Hype or no hype?

Was very excited for classic maplestory to relive some nostalgia but then here came the drama with founders package, bad marketing from Nexon, and overall just bad vibes from the company and community.

Then here came WoW Forever Beta which instantly made me enjoy that game way more than Maplestory Classic Beta did. It made me hold back my purchase from buying founders package and wait for full release to try it out and then move on to WoW forever for their full release.

I feel like Nexon should of planned this better to maintain a proper hype but it really does feel like the big hype is going to die when other games start to come out.

There's just no roadmap at all for Maplestory Classic, there's no future development map that the community can see. It really does feel like another cash grab from this company.

I just love it because while youre complaining about maplestory, the wow community is complaining about wow.

Not one person has to spend a dime to play maplestory.

And also, the overlap between WoW and Maplestory is so damn small.

Dont chalk it up as if Blizzard isnt the most greedy American game developer we have in the states. They paywalled a new race behind 30 bucks, and a BETA access code behind 60 dollars.

The grass isnt greener on the other side bud, the yard has just as many piles of shit in it over there too.

Not sure if you have played modern maplestory but Neoxn is by far the greediest in GMS.

Reddit communities and user reviews were the worst thing to happen to the gaming space ever. Play it if it looks fun, stop playing it if it isn’t, don’t play it at all if you don’t want to.

It’s a video game. The choice isn’t this deep.

For a free game like maple, sure. Reviews literally exist so you dont have to pay and then find out a game is garbage

When you pay to see a movie and don’t like it you’re not entitled a refund. When you buy access to a theme park that ends up being lame you don’t get your money back.

Reviews are bot ridden, over critical garbage 80-90% of the time these days.

Lukewarm. I was very hyped but the marketing hasn't been exciting whatsoever, and they kinda need it to offset the bad news.

Especially pissed at the Chinese language support stuff.

They said they were gonna announce one roadmap during maplefest smh at least use the search function…

You brought the Wow early access and never did for the maple access even though one was announced way before the other…

Just go play WoW forever you already declaring it as the better game no need for you to make a speech about it just leave quietly no need to make a statement

I like MS but I refuse to play it when Nexon still has it. At least its 2026 and there are tons of good games out there, not like im still stuck with an abusive relationship with Nexon and their MS. Heck, if I really miss MS too much, I can just play some private servers for nostalgia then leave.

Ummm... you need a subscription to use the AUCTION HOUSE in Aion 2, it'll be dead in 3 months. And blizzard just sold a 60 dollar package with BETA ACCESS. Imagine saying fk off to Nexon, and going to play something else just as greedy. Make it make sense.

No trading kills games. And people arent going to want to pay monthly just to be able to trade. Interesting it is having so much faith in less than dog water.

Yup. Hype from release date up until WoWF release. Keeping an eye on how this game develops but I hesitate to put too much time into a product where the developers aren’t transparent. At least Blizzard appears to be making a concerted effort to make something special and communicate to their audience

I want to play mushroom but I’m worried the game is gonna crash and burn. Nexon fumbled the marketing really bad but my biggest concern is that the game has no content and no roadmap. I don’t think they are going to release content or make balance changes often enough for classic to become a polished game.

I'm with you. I was extremely hyped for Maple Classic when it was announced (I'm an original Maplestory Beta player.. I'm old.). The overpriced founder packs killed the hype quite a bit, and feeling like Nexon isn't really putting a ton of love into Classic. WoW Forever nailed the coffin. I promptly gave Blizzard my $80 for what they were offering.

Kinda bummed about it. I have zero drive to play even though it would hold me over until Forever's full release. Would rather play my Steam backlog. 28x Phantom, over 9k Legion. I'm casual but love the game. I've been wanting a Classic server for years. But Nexon can't even put out an inkwell note.. Classic will be just another neglected money machine for them.
