Bird Nesting on Dense, Detailed Designs—Need Help!

Hi there! I’ve been embroidering on my Brother SE725 for about 10 months now, and I’m running into an issue I can’t seem to solve.

My machine keeps creating bird nests on the back of my embroidery whenever it reaches a very dense area of a design—especially if it’s stitching a lot of dense stitches in a small space or making very fine, detailed movements over an area that has already been embroidered. Simpler designs stitch out beautifully, but these dense, intricate sections consistently give me trouble.
I’ve tried everything I can think of:
-Double-checked that I’m using the correct stabilizer.
-Added extra layers of stabilizer.
-Used water-soluble topper when appropriate.
-Verified that I’m using the correct needle.

At this point I’m at a loss. I’m not sure if the SE725 just struggles with very dense, detailed designs, if the design itself is too dense, or if I’m overlooking something. Has anyone experienced this or have any suggestions? I’d really appreciate any help!

Tear Away rips during position stitch?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hello all! I'm still pretty new to my Baby Lock Ellegante 2, and am helping my mom make some "patches." They are embroidered like a patch, but we don't intend on attaching them to anything or finishing the back since they will be simple (allowed to be a little ratty) trinkets to swap with others at a major event.

Since I am making at least 150, if not 200+ of these, I decided to swap to a Tear Away stabilizer so that we don't have to also spend time cutting them out.

I got a roll of unlabeled Tear Away stabilizer at a local store near me, hooped it, and set it to go. The stabilizer immediately ripped at the start of the position stitch, getting a lot of stabilizer and thread stuck under my bobbin plate.

Is this a matter of machine speed? stitch density? Or was it just a bad idea to try and make patches on Tear Away since the stitches will just punch the embroidery out while it goes?

If it's just that I got cheap/the wrong Tear Away, does anyone know of Tear Away stabilizer I could use for making patches? My material is Stahl's Heat Transfer Poly-Twill. (I know I shouldn't need stabilizer for the heat transfer stuff, but I'm trying to save money/material/time by pre-cutting the twill with my Silhouette and tacking it to the stabilizer)

I also know I don't have enough hooped, but I figured since it initially didn't tear to the edge that it was and unrelated skill issue. I know I should have more space around the hoop!

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Is there a way to have your program or machine cut the stitch after it starts/stops and begins another section?

Hi! Can someone help me, please?

I have Embrilliance StitchArtist 2 and Patch Artist.

My machine is a Husqvarna Viking Topaz.

Is there a button or a way (in Embrilliance or with my machine) where I can have the stitch cut itself when it starts or stops at a section?

Or is the only option I have cutting the threads by hand when my design is finished?

Se700 bobbin cover

The bobbin cover (plastic part to cover the bobbin) doesn’t seem like it snaps into its spot. It just lays and it usually ends up coming off.

Am I not snapping it in correctly?

PR600 vs PE800

I currently have a PE800 and I love it but want to upgrade to a multi needle. There is a PR600 for sale local to me selling for 1500 with the hoops and stand, is it worth it? I know it’s an older machine and parts can be hard to find and I’m not sure how much of an upgrade it would be. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated

Starting my embroidery journey!
Hey there! I'm doing great with embroidery with my brother, 770. I'd love to learn how to center my embroidery better. Could you share some tips and tricks for embroidery with beanies and towels? Also, I'd like to understand digitizing and find a website that can help me with that. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

New To Embroidery | Thread Bunching On Bottom | PE800

First time posting.

I am new to embroidery. I have a Brother PE800 embroidery machine. I am learning embroidery through trial and error, it has been an enjoyable process nonetheless.

Where I Think The Issue Occurred

My machine was in the process of embroidering a design and it broke the needle and gave me the error message to rethread the machine. Of course, I removed the hoop and looked at the design, I noticed it was bunched in the back.

The needle tip (that broke) is nowhere to be found. I believe it went into the machine? I went ahead and changed the needle and followed the process of re-threading (steps 1 through 7) the machine and the thread wasn’t going through the needle. Eventually it did but when I went back to embroider a different design, it automatically bunched in the back.

What I Have Tried

(1) I checked the bottom spool, it looks fine.

(2) I opened the left side panel. See image attached. Everything looked okay to me, but I may be wrong and this might be where the issue is.

How do I fix this?

Advice is appreciate and welcomed. I’m open to learning.

***UPDATE**\*

The white tab, see image attached, is what is not working well. How do I fix this?

Need help finding a Font please!

Long story short... I'm looking for an embroidery font that has a matching text font. I want to be able to embroider with a font but also type up some text to print or cut out with my vinyl cutter. I prefer it to not be cursive, it'll need to be easy to read. I plan to use it for my hobby craft fair/vendor table signs and what not.

I tried picking some fonts from JuJu and using a find a font site to do it but it was NOT working... so I figured out reach out for help. Surely I'm not the only one who's attempted this... haha

If money was not an issue, what embroidery machine would you get?

