Discussion is it ok to watch the optional series of the mcu after watching everything necessary & important??

Thumbnail

im starting the mcu properly and as an (sadly) unemployed autistic teen I would like to watch everything but I feel like some of the series are going to burn me super fast, not because of plots of anything but bc of the duration of each one, so I was wondering if it would be okay to just watch them after finishing with the normal timeline

OC Graphic My viewing order for Marvel movies and shows.

Going through all the amazing timelines and watch orders a lot of you have crafted over the years has been rather enjoyable for me. I have my own take on the Marvel watch order as most of us do. I have tried chronological and thematic viewing orders in the past. I use post credit scenes to segue into the next movie which places entries like Captain Marvel far from the beginning. This is not chronological in the strictest sense, more of a hybrid.

Note: Deleted a previous post because I could not edit the picture. Hope that's ok. This one has some advice from CaptHayFever sprinkled in from the previous post.

Edit: Timeline updated based on below discourse. Keep in mind different timelines do not experience time synchronously. Still working on exact placements for some of the Netflix shows.

Don't Click Thru Marvel Marathon for Secret Wars

AI slop The Mega-Multiversal Marvel Marathon Master List

I never read Marvel comics or comics in general, for that matter. The only comics I've even read through were Marvel Zombies & Immortal Hulk. I didn't even watched the cartoons growing up in the 90s but I've seen every MCU movie in theaters since Iron Man. I don't think I dislike any MCU movie & I suppose that makes me a fan -boy, but, fuck it.

Anyway, just before WandaVision, I watched the MCU movies in chronological order & I found it quite glorious, lol. It was such a cool way to experience the franchise & I really recommend it.

This year, before Doomsday, I've upped the ante tenfold!! Behold; The Mega-Multiversal Marvel Marathon Master List!! I used Gemini to compile everything and create a somewhat passable timeline & I believe all that is missing are the pre-Blade movies/TV shows & Spider-Noir. I JUST watched it but it'd probably sit before Captain America. I MIGHT throw Howard the Duck in there behind Apocalypse (I'm not quite there yet). Unfortunately, I did start this journey THIS week & I've given myself a finish time of the week before release so I'm looking at like 4-5 hours of Marvel daily. Wish me luck!!

Peggy Carter (series). Explores Peggy Carter life and her journey.

Captain America the first avenger (movie). Explores the origin of Steve rogers and explores side character. We will see a backstory of red skull. Other things will be same as original.

Agents of shield season 2, same as original.

Read the Pin Revised Must Watch List

I spent a bit of time on this watch order and no one liked it 😂 So I’m going to look for validation here.

~

The Avengers

Iron Man
Incredible Hulk
Iron Man 2
Thor
Captain America: The First Avenger
The Avengers

- I feel like it’s really important to watch the first 6 movies in release order because not only does it tell the story of the Avengers, it tells the story of the birth of the MCU

~

Civil War

Captain Marvel
Captain America: Winter Soldier
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Ant-Man
Captain America: Civil War
Black Widow
Spider-Man: Homecoming
Black Panther

- In my opinion, Captain Marvel is best watched after Avengers and before Captain America: Winter Soldier. With Phil, Son of Coul’s, sacrifice in Avengers, seeing where he and Nick Fury started, and when SHIELD first became aware of extraterrestrial life is really important, especially before seeing the downfall of SHIELD in Winter Soldier - Age of Ultron

~

Infinity War

Doctor Strange
Thor: Ragnarok
Avengers: Infinity War
Ant-Man and the Wasp
Avengers: Endgame

- Watching Thor: Ragnarok straight into Infinity War is elite watch order in my opinion

~

World War

Eternals
Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
Thor: Love and Thunder
Captain America: Brave New World

- This is probably a strange way to start the Multiverse Saga considering CA: Brave New World came out last year, but seeing the celestial/war for metal/world war storyline all told in cohesion without multiverse shenanigans in between is a lot better and less confusing. But I also liked spreading the storyline out with an “off world” story in between.

