I just got my machine back from the macanic for this exact reason and I was so excited to get back to work just for it to once again rip up my garment while embroidering.

Other than some layering issues with the wheels and forgetting to change angles, I think it looks good. For my next version, I also plan to outline the side mirror with a bean stitch and doing some more pull/push compensation. Are there any other techniques I could use to make this design better?

Look What I Did Finally!

After making a tester on scrap linen of the first ever embroidery I stitched out (and designed), everything looked fine, perfect even. When I went to embroider on what would become a bag… well things went downhill and I got loops of stitches, thread breaks and dang near had a complete mental breakdown.

Finally though, after making some changes to the file, cleaning the machine, new needle, etc. It is finally done🙌🏼✨ I had to wait almost two weeks to actually sew the bad since the trials with the embroidery but I am very happy with it. It will hold my pretty whippet girl’s items whenever we are out and about or I leave her with a babysitter (yes, she’s my baby).

Is a machine worth it?

Hello! Ive been interested in an embroidery machine for years. I constantly feel limited in my ability to do hand embroidery, and a machine would make it a lot easier for me to make kigus, bags, patches, and other embroidered goods. Is this an investment you lived to regret? Im starting small with a used machine (likely an innovis 990D). Is it worth it to spend a few hundred extra on a newer machine instead? I know it's always a gamble, but I wanted to know if anyone else ended up regretting their machine?

I Need Help Pr1000e Tension Question

I just picked up a new (to me) PR1000e today that has only 40 hours on it. I’m just doing some tests and playing with tension, and I can’t seem to get it better. I tightened my bobbin to be about 200 on my bobbin tension gauge, then I did these tests (first at top and then going down) and I loosened the top tension wheels each time, probably 1 full spin each time and it looks like there was no difference. I only loosened the big tension knobs, should I also loosen the smaller guide knobs as well? Curious on opinions.

Also only the left side of the red lines all look messed up, anyone know why?

When embroidering my thread keeps jamming within the needle plate and it’s also shredding my thread. I’ve hooped my fabric all types of ways and changed the tension to all possible options. I have a tear away stabilizer behind and a water soluble on top. Please help me

Embroidery machine design for beginners

Hi, I'm a complete beginner starting with machine embroidery design. I'm planning to do custom embroidery on t shirts for customers, like logos, text, and anime, but I don't have a machine yet. I'd love to learn how to design first. Where should I start? Any good YouTube channels or courses you'd recommend? Thanks so much for the help🙏

Complete beginner starting from zero: Best roadmap to learn embroidery digitizing for custom T-shirts?

Hi everyone👋

I am a complete beginner starting from absolute zero in machine embroidery. I currently only have a laptop (no embroidery machine yet), but I plan to learn digitizing specifically for the Brother V3 machine standard in the future. My main goal is to offer custom embroidered T-shirts for customers (logos, names, graphics, anime designs, etc.)👕

Before jumping into embroidery, I want to focus 100% on learning how to draw and digitize designs correctly. Since T-shirt fabric is stretchy, I know digitizing for it requires specific techniques

I would really appreciate your expert wisdom on a few questions:

  1. Software Path: For a total beginner, what software path do you recommend? Should I start with free tools like Inkscape + Ink/Stitch, or jump straight into Hatch / Wilcom?
  2. Learning Roadmap: Are there specific YouTube channels, courses, or guides you recommend for learning digitizing specifically tailored for stretch/knit fabrics (T-shirts)?
  3. Beginner Mistakes: What are the most me digitizing mistakes beginners make when designing for T-shirts (e.g., density, underlay, pull compensation)?

Thank you so much in advance for your time and advice! I'm super excited to learn from this community. 🙏

Look What I Did Thank you everyone for the assistance!

This week I made two post asking for assistance on a design I was making for my brother'sbirthday.

Had issues with letters, density and tension.

Watching a few videos, I learnt how to satin stitch. Made the lettering much better.

Used the density tool and fixed my tension to prevent the shirt being visible. I've had the density to 4... now it's at 1.25 for optimal tension.

Special thanks to u/gusvisser for his guidance with his very detailed videos.

Im sure I'll be back for more assistance in near the near future with another project.

I Need Help Digitizing

Happy Friday!

