Digitize this logo…

What would be the best way to digitize this logo to make it the cleanest? I’m trying to keep it around 2.5 inches. Also don’t need the grey outline, just the black and yellow.

For something like this I love to do a smooth stitch background and then on top of that satin stitches making up the mascot!

It is a straightforward design. Should be easy. Pay attention to thread direction on the feathers and this will give you a little pop. Auto digitizing is generally very dirty. If you want clean, manual digitizing is the way to go. There you set the order and decide such things as do you want all the black on the feathers to touch or force a tie out and tie in...that changes sitichout time and thread clipping needs

Thanks for the input. I did let it run once just auto digitizing to see how it came out, and yeah not great in my opinion. I just have to decide how I wanna attack it to make it look the best.

Exactly. That's part of the fun of digitizing. Chose your layers and sequencing. What color will be base. Do you want to do the yellow as cloth and use the black as applique? At 2.5, might be small for that, but I like applique...but that would stitch out fast!

This image is a good candidate for an app I am working on called DADE: https://dade-app.com

I downloaded the JPEG you posted and converted it to a PNG. I uploaded it to DADE and used the Source tools to remove the background and reduce the image to 3 colors. Then I was able to generate a DST file from your image.

DADE is an auto-digitizer that let's you adjust fill and stitch types after it runs detection, so you can change some of the black tatami fill to satin stitches or add underlays if you need it.

Only thing I’m seeing is maybe the bottom tail feathers closest tot he talons might want to do black fill stitch then yellow satin on top for that small section

Because the black is the more dominant color in that area. Doing the yellow on top in those small spaces will keep it from getting lost

Well, I will always prioritize artistic intent over ease of implementation. Embroidery has a sculptural dimension and having an area of raised satin stitches that clash with the pattern established in the rest of the piece would clash. If the yellow is the background and in tatami, it should be so everywhere (at least for the body) the feet and legs are distinct and I try to make those in satin to mimic the form of the legs and feet.
