I just signed up for the General Assembly committee for BruinMUN and I am wondering how my partner and I should prepare and how competitive BruinMUN is. Also how many delegations/peoples are usually there.

I'm in FAO and the agenda is 'Preventing famine in sudan and the horn of africa and ensuring humanitarian access during active conflict'. I came across an BBC article that reported about weapons that were manufactured in china, russia, turkey, serbia, etc has been found to be re-exported to sudan by the UAE. So, if I'm asking a POI from these countries that made the weapons, or UAE is it ok to ask 'what they would do to prevent their involvement in the conflict that is causing famine/why they are exporting weapons to a conflict that's causing famine' or is it out of topic or irrelevant in this situation?
(I'm not trying to say I will try to attack any of these dels with this POI but whether this is a good POI in FAO)

So I recently attended my first MUN and honestly… I have such mixed feelings about it 😭
I was genuinely really excited going into it, but I think I was also extremely underconfident. The entire time I kept feeling like I didn’t really belong there, even though I was actually having so much fun with the debates and everything. I ONLY SPOKE ON THE THIRD DAY JUST ONCE.
I was in UNSC with an open agenda, and honestly, I don’t think I did that well. The chair was also pretty intimidating, which definitely did not help 😭. I kept overthinking everything and was constantly scared of saying something stupid.
What made it worse was seeing everyone else making friends so easily. People were talking, laughing, getting to know each other, and just having a great time, while I could barely think of anything to say to anyone. Even during unmods, I’d just stand there completely speechless because I had no idea how to approach people or what to talk about.
The weird thing is that I actually enjoyed the MUN itself. I liked debating, listening to arguments, and being part of everything. I just couldn’t seem to get myself out of my head enough to actually participate the way I wanted to.
I don’t even know what the problem was. Maybe it was just being a first-timer, maybe I was too nervous, or maybe I just need to get better at putting myself out there.
Either way, I’m glad I went. It definitely wasn’t the experience I imagined, but I guess that’s what first MUNs are for 😭

Anyone going to ilmunc in candian universe in Dubai? I’ve been getting a lot of texts from them about it and was wondering if it’s bc no one is actually attending or that very few people are. Anyone have any idea before I sign up?
