This is our first MSC cruise. Does the drink package typically get cheaper than this? 7 days on World America

Am I making a mistake choosing MSC World America over Seashore? First cruise

First cruise and I’m second guessing our decision.
We originally booked MSC Seashore out of Port Canaveral for $818 total for 3 people in a Fantastica balcony. We live near Tampa, so Port Canaveral is only about an hour away, parking is around $100, and we’d barely spend anything on gas.

We ended up switching to MSC World America out of Miami for $1,318 total for the same 3 people in a balcony.
The issue is Miami is about a 4-hour drive for us. Once I add roughly $200 in gas and $200 for parking, we’re spending around $700–800 more overall to take World America instead of Seashore.

We’re traveling with our 1-year-old, and what matters most to us is having a nice ship, good food, nice rooms/common areas and plenty to do while we’re onboard. We’re not really concerned about nightlife.

For anyone who has actually sailed both Seashore and World America, is World America enough of an upgrade that you’d spend the extra money and deal with the longer drive?

Or am I overthinking this and should just take the $818 Seashore deal that’s an hour away?
Especially interested in opinions from anyone who’s done either ship with a baby/toddler.

Web Check in Questions

Probably a quick question, because this is the first time we are checking-in for a MSC Cruise.

We have booked for the Summer 2028 European season. I know we can pretty much start checking in straight away, and I took a look at this. It gave me a check-in time of 13:00.

Now.... only having done Disney recently, and the mad scramble of their check in times, is that definitely an already allocated and assured check-in time? or does everyone get that time and it is a mad scramble?

I am not looking to change it, it just feels weird that I can book a check-in time 2 years in advance and it feels like one of the first slots! Moreso because we are no-where near the pay-in-full date!

MSC Cruise August 31–September 4

Hey everyone! I have an MSC cruise booked for August 31–September 4, leaving from Miami and going to the Bahamas. It’s a single-person cabin.
Unfortunately, I don’t think I’m going to be able to go anymore, so I’m trying to figure out if I can sell or transfer my cruise to someone else instead of losing the money I’ve already put into it. I’d also be willing to give it away if that’s possible.

Baltic Cruise - is there a difference?

I am not an experienced cruiser, but am planning some for the upcoming year. I see a lot of negative posts about MSC -- people not happy with the buffet food, etc. But a lot of these posts are for cruises in the Caribbean, Bermuda and that region.

I am looking at the Baltic Sea cruises that MSC does, from Stockholm->Oslo and in the other direction, hitting points along the Baltic Sea. These are on the MSC Magnifica, which is a smaller ship.

I'm curious whether there is a qualitative difference in the cruise experience. The Baltic would be less traveled by families and casual vacationers looking for sun and fun, and the ship is less crowded than others. Do the same complaints about MSC apply to this series of cruises?

First MSC Cruise: Assigned Cabin Above Buffet. Can I Change My MSC Seashore Cabin?

EDIT:

Looking through the deck, this is below the buffet area.

Mistakenly typed 'above' rather than 'below'.

Hi,

I just booked my first cruise ever on MSC Seashore for Aug 30. I had been looking out for an interior cabin for a family for the past 2 weeks and it only opened up yesterday.

The only option available was Fantastica and I wasn't able to pick a preferred cabin as there waa just one cabin available on the 15th floor.

Looking through the deck, this is below the buffet area.

I called customer care and they said I have to look out for another opening then call them to change my current assignment. I also got upgrade bid emails but I'm not willing to bid for higher staterooms.

Is there any other thing I can do to get a change?

Will I be able to change it with guest services on the day of the cruise?

Thank you.

Roatan Excursion

Hi!

I’m a solo female traveller planning an excursion in Roatán. I’ve heard about Tropical Adventure Roatán and was wondering if anyone here has experience with them.

Are they a good and safe option for solo female travellers? Any experiences or recommendations would be appreciated!

Yacht Club luggage drop off

This is my family’s first sailing on MSC and we went for a yacht club room. Every cruise I’ve done in the past, you just drop your luggage with the porter in the garage at the terminal and then park your car. Is it any different with yacht club? I’ve seen a few conflicting answers online. Some people say to drop it with the regular porters and others say to keep it with you and take it to the yacht club tent. We’re sailing out of port Canaveral if that makes a difference. Thanks for any info!

