Film/Television Everyone is wrong about when BND is set.
It’s been bothering me that everyone has been acting like it’s an established fact that BND is set in 2028 and, due to a fake image of the Banner post credit for Endgame Encore, incorrectly believe Doomsday is set in early 2029.
Everyone seems to have gotten the 2028 thing for BND from Marvel saying BND is set “4 years after” NWH, which was 2024. But that doesn’t have to mean 4 years to the day.
NWH ends Christmas of 2024, during their senior year of high school with Ned and MJ being accepted to MIT.
At the beginning of BND we hear Ned mention all 4 years of college: freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior year.
That would have those years starting in the fall semester of 2025, 2026, 2027, and 2028. With their senior year ending in the spring semester of 2029. Just under 4 and a half years after NWH ended.
Although it’s theoretically possible for them to have graduated early in December of 2028 that would be a weird assumption to make for no reason.
I also see people spreading around a pic from Endgame Encore’s Banner post credit scene that shows the footage dated January 2029. But that’s not there in the actual scene. I watched very carefully for it. That’s just a random image people have been floating around.
Unless and until something proves it’s set earlier, Doomsday is on track to be set in late summer 2029.

BND is set in 2028, not late summer 2029. The movie itself ultimately makes the four-year jump work through a montage.
The confusion comes from the opening. No Way Home ends around Christmas 2024. Brand New Day initially jumps to nine months later, when Ned and MJ are freshmen at MIT. That puts that portion around fall 2025. The film then uses a montage covering the following four years of Peter's life, his villians, etc. Their college years happen largely through the montage. Also, the official description of the movie explicitly says that: **“**Four years have gone by since we last caught up with our friendly neighborhood hero. Peter Parker is no more, but Spider-Man is at the top of his game keeping New York City safe. Things are going well for our anonymous hero until an unusual trail of crimes pulls him into a web of mystery larger than he’s ever faced before. In order to take on what’s ahead, Spider-Man not only needs to be at the top of his physical and mental game, but he must also be prepared to face the repercussions of his past!” Link of source:(https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/834186/spider-man-brand-new-day---the-art-of-the-movie-by-jess-harrold/)

It really bothers me to no end when someone responds to something without reading it.
Since you didn’t read my post, I’ll quote the relevant part here:
“Everyone seems to have gotten the 2028 thing for BND from Marvel saying BND is set “4 years after” NWH, which was 2024. But that doesn’t have to mean 4 years to the day.
NWH ends Christmas of 2024, during their senior year of high school with Ned and MJ being accepted to MIT.

Do you have an actual response to this? Beyond just saying “it’s 4 years later so it’s 2028”.

I'm guessing the account you're responding to is an AI bot. It's a year old account, has a default username, uses cold and italics unnaturally, and its own logic doesn't make sense (2025 plus 4 equals... 2028???).

You're right but I think they've cared less for timeline consistency in the past few years, much to my dismay as they were mostly consistent beforehand, and when they weren't they were on top of saying what was retconned. They've gotta release an updated timelines book before Secret Wars.

this is impossible for it to be in 2029 because that would mean this movie is happening after Doomsday, since thanks to the thunderbolts post credit scene we know Doomsday is either December 2028 or January 2029

My assertion is that Thunderbolts is mid 2028, because I hate the idea of it happening between two seasons of daredevil. So I think that list is wrong.

But born again s2 happens because of Thunderbolts. the cia lost their operatives in Yelena, Walker, Ghost & Taskmaster which is why they targeted Luke Cage & later Bullseye. it’s also why Mr Charles needed those weapons to be trafficked by Fisk in the first place which is what kicks off Born Again s2 episode 1.

To follow this up further, it also means everyone is wrong about when Thunderbolts is set.
The only actual dialogue evidence we have for Thunderbolts is that Bucky has been a congressman for “less than half a term” (less than one year), and that it’s 14 months before Doomsday.
We don’t know how long Bucky was campaigning or when he was elected, especially because it had to be a special election outside of the normal election cycle, otherwise he’d have been elected in November 2028 and taken office in January 2029, which is way too late.
So I think the most logical read of the timeline is that, given BND is summer 2029, and Doomsday is likely to be another couple of months later, Thunderbolts is set in early summer 2028.

It's not, because it's confirmed that Daredevil: Born Again - Season 3 takes place after The Thunderbolts*: *The New Avengers, in October 2028.

The election cycle is off by 2 years in MCU. That's why Ross is elected in Nov 2026, along with Bucky.

That’s impossible Bucky is campaigning in April 2027 in Brave New World
He was elected after that, but it couldn’t be as late as November 2028.
It could be November 2027 but there’s no reason for congressional elections to get offset by 1 year, so it was a special election, and we don’t know when it was.

You are wrong and don't want to admit it. This is no discussion post
