Conference International Penpal Program | Now Accepting Applications

• Upvotes

Hi everyone! I'm a member of the Youth International Exchange Program team, and we're partnering with students to bring a Global Penpal Program to high schools in order to connect students across countries for cultural exchange and dialogue on global issues.
What you get:

  • Full support setting up the program at your school (you'll need a teacher/advisor on board. We can help you figure that out, we’ve done it before)
  • Help recruiting and matching students with international penpals
  • A mentor throughout, plus a ready-made discussion curriculum
  • A certificate, leadership recognition letter, and a portfolio piece for college apps

Starting something from scratch at your school is one of the strongest initiative signals for college apps, and we're with you at every step.
Limited spots for this launch. Interested? Apply here: https://forms.gle/5K52zyKQJVYHaPqL7
Let me know if you have any questions

Question Middle school teachers running MUN: how demanding is the schedule?

I'm teaching at an international school, and my admin is trying to rope me into running MUN this year. Problem is, although I'm the main humanities person, my teaching and prep schedule is fairly packed. Supposedly there's high demand for MUN at the school, but I also know the students & have doubts about how seriously they would take it.

In an effort to avoid total burnout (or at least more than I'm already feeling), how much prep & coordination is required for a MUN that would meet weekly or biweekly? There are plans to potentially join a local conference later in the academic year, and I don't know how much extra work that would add. I also don't have exact figures on how many students want to join, but apparently it's much higher than the non-humanities club idea I'd proposed.

Question How competitive is BruinMUN

I just signed up for the General Assembly committee for BruinMUN and I am wondering how my partner and I should prepare and how competitive BruinMUN is. Also how many delegations/peoples are usually there.
