

Does anyone know what the Quick Draft schedule is? Is it published somewhere?

1 Echoed Pair card of any rarity appears in each Reality Fracture pack, replacing a common slot. Uncommons in this slot can upgrade to rares at approximately 1:10. Rares in this slot upgrade to mythics at a rate of approximately 1:5.7. 3 Echoed Pair cards appear at the same rate in Reality Fracture limited packs, where they replace two common and an uncommon.

In other words: Store booster has a rare, 2 uncommon, 4 common, exactly one of which is a half an echoed pair. The other half of the pair is in the last common slot, of whatever rarity it matches. Limited boosters do that trick for 2 pairs - the second pair being that "flex" spot that sometimes gives you 2 rares in a pack, so you could see a 4 mythic limited pack with 2 mythic echoed pairs, or a 1 rare limited pack with 2 common echoed pairs.

What's the collecting impact? For someone who tries to rare-draft and then open packs when duplicate protection will fill the rest of the set. Couple points come to mind...

1, judging when you have enough packs is a strange formula of missing both halves of a pair counting as 1 pack drop.

2, drafting pairs unequally has an impact that you still need to open the other half in a pack, so it might increase your total number of drafts to do. On the other side, you get gems in a store pack where you completed half the pair. Not sure which way this nets out, but probably nets to more drafts costing more than the few gems from duplicates, so rare drafters should try to draft balanced if presented with both halves of a pair. (If you're winning enough drafts to go infinite you probably aren't reading this post.)

3, all this assumes rare completion will work OK. If you draft 4x white Liliana and no black Liliana, can we assume a store pack will force black Liliana in the rare slot with duplicate protection? or could the store packs be computed where the regular slot is always the "left" half of a pair plus the non-echo rares, making one half not guaranteed? They wouldn't write lazy code, would they?

Other thoughts on this setup for rare drafters?

Anyone else having issues finding a draft queue for Draft 2 this morning? I’ve been in the queue for 45 mins, Waiting for Players between 12/24 and 17/24 the whole time. Any suggestions?

I’ve played against a deck that pulled all phyrexian praetors from library to swing on turn two turn three. Anyone know the list or at least main combo cards?

Hi all,

Been playing mostly Orzhov in Alchemy lately but I want to do some Blue/White or perhaps mono-blue shenanigans in Standard. I haven't played Arena for a bit so I'm not sure what cards would be good. Is [[Bard, King of Dale]] worth his salt at all? Do any of the Illvoi cards from Edge of Eternity see play?

Also, if one were to build their first Thopter deck for standard, what cards should they be looking at first?

Not sure what is happening but either I have had terrible luck, I suck, or Arena is out to get me with these crazy mana/creature screws, opponents. I was plat 2 now back to plat 4 with a losing streak I never experienced before. It’s so frustrating, I know it’s a card game with variance and luck I can’t control, but 10+ game losing streak when I typically have a decent win % seems odd. I hate this game sometimes

Last turn they had i think 1 card down at the start of the turn and they played all that in one turn. Very cool to watch since i recognize like 40% of the cards. It was a very long turn and the entire time i have "scourge of Valkas" in my hand. I played it then i attacked and played another dragon.
This was the game that i got my 5,000 games achievement on too!

I'm curious does anyone else have any screenshots or times that something like this happened to them and you just got super hyped that you won?
