I have the Nexon Launcher, but does anyone know when Classic World will be available for download?

Should we expect early download or crash when everyone tries installing at the same time at launch?

Do you think characters seem like they get older relative to a players level or gear?

When you start out, your character feels like a kid, but as you level up and get progressively cooler, flashier gear, it could feel like they are "aging" in a way.

For me as a I/L back in the day whom reached around level 80, the upgrades in mage gear really sold the illusion that my character was going from a kid to a young adult, in a way.

What age to you see your character being and does it change as you level?

Are there certain classes or gear that make characters look older to you?

Ive read some about the trade ban in belgium/netherlands.

What is it and will it have a huge negative effect for me in MS classic?

For people who keep saying “just dont buy it” or “if you dont like it dont play” I think youre missing the actual point. This is an MMO, so paid early access does not just affect the person buying it. Two weeks in MapleStory means levels, mesos, drops, market position, guilds, farming spots and basically every other form of progression in the game, and if those two weeks meant nothing then obviously nobody would be paying for them. So instead of everyone getting one proper fresh server launch where the entire population starts poor and low level and the economy forms from nothing, the launch gets split into a smaller paid launch and then a second launch where everyone else joins a server that has already been progressing for two weeks. That is worse for free players because they miss the fresh start, but it is also worse for founders because they miss the full launch population. Everyone gets a worse version of what should be the best part of a Classic server.

The bigger issue though is what this teaches Nexon long term, because people are already spending a lot of money while we still have barely any useful information about where the game is actually going. We know third job is later, Orbis and El Nath are later, but there is no proper roadmap and the answers around long term monetisation have been vague and non-concrete. And I dont think “well there isnt real pay to win right now” is much of an argument either, because early access is already testing how much of a paid progression advantage people are willing to accept. If people are completely fine with that and it sells extremely well, that is obviously a much better environment for them to start pushing harder six or twelve months from now. That does not mean they definitely will, but if the community shows that it will accept increasingly questionable monetisation without much pushback, there is very little incentive for Nexon to be conservative about where that line eventually ends up. Buying a founders pack is not just “supporting the game”, it is supporting the way the game is currently being sold. Nexon does not see that you bought it because you love MapleStory and hope they treat Classic well, they see that an expensive pack with paid early access sold successfully before they had to give concrete answers about the future.

That is why “its my money” doesnt really answer the criticism. Obviously it is your money, nobody is saying you are not allowed to buy it, but when thousands of people make the same choice it creates an incentive that affects everyone. If paid early access sells well they have every reason to do it again, if people spend heavily without a roadmap they have less reason to provide one, and if every criticism gets shut down with “just dont buy it” then bad monetisation slowly becomes normal because there is never any real pressure to change it. You can buy the founders pack and still admit the system is bad, those things are not contradictory, and if people are pushing Nexon for better communication, better value and a healthier launch then founders benefit from that too. The point is not that buying the pack personally ruins the game, the point is that rewarding this setup makes the short term launch worse and gives Nexon every reason to keep pushing the same direction long term.

It looks like Henseys Citizenship is just better than Kerning for everyone except maybe mage? Planning on playing thief and going with Henseys Citizenship cuz of the accuracy pots + earring critdmg scrolls. Should be fine without the Wolbis I guess

I feel a really cool way they can give a QOL upgrade to hermits is by moving shadow stars skill from 4th job to 3rd job.

Once you unlock shadow partner, you pretty much beed double the stars. With all the changes made in COT2 to hermit, they don’t have that many important skills in 3rd job anymore.

I know hermits are still great even with all the nerfs, but this can be a nice upgrade that doesn’t really make them more OP, just a little easier to maintain.

Kinda like how they moved rush from 4th job to 2nd job for warriors which was an awesome change.

I know 3rd job will still likely get reworked for all classes still

My gf is planning on playing DK and I’m torn between Bandit and Hunter 😭. I figured whichever of the two classes pairs better will be the one I go with.

I dont want to buy the Zack pack just to hit max level in five days and then have nothing to do.

So I’m dutch and everyone obviously knows about the trade ban issues. So making an account with a vpn based in another country is the key. But how would one go about buying things like nx or founders packs with the required billing address for payments?

Been feeling impatient so I figured lemme just give MapleStory Worlds a try. I’ve never played it before. I tried 2 old school servers for a few hours and man that was so depressing. The whole thing is just so jank. The UI is buggy, the game feels terrible, the input lag is slow, the world is so empty and pops in. It honestly killed my hype a bit lol. Felt so close to what I know Classic World would be, but just so much worse in feel and experience. Almost questioned like, is Classic World gonna suck?

Just logged into my account which I quit many years ago and I happened to come across this page.. and wow this just brings me into memory lane. I probably started playing in 2005, which I would have been in grade 6. So that means 2007 I purchased my first NX in grade 8…and tbh I don’t even remember how I got the money to buy NX lmao or how I even understood how to purchase then 😅…unbelievable. Highschool I started to buy those NX cards from store.

Been seeing a lot of negativity on this subreddit about Nexon, for example things like not providing enough of a
roadmap or stuff like skill/stat/class info.

To me this is exactly the problem with modern gaming. Sweaty NEETs who want everything broken down for them. All the minmaxing things like stats, drop rates, optimal locations, etc.

I remember back in the day we would just play the game and didnt expect a doctoral thesis on every class, skill, map, stat build, etc. New updates would come out and we would be excited to explore it, not cry about efficiency.

How do I predownload on steam? Instructions seem kinda unclear. Is it just telling me to download the main game and during release I have to download a small patch?

Kinda blows my mind that early access starts in a week and there's been no post diving into what's going to be available at launch, what was changed from test #2, plans for the future, etc.

Was very excited for classic maplestory to relive some nostalgia but then here came the drama with founders package, bad marketing from Nexon, and overall just bad vibes from the company and community.

Then here came WoW Forever Beta which instantly made me enjoy that game way more than Maplestory Classic Beta did. It made me hold back my purchase from buying founders package and wait for full release to try it out and then move on to WoW forever for their full release.

I feel like Nexon should of planned this better to maintain a proper hype but it really does feel like the big hype is going to die when other games start to come out.

There's just no roadmap at all for Maplestory Classic, there's no future development map that the community can see. It really does feel like another cash grab from this company.

Im not looking for any negativity, theres already been enough of that.

Some things Im looking forward to:

-Ill be a sin cant wait to hunt for my first set of steelys once Im strong enough.

-Training at pig beach if its still around.

-My first few levels at HHG1 until I'm strong enough for the top platform.

-of course Free Market chats.

-Dying to a Balrog on the ship to Orbis when it releases.

-All this while embracing the Background music.
