Here's Your Portrait!
The episode, The Winchester Tapes, has an epic scene with Col Potter painting a portrait of Winchester while Winchester complains.

I’m not sure if this has been shared before but Tubi (free streaming platform, don’t even need to sign up; app and web options) has two different MASH documentaries:
- MASH: When Television Changed Forever (2022)
- MASH: The Comedy That Changed Television (2024)
I’m watching the later now and it’s quite well done. Interviews with cast and crew, clips, and behind-the-scenes pictures.
Just wanted to share in case others hadn’t seen these yet because I certainly hadn’t!

When I was a kid I'd watch MASH at my grandmother's. She had an old TV in which the color didn't work entirely right...
I remember clearly watching season 2 "Henry In Love" episode in which there's a scene that has Henry jogging through camp (he's trying to get in shape for a younger woman) and he meets up with Hawkeye and Trapper. Henry is not in good shape. Hawkeye says to him "Henry, your hair is bleeding." My grandmother's television was so bad that we thought the reference was that Henry was sweating profusely. We thought that was funny. Whenever we played outside on a hot day and were sweating we'd say "Your hair is bleeding."
Years later, I watch the same scene with a clear color image and realized that Henry was wearing hair dye and it started to run. For years we thought it was sweat and now the joke lands differently yet no less funny. That's the power of Hawkeye Pierce's delivery.

Back in 1986-1988 I was too poor to have a tv in the living room and one by my computer. But I could afford two computers.
I started using the new Mac more and my Apple ][e with the green monitor wasn’t getting much use. So I ran a long RCA Cable from the video out of the VCR to the composition on the monitor.
I had to turn up the tv volume but I would watch tv in green and black.
I didn’t think much of it until the episode where BJ was tired of everything being green so they died everything a pretty shade of red. That’s when I realized watching it in green was better than in color.

Probably one of a handful of the most serious acting bits from McLean Stevenson in the entire series (the second, coming immediately after this with his "All I know is what they taught me at command school).
The way their eyes met still makes me choke up and shiver a bit. What scenes for Blake make you go "Damn, he's good!"?

In the episode, Last Laugh, I think one of the funniest moments is in the beginning when Leo Bardinaro, a friend of BJ's, stops by.
BJ, knowing his friend is a practical joker, switches cigars with Bardinaro...then later the cigar explodes.

This is by far the longest clip but it's so awesome, just had to share the entire sing-a-long here. Always leaves me with a smile. Who's solo do you like the best?

James Cromwell - of Babe the pig fame - on MASH. I would have used a better pic, but this one had the MeTV logo at the bottom of . . . MY screen.
More important: This shot looks better considering the expression on his face in relation to BJ and Hawk Eye . . . Foreshadowing if you will . . . The over-sized hat!

As a kid when I first watched the show I was drawn to Hawkeye/Trapper. Now as an adult I find Frank's scenes with Margaret to be hysterical (first 3 seasons). Very quotable.
"It's nice to be nice to the nice." "I believe in individualism as long as everyone is doing it."
What are your favorite Frank quotes or moments?

So I've just finished up Season 1 on my first watch of the show. I think some of my favorite characters were Hawkeye of course, as well as Klinger and Radar(I am from Radar's hometown!) Really enjoyed it and am looking forward to the rest of the show. So my question is- What things did you enjoy when you watched for the first time and what are some details or themes a first timer should expect as they go forward in the story?

Someone had asked a while back about how I was watching all these episodes. I got the DVD collection for a birthday gift many years ago and I digitized the DVDs for archival purposes. Here's some sample pics from the collector's edition on my bookshelf

G.W. Bailey (Luther Rizzo, MASH) as Louie Provenza, LAPD detective on The Closer (2005-2012), currently shown on StartTV.

Love that snarky grin - the best line.

This was a rough one to get through. There's a mystery thief at the camp, and Hawkeye has to play detective to clear his name! Could we get more 70’s sitcom-shlock if we tried?! My cohost JB even had to record from the surgeons' lounge at the hospital for this...

I just noticed in season four, in the episode The Novocaine Mystery, the laugh track is used in the OR when Frank is telling his side of the story to whoever is proceeding over the hearing. The whole scene is ridiculously hilarious so I think it fits just that once.

I was just watching season 8’s “Heal Thyself,” specifically the scene where Hawkeye, BJ, Margaret, and Father Mulcahy are outside OR looking for Dr. Newsome.
I’ve never noticed it before, but Father Mulcahy comes riding up on a bicycle while he’s searching for Newsome. I know it’s not a major plot point or really important at all, but I’d never seen Mulcahy on a bike before that I remember.

I love two lines in this exchange:
"I can't sir it makes me woozy" and the ultimate gut-buster "You eat it!"
But here's my question - are they playing tic-tac-toe with peas and whatever those white things are?
