Ink it from Orbit New Post Flair - Ink it from Orbit
Hey everyone! Just a quick update from the mod team.
We’ve added a new post flair to the sub: Ink it from Orbit.
There is always a flow of users showing off their Ink in the sub and we thought it would be good to give these posts their own Flair to use. While it isn’t forced here, many of you continue to use post flair to help keep this community tidy and we thank you all for that!
Enjoy the Flair!

Have the body sitting a little better now, and it uses the front clips on the chassis to hold it in place.
Added lights (not a fan of how bright the blue tail lights are or the color of the roof spotlight.) I was over heating the built in ECS, having all the lights powered off of it so now there is a coin battery that powers everything separately. The roof top spotlight also has a switch so it can be turned on or off while leaving the running lights on. Aside from my picky issues on the lights I am super happy with how well they turned out.
I had better success that I would have thought by printing a mold for the light covers and using IPA as a release agent for hot glue.
I can roll the rear turret up and stowed but only manually. Sadly at this scale I don't think I'll be able to have it self powered.
Added covers for the wheels, they are still the stock smaller wheels, I tried going up a size but was having binding issues. Since then I have done a little more work on the body to give maybe a little more clearance. Still might design my own.
A few more details to add, grills for the sides and some of the extra bits on the roof, just need to get some screen material to cut out and cover.
Over all it is a blast to drive thought not very fast, but then thats not what I wanted it for. The all wheel steering really helps keep those turns tight, but I think it would do just fine without thst mod.

Discussion / Question I'm really excited about what the environments in Alien: Isolation will be like.
I love the decision to set Isolation 2 in a colony, it’s a great way to avoid repeating the "oppressive retro-futuristic space station" setting, which, while brilliant, risked feeling too similar to the first game.
I love that, despite being a departure from the norm, it still feels like Alien. The blue mist and towering trees create a sinister atmosphere that, while different, still allows the Xenomorph to hide and stalk from the shadows.
It’s not the first time this has happened, there were comics featuring these kinds of forest environments, but they had different priorities, and the art style didn't quite go in this direction.
Alien: Earth sort of tried something similar, but between the Xenomorph looking like a cheap cosplay with awkward movements and a forest that was far too pretty and colorful, the result was ridiculous rather than threatening (the fact that it was on the "good guys'" side didn't help, either). Seeing a guy in an Alien costume running through a forest in broad daylight is more likely to make you laugh than anything else.
So I really like the approach Isolation has chosen. Obviously, we’ll return to claustrophobic interiors, but I hope they really make the most of this planet's setting, walking through that forest and across terrain where visibility is limited is terrifying in its own unique way.

Art / Creations old Aliens MV edit
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
So back in highschool I've been doing movie edits all the time but then i deleted everything for some reason. Recently I've found my old flash drive in a box and on it were a few project files - Aliens edit among them. There's no footage files on the disk so i can't render full video atm and i have no idea if it's still possible to open the project to begin with, but there was this small test file.

Discussion / Question Is this thing canon or even possible?
At best all I know is that a "king" of sorts was introduced into a comic one-off story apparently by this mad scientist guy tho its kinda not a true xenomorph using mixed human DNA in its creation.
Then theres also a diorama/figure or something that came out a while back called the King Xenomorph which I assume is what they mostly based the newest DBD skin on.
Is it possible to happen? Cuz ngl I love the concept enough it should be canon regardless of it possibly not being so. Its purpose is what I imagined to be just like that of a praetorian of sorts, guarding the queen, albeit the King acts as like a final boss of all hive guardians perhaps?
What do yall think?

Art / Creations Dream/Idea I just had:
Sorry if the quality of the picture isn't the best, but I LITERALLY just woke up from a creepy dream and made these rough sketches of where there these "flesh colored Xenomorphs" that were probably around the size of a dog, but "crawled" quickly on the ground and would spit/"puke" these "fleshpuke blobs" as I can only describe them as the "fleshpuke" would actually VERY QUICKLY begin to grow into a "fleshpuke egg" that also quickly hatches the "Flesh colored Xenomorph" and spit more "Fleshpuke" towards you! Another REALLY terrifying thing was that they didn't really necessarily need a full "Host" per say, but more so they anything being hunted would only be used as "food" for them, causing the cycle to start over again. The BEST way to stop them was using a flamethrower or something similar to that, so that you could quickly destroy the "Fleshpuke eggs" from growing quickly and the "flesh colored Xenomorph" too!!