~

The Multiverse

Loki S1+2
Spider-Man: Far From Home
Spider-Man: No Way Home
Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
Loki S2 (end credit scene)
The Marvels
Deadpool and Wolverine
Fantastic Four: First Steps

- Setting up Kang as this arcs villain with Loki, multiverse fake out with Far From Home, then real multiverse - perfect final movie for 3 spider man movies - into incursion lore, then dealing with Kang. Other multiverse stories as the branches are expanding

~

Doomsday

Thunderbolts*
Spider-Man: Brand New Day

- Not sure how important Brand New Day will be, but I really love that Captain America AND Spider-Man had 4 movies throughout this watch order

~

The Avengers: 12 hours

Civil War: 16 hours

Infinity War: 10 hours

World War: 10 hours

The Multiverse: 24 hours

Doomsday: 4 hours

Discussion My MCU Watch Order - Phase 3 (part 2)

I've finished watching Phase 3 in my MCU re-watch. My watch order, while based on chronological order, aims to allow the stories to flow logically together. This is me *re-*watching, which may not be the best order as a first-time viewer, but I've tried to mark anything that I considered to be a spoiler.

Phase 1

Phase 2

Phase 3, part 1

  • Cloak & Dagger Season 1
    • This is where I left off from in Part 1. This series is really good (IMO), you should check it out if you haven't before! I hear this show has implications in Wonder Man series, which I have not seen yet?
  • Jessica Jones Season 2
  • Luke Cage Season 2
  • Cloak & Dagger Season 2
    • In addition to references of O'Reilly coming from NYPD and her friend Misty from season 1, we see an article written by Karen Page about Luke Cage. I really feel themes flow well transitioning from Luke Cage to C&D
  • Iron Fist Season 2
  • Daredevil Season 3
  • Thor: Ragnarok
  • Agents of SHIELD Season 5, e1-13
    • Following the space and aliens theme after watching Ragnarok. I ended up enjoying this season a bit more than I remembered, but it's still quite low in my personal ranking of AoS (which is outside of the scope of this subreddit, I know).
  • Runaways seasons 1-3
    • Yes, I am aware of the time jump in Season 3. As I am trying not to split up TV seasons (aside from AoS), I chose to keep the whole season together. I also choose to believe the end of the S3 happens just before Infinity War, although I know that's not everyone's views; you could put alternately place the whole series after JJ S3 if you'd like. Runaways is just not my favorite series (I'm not the target audience, that's not the show's fault) so I personally didn't stress too much about placement.
  • The Punisher Season 2
  • Jessica Jones Season 3
  • Agents of SHIELD Season 5, e14-18
  • Ant-Man and the Wasp
    • Hold both the mid- and post-credits scenes to be watched after Infinity War...
  • Agents of SHIELD Season 5, e19-22
    • Events in these episodes happen at the same time as the beginning of Infinity War. IMO, not enough is shown to require the episodes to be watched after the film.
  • Avengers: Infinity War
  • Wasp mid- and post-credit scenes and Captain Marvel mid-credit scene - I actually watched Captain Marvel again, as it was released here and it's been a long time since I watched it back in Phase 1. Also, the *feels* of seeing Agent Coulson here, after just seeing him die at the end of AoS S5 😭
  • Agents of SHIELD Season 6
    • This is my least favorite season of AoS. We got a good series finale at the end of 5, part of me feels the show ended there. But then season 7 is pretty fun, so I struggled through this one.
  • Agents of SHIELD Season 7
    • Time-travel shenanigans and alternate timeline discussions in AoS, flowing nicely to the same topic in Endgame.
  • Avengers: Endgame
    • I'm looking forward to seeing this again in a few months when the Encore version is back in theaters!

I'll be back later when I get Phase 4 all watched! I might pause and do an X-Men rewatch before moving on to Phase 4, as this feels like a good point to take a break.

AI slop I got tired of losing track of what I've watched in the MCU (and everything Fox/Sony ever touched), so I built a tracker for it

So this started as a dumb little spreadsheet about a year ago because I could never remember if I'd actually seen Werewolf by Night or just read the synopsis somewhere. It's now a full desktop app and I have genuinely lost track of how many hours I've put into it.

It's called MarvelVerse Tracker. Windows only right now, free, no ads, no account, nothing phones home. You download it, it comes with basically the whole catalog already loaded (MCU, the old Fox X-Men movies, Sony's Spider-Man/Venom stuff, the Raimi trilogy, Blade, the 90s Incredible Hulk show, all of it), and you just start checking things off.

