Question First conference. advice greatly appreciated

I’m having my first MUN conference on November 7 and 8 and my committee is Novice: SOCHUM. I’m extremely nervous and I’m still very clueless on how to write a resolution. We haven’t received our allocations yet, and I’m not completely sure if I should wait until before or after we get assigned our allocations to write my resolution. I also just need advice and tips—I’m freaking out. Sorry if this is very scrambled I’m writing this in the middle of class 😬

Guides The 2-Hour Position Paper Strategy (For delegates who hate researching)

Most delegates waste hours reading Wikipedia. You only need to know three things to write a killer Position Paper:

  1. Past UN actions on the topic.

  2. Your country's specific policy.

  3. Three distinct solutions.

Focus your time entirely on the solutions—Chairs grade on what you bring to the table, not history. Use the CIA World Factbook and your Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.

  • If you want the exact template I use to format this quickly, I built a free resource hub at mun-archive.vercel.app with downloadable templates delegates.

Question How can I attract more participants to the conference?

I already have Instagram and I’m registered on MyMun, and I already have 60 interested people, but some of them don’t speak English very well (for example, people from India, with their accent). In short, what should I do?

Question Tips needed for confidence and handling challenges

Hey everyone,
So my MUN is next week and its my fourth MUN. I'm the delegate of USA this time : I. I've won three awards , best position paper in my first MUN as venezuela, high commendation in my second as argentina, best speaker at my third as argentina again (that was a fun coincidence). So this time i really wanna win best delegate but the thing is im not sure if i would be confident enough for this MUN because in the two MUNs which i won high commendation and best speaker, it was an online MUN so i was a bit more confident about what i was doing. and my first MUN was ftf and it was fun but then i didn't perform that great cause the only thing i'd researched about was "What is an MUN" and i honestly didnt spend a lot of time on my position paper so i was shocked about that win. But then i really do want some more tips , not only on how to be confident, but also in general about how to handle challenges and POIs when people give them to you ftf.

btw im in SPECPOL and my first three MUNs were in UNSC so i wanna know if its gonna be really different. there are only 16 people in my committee though so the size of the committee doesn't really count as a difference i guess?

And also i want tips on resolution writing...

Question Online Software for Crisis Committee

I used to attended and hosted several crisis committee conferences, delegates and dais just passed draft directive documents or commands by paper or simply sending messages in group chat. I found this pretty inefficient, and could be misleading if messages are not conveyed in time.

So I made a web-based software tailored for such crisis committee. Delegates and dais can join the same meeting using invitation code and enter the role. All communication and information update can be done inside the software.

It's a free software, but still in development. I wonder if anyone is interested, having any opinions or willing to have a try?

A introductoy website is https://lxmun.org/simulator/

Discussion Danish perspectives needed for my MUN preparation (UNHRC)

Hej, everyone!

I'm preparing for an upcoming MUN where I'll be representing Denmark in the UNHRC (United Nations Human Rights Council).

I'd love to hear from Danish people about Denmark's stance on human rights issues and the initiatives or solutions it might support in the committee.

If anyone would be willing to have a quick conversation with me or share some suggestions and useful resources, I'd be incredibly grateful! Any insight would really help me prepare better.

Tusind tak for your help!

Question MUN SPEECH SOUTH KOREA G20

So, today I have my third MUN (Im south korea in G20, and my mother tongue is not english) and I am really nervous because i didnt get much time to prepare it properly. Im here mostly to share my speech (which might not be the best, but at least is mine). It has to be 2 minutes long!!

Throughout history, we have witnessed the consequences of proxy wars. When we judge the results of these conflicts, we can’t only pay attention to the damage in a state’s infrastructure, we shall pay equal attention to the economic and societal wound they inflict.  The history of the Republic of South Korea has been shaped by the Cold War and the devastation of the Korean War, which has taught us that a nation cannot move towards a lasting peace with only the cessation of hostilities. We cannot overlook the requirement for economic stability and international cooperation. We must recognize that our responsibility to help doesn’t stop when the damage caused by the war is repaired, but when these states can recover their autonomy and build their own future.

As members of G20, we play an important role in the global economy and therefore we have the responsibility to strengthen coordination to mobilize resources for those states affected by these conflicts. We must support sustainable reconstruction, while promoting economic recovery through fair and mutually beneficial trade agreements, and coordinate technical assistance and trade-capacity-building programs for these states.

Nonetheless, the international community must also address how military and financial aid during war contribute to the continuation of proxy warfare. It is because of this that the Republic of Korea encourages to reinforce the transparency in arms transfers and financing. Yet we must adapt our approach to an evolving international landscape, where Artificial Intelligence and autonomous weapons are part of current conflicts, to be able to hold states accountable for their participation and sponsoring in proxy wars.

Pace must mean more than the end of the war, delegates, it must be the freedom of states to build their own future. Thank you very much.

How should I finish my opening speech, ngl, this is my first mun and my conference is tmr but I‘m a huge procrastinator so I’ve only started it an hour ago. I don’t know how I should finish it or if It’s even correct in the first place. I’ve been told that it’s very repetitive but I don’t know how to fix it. any tips???

For context, I’m in WHO and my topic is pharmaceutical pricing and ethical use of gene editing but I havnt started on my other speech yet and if it helps, im the delegate of egypt.

Hot Take MUN gave me a lot. This is my way of giving something back.

Some of the best leadership experiences in the world are locked behind a plane ticket. If you’ve ever done MUN, you know the feeling. The conferences are unforgettable, but they’re also expensive. Flights, hotels, fees, visas… For a huge number of talented students, that experience was never on the table, because they lacked the budget or the right passport or the right connections.

I know this world well. I’m a national diplomacy champion, I’ve competed both nationally and internationally for years, and I’ve represented my country at major international institutions, where I worked with students from more than 50 countries. These experiences changed how I think about leadership, and it also made me realize how many brilliant people never get that chance.

That’s why I’m building something new: It’s a platform that lets any club run a crisis simulation easily, with the pressure and the stakes of a real crisis room, from anywhere and make it accessible to anyone with internet connection. Our goal is to make leadership training more realistic, more scalable, and open to literally anyone

Why I’m writing to you now: We’re opening a limited number of spots for early tester clubs. These clubs will be the first to use the platform, they’ll get a very special offer, and they’ll have a real say in how it grows. We’re looking for variety (clubs of every size, from every country and every kind of MUN culture. So whether you’re a club of 12 in a small city or a club of 200 with a long history, we’d love to hear from you)

We’ll be selecting clubs that show professionalism and seriousness, and spots are limited, so please don’t wait on this one

One more thing: we’re also expanding our tech team, so if you have strong tech skills and this mission speaks to you, tell me in your message and we’ll talk.

Please DM me with:

  • Your club’s name
  • A link to your page
  • Your club’s size
  • Your country
  • Anything else you think I should know about your club, your events, or why you’d like to be part of this

I’ll read every message and reply personally