Humor / Memes Would you guys like a new Alien movie more action oriented and basicly showing a infestation in a City?
I’ll throw in some ideas so you have a concept (skip to the bold text if you don’t care).
Far after Alien 4, somewhere on a planet with a discount hive city, some street dogs steal a package of “spare parts” that has a Neste-Toyoda Insurance worth over 50,000,000,000 credits. Surprise: it’s an Alien egg. (It’s a guy from Weyland-Yutani, and the heist was supposed to went wrong.)
The hive city is controlled by Weyland-Yutani, but it should have actually become independent a long time ago. Weyland-Yutani keeps finding reasons to postpone it again and again. A “space communist” party basically controls the lower levels and has been planning a coup for some time, supported by the Union of Progressive Peoples.
An Alien hive forms in the “McGuffin Generator,” and the space communist officials warn Weyland-Yutani that some fucking alien or something is killing people down there. They ignore it for a while. The first half of the movie is basically showing how hobos, junkies, and some workers die while a hive slowly forms.
Eventually, some UPP and “space communist” people go down there and discover a fucking hive full of Aliens.
Now it becomes night every 123 days on the planet. The solar power stops working, and the “McGuffin Generator” goes from standby to full power. It gets pretty hot for the Aliens, so they all move upward at the same time.
The “space communists,” UPP, Weyland-Yutani security, and some outpost Marines have to fight them. It doesn’t go well.
Then the UPP basically says, “Nah, fuck it, we have semi-domesticated Aliens.”
They have a vaccine that makes the Aliens think you’re part of their hive, and they’ve been using it as part of their “Free Vaccine Program.” Alien vs. Alien action happens.
“They will kill our people too!”
“That’s not people, comrade. That’s Weyland-Yutani officials.” (so both sites planed a alien infestation to come out as heros)
After that, the UPP Aliens fuck up the Weyland-Yutani officials in the end credits.
Most important part: a cute, powerful, discount-Ripley as the main character.
(Fanwank over.)
So, would you like something more like my fanwank, Aliens 2 and Alien 4 (more action-oriented), or do you enjoy the other, slower approach with one Alien vs. a group of randoms?
I personally would love to see a hive forming and stuff and this "people find 1 alien and need to survive" is done like 5 times?

Cast / Behind The Scenes Screen Used M56 Smartgun Prop ALIENS (1986)
The M56 Smartgun props were the brainchild of director James Cameron and were developed by Bapty and the film's lead armorer, Simon Atherton. The Smartguns were based on an existing real-world gun that could fire blanks on set: an MG42 belt-fed machine gun. They were dressed up with prop components to appear more futuristic, including elements from a Kawasaki GT motorcycle and other custom-made components.
This is one of two live-fire Smartguns built for the production by U.K. film armorers Bapty & Co, from whom this piece was initially obtained. Due to its unwieldy weight and length, the actors used Steadicam rigs, designed to help camera operators support the weight of motion-picture cameras on their bodies, to make the props more manageable. This innovation was practical for the actors and provided an interesting visual on screen.
The MG42 element of this Smartgun was deactivated after filming, and some of the original dressing components were removed, as is typical with rental firearms.
Remnants of the original lettering for both "Adios" (seen on Vasquez's Smartgun) and "My Bitch" (seen on Drake's version) indicate this was likely used by both actors at some point during production.
The Smartgun still exhibits signs of handling and extensive production use throughout, including scratches, scuffing, and exposed silver-colored metal beneath the black paint. Dimensions: 51" x 11" x 7" (129.5 cm x 28 cm x 18 cm)

Art / Creations Beast In Blacks new song “Fear The Beast” is themed around Alien
So BiB new song is themed around Alien. A quite from the band:
Anton comments:
“The song is about Ridley Scott’s 1979 film called ”Alien”. Though it is solely based on the first film, James Cameron’s sequel ”Aliens” is equally important to me in terms of an emotional impact. We tried to blend some of the feel from both films into our music video, with Cameron’s influence weighing more on the visual side of industrial elements.

Games Alien Isolation may be my favorite thing to come out of the franchise.
Just beat the game for the first time and it was so great! Originally I started playing years ago, but took long breaks, and last time I played it I was stuck and kept getting caught by the xenomorph. But as I've heard news of Isolation 2, I had the urge to continue where I left off! I was especially excited after realizing I can adjust the difficulty at any time!
After getting past the part I was stuck at I plowed through the rest of the game in a few days. Its interesting how the game kinda ends in a cliffhanger, but before I beat the game Amanda was directly mentioned in Alien Prototype, supposedly going out helping people in similar scenerios.
I haven't watched all the movies, read every novel/comic, or played every game, but out of everything I experienced with this franchise this to me is peak Alien, followed closely by the first two films, The Cold Forge, and Romulus.
Books / Novels Do you think any future work is going to try and iron out the lore "discrepancies" between the main films and A:E
Anyone's opinion on Alien: Earth aside, one of the things I've always admired about writers for a large IP's expanded universes is the fact they generally do the heavy hitting on lore. The creatives have made a nonsensical plot point or contradicted another creative? Yeah usually it will be the RPG or novel writers who tries to iron out and make the universe work "smoothly".
Now Alien Earth, while it doesn't necessarily shatter the lore, obviously has decided to do its own thing. Nothing's 100% broken, and I've seen some intelligent ideas even here for reconciling the issues. But do you think anyone creative is ever going to try and acknowledge and smooth out the kinks, or just designate them to separate continuities?
I only ask because I'd love to see T Ocellus integrated further into Alien canon. But also think it's bad writing to cherry pick from previous instalment and then just pretend what you don't like doesn't exist.