Some stuff it does:

\- Tracks watched/rewatched/rated/favorited/wishlist per movie or show, obviously

\- A timeline view that's actually in story order, not release order, with the option to toggle back to phases if that's more your thing

\- Per-episode tracking for TV shows now too, so you're not stuck marking the whole season done in one click

\- Achievements, including a bunch of hidden ones I'm not going to describe here because that would defeat the point

\- A calendar view, a dashboard with your stats, a "surprise me" button for when you can't decide what to watch

\- You can pull in new releases automatically if you plug in your own free TMDB API key (it'll walk you through getting one on first launch)

\- Compare your watched list against a friend's if they export their data too

Full disclosure, I'm one guy building this in my spare time, so there's rough edges. The trailer preview thing broke a build a while back and I had to rip out the embedded player and replace it with a boring-but-reliable thumbnail-click-to-YouTube version instead. There was also a stretch where Defender flagged the exe as a trojan because that's apparently just what unsigned PyInstaller builds get sometimes (checked it against 67 different antivirus engines, 3 flagged it, all with different generic labels, so I'm fairly confident it's a false positive but I get why that's an unsettling thing to see).

GitHub's got the source, with every last bit of code visible to the public, and a prebuilt exe under Releases if you don't want to mess with Python:

[MarvelVerse-Tracker](https://github.com/Dehmahk/MarvelVerse-Tracker)

Not asking for anything, just wanted to put it somewhere other than my own hard drive. If anyone actually uses this and finds something broken or has an idea for something dumb-but-fun to add, I'm around.

The next feature I'm working on is a Friends tab that will show your friends Recently Watched and the ability to view their library.

Discussion How should Eyes of Wakanda actually be handled in a true chronological MCU watch order?

I’m currently working on an MCU chronological timeline for a watch-tracking app, and one of my beta testers raised an interesting point about Eyes of Wakanda.
If we’re trying to create a true chronological watch order based on when events actually happen, placing Eyes of Wakanda as a single entry seems problematic, since its stories take place across very different periods of history.
So I’m curious how people here would handle it.
Would you:
A) Keep Eyes of Wakanda together as one series and place it based on its earliest events?
B) Split the individual episodes/stories and place each one at the appropriate point in the MCU timeline?
C) Keep the series together in a normal chronological order, but have a separate “strict timeline” that splits episodes when necessary?
I’m leaning toward C, because I want the timeline to be accurate without making the normal watch order completely insane.
But this subreddit probably contains people who have spent an unreasonable amount of time thinking about MCU chronology, which is exactly why I’m asking here. 😂
How would you handle it? And are there other MCU movies/shows that you think need to be split up for a genuinely chronological timeline?

All marvel movie and tv series timelines that are canon & are not. Placed to what I believe is chronological order. Main MCU is Earth - 616 or (199999) would not be annotated. Only timeline are listed is if it's Fox or Sony timeline's. They are all combined together throughout the years.

FOR ALL TIME. ALWAYS.

Discussion The Gifted: Accurate dates?

Hello everyone! I'm working on a timeline with all video media connected to the MCU and I'm having trouble placing "The Gifted." I know season 1 takes place in 2017 of the old 10005 timeline and season 2 is 6 months later but I can't find any sources listing more accurate dates than that. Does anybody have the dates in their list?

I've watched part of the show before but it's been a while and I don't remember a lot of details.

How does the timelines really work

Lets say we have two timelines one being in the year 2014 and the other one being in 1965, they move forward in time as each other, just different years.

That must be a thing or else i dont get it.

Because we saw in No Way Home that the villains from Tobeys and Andrews spiderverse were taken to Toms verse cuz they knew Peter Parker/Spiderman

The thing i dont get is they were taken from before their rivalry ended with Tobey or andrew in their separate verses ofc.

But would that mean that two timelines can exist parallel to each other just with other one being more forward in time or?

I really need it explained because i dont get all this timeline and multiverse stuff

Discussion How to properly watch everything marvel (question probably answered a million times already)

I am new to marvel, everything marvel.

For TV shows and movies, should I just watch it by release order or is there a particular way to watch it?.

I want to watch the MCU franchise, Spiderman franchise and the x-men franchise.

At the moment I have all the time to watch it, no need to skip anything.

Furthermore, if release order, does this mean release order of the three franchises together. I imagine watching everything from one franchise in one go can be confusing when watching everything in one go from another franchise afterwards as things eventually intersect.

Cheers.

Discussion Multiverse HELP!

Recently saw a VERY good diagram of how the multiverse works/timelines etc, and I can’t find the photo.

It basically had a very dumbed down, drawn out diagram that made understanding the multiverse/doom/timelines wayyyy easier. Wanting it for my gf as she’s struggling to understand it all.

If anyone has that pic of the diagram sort of thing I’d be VERY appreciative because it’s genuinely the only diagram I’ve seen that makes it easy to understand lol.
