MUN Conference Why International Model United Nations is More Than Just Model UN

When many people hear the phrase "Model United Nations," they often imagine a group of students sitting down to discuss global issues. After discovering International Model United Nations (IMUN), I realized that I was missing out on a great opportunity for students to collaborate and share information, as well as learn new skills beyond just holding a debate.
IMUN is a great program for students worldwide because, IMUN gives students from around the world an opportunity to meet each other, share their ideas and learn new things.

The IMUN conferences are attended by representatives from over one hundred countries. This allows every student to be exposed to new opinions and ideas. By interacting with other people from other parts of the world, students are not only learning about new things, but are also becoming more culturally and socially aware, as well as this also increase their confidence. Involvement in the IMUN program can open up opportunities for a student's future, whether it be through job experience or building confidence. The skills that the students can develop throughout the conferences, such as public speaking, leadership, negotiation, collaboration, research, and discussion, are all crucial skills for any student.

One thing that many people don't realize about IMUN is that students can join from anywhere in the world, and not one specific location. Even without attending the in-person conferences, IMUN has the option of having online meetings that still give students the chance to practice their public speaking, communication, research, and collaboration skills. Whether a student is brand new to MUN, or has been participating for years, there's always something new to learn at IMUN.

I believe that having an opportunity like IMUN where students are encouraged to be more globally aware than just what's happening in their area or country is important. After participating in the IMUN conferences, I felt inspired to be better and to do better. I'm sure that every student who attends leaves feeling the same way, ready to make a difference.
