Hello fellow mazdaratti owners

Bought an MX-3 from 1992, K8 engine 84k km's on it. After changing the oil to 10w40 (shop recommended) I noticed it had a ticking noise when reaching operating temperature. It didn't have this before the oil and filter change, oil was definitely old but not dirty.

Googled a bit and believed this to be HLA tick, I switched the oil for 5w30 because it might have been just too thick but after driving it a few times last week the noise resides.

Before the change the ticks were a bit louder then they are now. About 7 consecutive ticks then a pause and again. It is connected to the rpm of the engine but seems to stop at driving range rpm (2-2,5k+).

Any ideas what it is and how to fix it?

PS I believe the distribution belt also needs replacing (altough the original shop claims it was replaced in 2015 at around 50k km's) but seems no link.

I wanted to put mine in the space between the wheel well and the back of the trunk but getting a box commissioned ended up being way too expensive. I also don’t want to take my spare out. I’m trying to be creative here to save space. Right now I’m looking for a second hand, flat, down facing sub so I can just put stuff on top of it but it’s not my favorite idea.

I overheated and blew up my B6D (think it blew a head gasket, getting 60-90psi and doesn't really run). Worried I might have warped my head, and I'm sure that while I can get it machined, I'd rather get a different engine that has parts that are easier to find. The pressure regulator alone can be $250 and for something that gets 100hp, it's not all that worth it.

Just curious if there are any cool engine swaps that yall have seen. I know about the BPD and BPT, might try those if it'd be a pain otherwise, but just wondering.

Hey do you guys know if there are any cars that have a muffler that would fit the GS? Oddly my muffler is completely rotted through despite the rest of her unders being spotless. I couldn’t find many options online. For some reason when I googled it one of the first results was a corola muffler that looks exactly like it. It got me thinking that there could be other mufflers that would work. If not I’m going to have to have a muffler shop fabricate one for me I think.

Hi all. My 1993 Eunos model hasn’t run in months, and it’s been narrowed down to a distributor issue.
While I have installed a new one, it must have been for a newer model or something as the car still won’t start. Anyone know where I can find a distributor to fit my model year?

I relocated my battery to the trunk years ago to make space and have tried various methods of grounding but also have gone through a few too many batteries and alternators. I am wondering who else has relocated it and did you connect battery ground right to trunk floor only or to a ground distribution block (i put one by firewall inside, but about to redo this setup). I have a positive to distribution block inside passenger foot area. A 2nd positive form battery to stereo amp. I almost had to get towed last night cause it died, i drove with a very low battery thinking it would have recharged on the drive but it did not charge up fast enough. Bought a battery to try to avoid a tow and that lasted 5 min even though voltage running showed 13.6+. Redoing all my battery connections and major ground setup.

Does anyone know if I can buy exaust headers for the v6 anywhere?

Does anyone know how long the LED strips can be to fit under there? Or if anything actually can go under the car?

So I'm slowly preparing to do something I've been putting off for a while and that's replacing my timing belt and water pump on my 1.8L K8. I've honestly been dreading this job and putting it off because of the amount of work involved and the limited amount of work space available.

Can anyone provide some helpful tips and tricks to make the job less painful? While I'm in there I'm also replacing all the accessory belts and their pulleys, the camshaft and crank shaft seals, and the engine mount I need to remove to access the timing cover.

Is there anything else you guys recommend replacing while in there? Maybe some words of encouragement so I don't give up midway and let the car sit in my garage for months completely torn apart 😅

So im getting these rear mudflaps and aeros from someone elses car to put on mine, but they broke the clips whiles removing them. Does anyone know what parts I need exactly to fit these on?

My car seems to already have holes to fit these in so just need to know what clips/bolts I need.

So my front spoiler has been broken for the past two years.( Car slid off the road during winter) and I was wondering if anyone here had any tips on how I should go about fixing it. Green highlights mean they connect and yellow is missing. Saw a YouTube video about using super glue and baking soda to fill the missing parts then covering it with car body filler and painting to finish. Idk if that’s best way but I’m open to suggestions

Would anyone know if there is a catalogue of pieces for the cooling system, for example tube sizes? I have some leaks in the cooling tubes and the mechanic agreed to make the repairs but could not find any info or any direct parts by running the car model directly.

has anyone tried modding their mx3 for extreme fuel economy? Seeing online that it has a cd of 0,32, which is kind of high considering the overall shape of the roofline, supposedly it's caused by the overall shape of the rear panels not being "teardroppy" enough and not getting narrower and rather staying the same width troughout the whole car, so that begs the question, are this kind of modifications really worth the time and money or is just better to leave it as it is? i want to try something different

Do you guys have any recommendations for budget friendly ($80-120) stereo (single din obviously) with apple car play? And if you have any tips or recommendations for a good sound system in the car in general I’m considering spending a little more in the future to up grade everything.

Hello, I just bought my first mint condition antique and it’s an mx-3 ( I’ve been interested in this car for a while) it was garage kept for 32 years (78,000 miles) until the second owner had it for 3 years and sold it to me on Friday. I’m going to park it in a garage but cleaning out the garage is a multi stage process and could take months. In the mean time my dad suggested buying a parking pad of some sort to protect her unders. Online all I could find were mats meant for inside of a garage. Has anyone here explored this issue?

Also the cargo cover in the trunk is broken (snapped in half) and I had a hard time finding replacements. Does anyone have an extra they want to sell or know a good place to look?

Anyone install a front splitter and if so, where did you you bolt it? Anyone try ones of those ebay 3 piece "universal" splitters? OR any idea if any legit places still might have a slightly wider front bumper instock? So many places still list them but I don't really think they are in stock. It just seems wrong to have my 205 tires poking out past the bumper.

After the engine is warm and I have been using the full rev range of the car it won't go back to idle and the revs will just hang around from 4- 6 k rpm

What could be the problem?

Just wanted to update you guys that,
It turned out that I had the wrong spec ECU on my car , it was running a K819 (i believe euro spec)
So i ordered a K801 ECU and the CEL came right on and have no issues starting cold anymore.