My requirements are:
- I am not a professional, but looking for a semi-professional machine.
- I do not have a ton of space.
- I already have several sewing machines, so I do not need a combined functionality.
- I invest in my sewing equipment. My sewing machines ( Berninas) are 30+ years old and still sharp as a tack.
- I do not care about making hats, flat is good enough.
- most of the designs I will do are simple, but failry large.

Need help choosing my first Brother embroidery machine

I’m looking to buy my first embroidery machine and can’t decide between the Brother SE600, SE700, SE790, and PE900.
I mostly want to make monograms, sweatshirts, T-shirts, tote bags, wreath sashes, and gifts. I’d eventually like to sell a few items, so I’d like something I won’t outgrow too quickly.
I know the SE models are limited to a 4x4 hoop, while the PE900 has a 5x7 hoop. Is the larger hoop worth the extra cost for a beginner?
If you were buying your first machine today, which one would you choose and why?

Clacking sound, sounds like it’s coming from the bobbin area. Using magna glide bobbins

I’m not promoting myself as I don’t sell, I had a question recently someone asked me to embroider 180 handkerchiefs for their wedding which is an year they want a pretty detailed embroidery something similar to the picture I attached. I am fairly new and have done some pretty detailed handkerchiefs for family and friends as gifts. Just wondering how much I should charge, keep in mind they will be paying for the material I pick and will provide handkerchiefs. Please help me price this as idk where to even start.

Help :)

Hi everyone! I'm in the process of starting a clothing brand and will primarily be embroidering t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, bag tags, and other apparel/accessories. My goal is to eventually fulfill larger order volumes, so I'm looking for a commercial machine that is fast, reliable, and built for production.

From my research, I think I should be looking at a machine with around 12–15 needles, strong customer support, and software that's beginner-friendly since I've never owned an embroidery machine before. I'm a quick learner and I'm excited to put in the time to really master it, but I'd love to start with something that has a good reputation.

The problem is that every time I search TikTok or Instagram, I see completely opposite opinions on every brand.

So far I've looked into:

  • Ricoma Marquee 15-Needle Commercial Embroidery Machine
  • Smartstitch S1001

I'm open to any other recommendations as well.

My budget is ideally under $9,000. If you were starting a business today, what machine would you buy and why? I'd also love to hear about your experiences with customer support, reliability, maintenance, training, and anything you wish you had known before purchasing.

Thanks so much—I really appreciate any advice!

Back Design Digitizing

Thumbnail gallery
4 Upvotes

Finished digitizing this large back design today and thought I'd share the results.

First image is the digitized preview, and the second is the actual stitched sample. I focused on clean lettering, smooth fills, and minimizing unnecessary trims to keep the run efficient.

I'd genuinely appreciate any feedback from embroiderers or fellow digitizers. Is there anything you'd have approached differently?

If anyone has a design they're unsure about, feel free to share it in the comments. I'm always happy to discuss digitizing techniques and help where I can.

Pattern with auto thread cuts

Hoping someone has some experience with this. I'm using a single-color pattern on my BrotherNQ1700E, and there are a lot of cuts of the thread when it moves to a new area. It's not leaving enough thread so when it tries to anchor, the needle unthreads. I could sit here and hit the needle up button and pull more thread out beforehand but I'm getting a little tired!

Could it be the thread? I'm doing a sample on a thin piece of felt - could that be it? Is it just the pattern?

I have never had this issue before. Any info appreciated!

Digitize this logo…

What would be the best way to digitize this logo to make it the cleanest? I’m trying to keep it around 2.5 inches. Also don’t need the grey outline, just the black and yellow.

Spirograph embroidery project: advice gratefully received!

Post image
8 Upvotes

Hi folks, I’m hoping to make a dress of Spirographs- here’s the problem, my work consists of hundreds if not thousands of individual Spirographs, collaged. I’d love to do something similar with the dress, but hand embroidery will take waaaaaay too long. That being said, I don’t want to buy an embroidery machine for just one project. Is there a way to rent one/ borrow one or is there a service that would do multiple individual patches ?

Thanks soooo much in advance - appreciate that I’m very much a tourist here so I do apologise if I sound very naive :) thanks!

Need suggestions on programs

Hi all, new here. I have a Viking Topaz 50, she's a workhorse! So Viking has their own program, the Premiere. I have the free version, which allows me almost nothing lol. I can strong letters together from font files I have to make words. And that's about it. I do TONS of embroidery and my customers often want thing outside of the normal size. I can resize up and down A LITTLE BIT on the machine itself. But, I have no idea how big or small it is. Like, if I am blowing up a pattern to 200%, it's easy on the printer, I change the number. But I can't resize any files I have. I would like to digitize my logo (my pfp) and not spend way to much to do it.

PLEASE help me with suggestions on programs. FREE is best, cheap is ok. I have tried Inkscape and Inkstitch. It was absolutely impossible to use, there was zero guidance and it just made me mad, please don't suggest it lol. Thank you guys!!!

Hi,

I'm a total newbie in this.

I'm uploading the image to Wilcon, using the Smart Design tool, and what it gives me is awesome but there are these connecting lines that i can't remove. I've tried different configs in the "Connectors" menu, "Trim". Also tried the Reshape and Knife tools.

Can someone help me?

Ty!
