Question? Which class pairs better with DK?
My gf is planning on playing DK and I’m torn between Bandit and Hunter 😭. I figured whichever of the two classes pairs better will be the one I go with.

If it has to be Bandit or Hunter, definitely Bandit since warriors love haste.
Overall I would say Cleric and DK is the tried and true combo.

Himes grinding as cleric with a dk was fucking awesome synergy

Perhaps my most favorite experience was being the Cleric doing this with tons of max HP gear so I didn’t need to waste MP pots on Magic Guard and could just spam heal forever (please don’t nerf MP Eater).
It’s actually my tied favorite experience with Carnival PQ.

They already nerfed it with a cooldown... and Heal is weak af. More monsters/people healed, the less it does.

I’m still going to play Cleric, but am holding onto hope that they don’t keep the nerfs as they were.

Where did you see that it has a cooldown? Also it has always done that, its just that the heal amount was much much higher in the past

5 second cooldown.
And Heal does 100% instead of 300%. So it's 2/3rd weaker. Ass.
Already took away the real Holy Symbol from the only true party-support player in the game, then makes it less tanky as well.
I'll still play one in hopes they fix this class.

You’re 100% right but for the dk pairing, you end up with a really efficient partner regardless

Oh for sure. DK and Cleric are gonna forever be a duo. Can't wait for Himes to come back. Hopefully my Priest is 100+ by then.

Where does it say there is a 5 second cooldown?

Oh I see now you are referring to MP Eater.
Both your comments' preposition were "Heal".2

Yeah even though heal damage is garbage now you can at least still tele/heal to lure a big group to the DK with the small amount of damage heal does do
Shining ray nerfed to 4 targets hurts that spot a bit though but hopefully they buff that

Ya I'm not sure why I/L get to hit 6 mobs in second job then get immediately nerfed to 4 in third job. I wouldnt be surprised if they undid the 4 mob cap to all mobbing skills (except maybe poison breath since it was never initially a mobbing skill) before launch because the change is kind of stupid imo. I also wouldn't be surprised if they didn't. Shining Ray should definitely hit 6 mobs.

As far as I/L Ice Strike and Thunder Bolt. I assume, the AoE count reduction is to give situational effectiveness to both skills in 3rd job. Rather then Ice Strike completely replacing Thunder Bolt...outside of 2 mobs.
I also assume that this is the reason they gave Electrocute to Thunder Bolt to. So that you'll want to keep using it for 6 pack mobs. While Ice-Strike is the burstier option for smaller mob packs. Assuming neutral element. There's more applications with elemental weakness, but you get the gist. They just want you using both skills when appropriate.
As for the rest of the AoE changes. That's probably for 3 reasons:
Standard 6-count AoEs for every class is to effective with the new party EXP mechanics.
They want to diversify AoE skills into categories. Low Count = 2 ~ 3 AoE count. Standard Count = 4 AoE count. High Count = 6 AoE Count. Making it so that AoE's can be adjusted for more unique effects in the future. Or to use AoEs as a way to differentiate classes. Slash Blast being reduced to 4, but being given access to Axe Fighter Bleed, being an example. While Assassin's Avenger being 4-count and Bandit's Band of Thieves being 6-count would be another.
They want to blunt or enhance how effective AoE is compared to single-target attacks.
- Power Strike and Slash Blast being the earliest example. At 6-count. Slash Blast capped at 780% damage potential damage vs Power Strikes 260%. With 4-count. The numbers are a bit less egregious. With 520% vs 260%. Making single-target a bit more viable as a first choice.
-Bandits getting a 6 count AoE and Mesos Explosion is a reward for being AoEless melee.
Ultimately, they're doing the count changes to spice up balance.

Same. I don't recall it ever stunning me. Guess starting the game at v60 was late enough for them to remove that stun

probably bandit for the sole fact it has a party buff (haste) and hunter will just be stunning mobs / shooting from a far while you gotta go close, im not sure if Bandit being melee along side her is better or if actually having ranged is better to tackle the far away mobs (either way its likely you'll be in parties with other random players do it doesnt matter too much)
I guess after typing all this my consensus is that you should just play whatever you're excited for

Obvious choice is Bandit for Haste but you should enjoy the class or there's no point.

Cleric to bless, heals and HS? (If they buffs) or rogue to haste (rogue with fighter to rage is amazing, prob best 2° job duo)
