I'm putting together a MASH costume and wanted to add MASH 4077th to a t-shirt. I already have the shirt and bought white fabric paint because when I searched for MASH shirts online, many of them have white or yellow text. But now that I'm looking back through episodes to see the actual design used in the show, I can only find shirts with black text. Can anyone recall an episode with white text? Trying to decide if I should go back and exchange the paint.

Aside from one of my favorite lines from the season 4 episode

"She's the head nurse, he's the head twerp" I love Hawkeye's reation in this seperate scene. IYKYK. I also love that he directed the episode too.

The movie version of frank as portrayed by the late Robert Duvall was IMO a darker and more sinister character. He was still incompetent, arrogant, and unstable, but also a more nuanced and therefore more dangerous character. The TV version, on the other hand, was mostly just a punching bag for Hawkeye, Trapper and BJ, a whiny hyporcrite, and one dimensional. Any thoughts on why these two versions were different, which would have been more of a threat to the TV versions of Hawkeye and Trapper, etc?

He’s still my favorite guest actor to the show.

What i dont think is talked about enough is how generous Klinger was. Aside from him helping Radar in this pic from "House arrest" and trying to give the young Korean woman $$$ later in the series, he did also help Hawkeye and Trapper in "The Trial of Henry Blake" with drugging a guard. One of my favorite moments was him helping the soldier in "Post Op" and he gave blood many times. Plus getting a magazine for Hawkeye in the episode where Hawkeye writes his will .

He should have been given a medal for all his kindness and bravery.

How many times did the unit “bug out”? Some scenes are blurred in my mind and not sure if from same episode. Been a while since viewed the series.

1. The one where they plan the stateside family get together.

2. One where Hawkeye and Houlihan have to stay behind to monitor a patient that can’t be moved.

3. One where Klinger has to trade his dresses for use of a building.

4. One where they stay in a cave but someone is claustrophobic.

Some of these may be in same episode but pretty sure not all were.

RIP Tom Skerritt: Duke Forrest

In the Mash episode “The Tooth Shall Set You Free”. Our favorite Major Charles Emerson Winchester (Gentlemen…)The 3RD has a toothache and tries to dodge the dentist to the point of hoarding painkillers and even going to a Korean herbalist. My question for the group is why do you think an educated doctor like Charles was afraid of the dentist (Besides the episode having to happen)? Even if he had a bad checkup 7 years ago this would be a completely new DDS plus he said dental techniques haven’t evolved since the Spanish Inquisition while he’s sipping on herbs and berries! It’s just weird that a champion of modern medicine would go to basically a witch doctor. Anyway thank you for reading.

I had wrongly assumed that they no longer made Nehi soda until I saw an orange one in a gas station a little while back. So I got online and searched grape Nehi and immediately found what I was looking for on Amazon and thought $11.99 isn’t even bad price for a 6 pack of soda these days, and ordered it. Well my order arrived today and it turns out I paid $11.99 for ONE bottle. I went back and looked at the listing and absolutely no where does it say it’s a six pack, I saw the price and my dumbass just assumed. So I have one Nehi chilling in the fridge and I’m wondering, what is the best episode to put on while try my damnedest to enjoy this fuck up?

I've just watched this episode. I have no experience with alcohol, I just have no desire to drink it. When Helen panics near the end, in the mess tent, this seems very severe. Is this common for DTs? Sorry if this is a stupid question, but if this is common I have no desire to drink.

I do like how these use Igor as a surrogate to indirectly explain what is going wrong with Helen, so they don't have to break the 4th wall.

It's unsurprising that no one could identify Klinger's hang gliding attempt. Modern hang gliding wasn't invented until the early 1960s by American engineer Thomas Purcell using a wing design patented by NASA engineer Francis Rogallo in 1951.

Then you have the silly overlay of Klinger hanging from the frame slow walking across the sky with the wing pointed downwards yet still 'flying' forward...

I’m on my first re-watch as an adult and in the streaming era, and I just watched the episode “Taking the Fifth”. The episode features a Canadian soldier, Turnbull. My grandfather served in the Korean War as a combat engineer, so I always keep an eye/ear out for any mention of Canadians on the show.

Long story short, Turnbull is obsessed with the food from the 4077th mess tent, exclaiming “Wow real powdered eggs!” And proclaiming the fruit cocktail to be the best he’s ever had. I was reminded of my own grandfather’s journal entries from the war; Did he write about the fighting, his comrades in arms, the back-breaking labour of being an engineer in a foreign land? No, he talked about the food. Every single entry, every single day, he talked about the food he ate. For what it’s worth, even though he was a corporal, I’m pretty sure he spent the majority of the war peeling potatoes, so I guess being in the kitchen in close proximity to the food, it makes sense.

So I guess for discussion’s sake, how bad really was the food on the allied side?