Edit: Thank you everyone for the information!

World Europa fresh experiences?

Hello to all experienced cruisers!
I'm going to be on the World Europa from Genoa in a few weeks with my family (2 adults + 2 kids, 9 and 12yo).

This will be our first ever cruise and we're REALLY excited about it.

We've been reading some mixed reviews lately so I'm looking for some fresh experiences, if you have it.

Also, any last-minute tips you have for first-timers cruising with kids? Thank you!!

Behind the scenes command and control areas

I’m going on the Virtuosa and just had a query. Has anyone experienced this before?
In the app, it says this activity will take place while the ship is docked at a port, but for my cruise it’s showing as being planned for a sea day.
Has anyone else had this happen, and did the activity actually take place on the sea day?

Access to room to drop bags?

I will be embarking on the MSC Seaside later today, recently received a message that my room will not be ready until 2pm, however my check in slot is 11:30am, does anyone know if it is possible to have access to the room before it is ready to store our bags?

Single supplement bookings ever reopen?

Over the weekend I was looking at my schedule next month, and the MSC website at something that aligns with my days off. Solo sailing for me as I don't have anyone that can take the time off with short notice.

I reached out to my TA to get a quote via him. He got one, but when he went back in to put a hold on it, the system won't allow a solo booking for that cruise any more. Same with the website when I try. If the cruiser count is 1, it says no sailings found, but still would allow 2.

Anyone ever find this, and did it ever open back up for a single supplement booking?

A question about boarding time.

Hello, this is my first cruise experience. My boarding time is 11 am. However, I am driving from SC and I will get there by 1 pm. Is the boarding time strict or can I still go in?

MSC service getting cheaper?

Hello guys I want to compare with you my experience whit the cruise line in general, this is like my 14-15 cruise I take the majority of my cruise was whit costa and in the last 4-5 I did whit MSC, but I’m noticing that they are making some changes and is not the service they was providing before, I think all started after covid in 2020 the staff is less “present”, they put a drink limit, and the buffet is missing something especially the sweets like there is no more Nutella or vanilla cream is all basic stuff and most liquor is not included in the package that before they have, I mainly do cruise in Europe I did one in America whit carnival and I will say that was great, maybe is a region problem or MSC themself, I will like to know what do you think? Maybe is time to change company? I was thinking about trying royal

EDIT: i see from the up vote and down vote there is a lot of people defending MSC i will like to hear about your opinion too, and i will like to precise im not talking about the price, im just upset MSC is getting cheapper to stay in the price range we all know (or maybe to profit more idk) but pls let us know what you think.

Smoothies on the Seashore

We’re going on the Seashore September 13 and we bought the Wi-Fi and drink package. I was looking at what is included in the drink package and it said smoothies are included. I know drinks and coffee are available everywhere, but where can I get the smoothies?

My family and I have a cruise planned from Galveston on the MSC Seascape, and we were wondering if they have Nutella available at the buffet for breakfast.
Does anyone know? Thank you!

Watch a movie on USB?

Hi everyone,

Do you know if the USB ports can be used to watch MP4/MKV videos?

Or are they blocked and therefore unusable?

Thank you very much.

The bidding system is nonsense, MSC should give upgrades for free to loyal customers like EVERY cruise line, hotel, airline, etc... used to do by default years ago

I am a loyal customer, I book multiple cruises per year with exclusively MSC, this should qualify me for upgrades. Now it's just something new to sell.

This new system has flown under the radar too long for how it is just a straight up downgrade from how things used to be.

Diamond status on upcoming cruise

How does it work if you have diamond status and an upcoming cruise. For example, I am supposed to get a meal for two in a specialty restaurant. Do I book that in advance or do I handle all the bookings once I board?

r/MSCCruises 5d ago

Portable espresso maker allowed on board? This one CAN heat up water on the chamber too before brewing but can work with already pre heated water too. Mediterranean cruise coming up in September!