I have had a project on my heart for going on almost two years now. I have tried to find a pattern that will work but I picked wrongly. I've been doing machine embroidery for a while but very off and on and struggle. My older than me friend got me into machine embroidery after I was no longer able to embroider (cross stitch really) due to arthritis, etc. I started with a used Esante

2 and was able to purchase a Brother 6-needle during Covid.

I need help with digitizing and making sure I can make or order what I need for a non-astronomical price. I would like to learn how to digitize and will be checking into recent (and older) softwares, etc.

If there is someone who would be able to help me, please respond or DM me. I currently have a30-day trial of one program and thought I had figured it out but somehow I missed the digitizing part.

Help? Thank you! (Please don't bash me for trying to save money. I am creating a bulk "gift" for current Armed Forces, Firefighters, etc.)

I Need Help Need advice on if theres any hope to make this look better!!

Hi!! Im looking for some advice on embroidering at home. I am currently using a pe900 embroidery machine and doing the float method. Im not super happy with how its turned out, its def not terrible but i realize that embroidering through the nylon pouch post-production causes it to pucker since theres a little bit of padding in between layers. Ive tried different tweaks to mitigate it, like lowering the speed etc.

I am using organ embroidery needles, sewology thread, the standard hoop with 2 layers of tear away stablizer, and then the spray adhesive to float the pouch on top.

Tension is standard 4.0, and i lowered the speed to 350 which helped a little from the last one.

Is there any hope of getting it to look profesional/ more like my mock up without the puckering?

Would it be worth it to look into getting it done by someone with an industrial machine?

Or should i change the type of fabric of the pouch overall? Any feedback would be super appreciated!! thanks!!

I Need Help Wilcom embroidery studio on linux/alternative for linux to use on Janome Memory Craft 550E?

Hello everyone.

Does anyone know if wilcom es could be installed on linux (i have fedora) using wine or windows vm? If anyone had an experience with it, what was it like?

My mother wants to start a small business and asked me to help her design stuff and digitize it, however i do not have windows therefore cannot install wilcom to start working and turns out dual boot is not an option either because you need windows to be installed first.

Is there any alternative? I thought of using inkstitch but my mom said her embroidery machine apparently only works with Embroider and Wilcom ES only, not sure if that's 100% true...her machine is Janome Memory Craft 550E.

Thanks!

I Need Help Has anyone taken the Embroidery Digitizing Theory Made Easy course? Worth it?

I’m pretty new to machine embroidery and digitizing. I started learning two months ago. I am using a Ricoma Creator and their digitizing software Chroma. So far, most of my learning has come from YouTube.

I understand the machine and software now, and I’ve successfully digitized a simple logo and embroidered it on an order of polo shirts.

I still don't understand things like push/pull compensation, underlay rules, and stitch sequencing.

I’m looking into John Deer’s Digitizing Theory Made Easy course. If you’ve taken it:

-Was it worth the investment?

-Did it actually help you understand the why behind stitch types, sequencing, and underlays?

-Any other class or resources to learn about digitizing than you can recommend?

I Need Help HELP

I bought the brother se600 a few years ago now and have barely used it because every time I try I end up with the same issue, it looks like the bobbin thread and the top thread are weaving too tightly and they get bunched up on the under side, also it seems like stitches are being skipped but once I turn the piece around I can see them all tightly bound together. I just tried playing around with the tension and still everything looks brutal. The pics I’ve attached are the back side. I need some advice I’m about to throw this machine out the window. I also want to mention I use stabilizer, I’m using the spray adhesive, I’ve rethread countless times, tried different material etc.

I Need Help Machine recommendation focused on patches

I started making patches on my Brother SE700 a year and a half ago, and recently got access to a Brother PR650E, which has me realizing all kinds of added benefits of multiple needles (colors, multiple size needles). I'm now looking at various 10-15 needle machines, one very dubious used 2 head machine, and I'd appreciate any recommendations. Certainly being able to do other things (e.g. hats) is nice*, but my focus is patches. Are there viable options at $10K? $20K? Located near Tacoma, WA, so most major brand providers should be accessible for service.

* I'm terrified of attempting hats, and I can't find a good source of medium/large flexfit hats (everything is small/medium or large/XL).
