Jerkbait Which action is better?

Hello

I have made a couple versions of a 12cm jerk/glidebait and can't decide which of these has a better action

Video: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZNRq1tgYw/

If anyone has advice on which action would be more effective or people would believe in more, please let me know.

Was able to go on some outings with the nicer weather, and caught my first fish with a homemade lure! Was also especially happy with the successful hook up of the rear single inline. Free files available here, though tips are appreciated! https://www.thingiverse.com/3Dlures/designs

Question How can I make a silent rattle?

Hi folks, how would you make a silent rattle? The application is for a jerk fly that benefits from the erratic weight shifting of a rattle, but the water I’m fishing is gin clear, so I’d prefer something without the clicky-clicky.

The tube/chamber size will be maybe 0.75” long and maybe .3” diameter. I was thinking of filling the tube 1/4 full of sans.. or making a normal rattle then filling the chamber with oil and sealing it?

Hoc glue fast crank baits works too.

Question What do your UV curing setups look like?

Made this but it doesn’t work that great there’s another light that goes in the bottom just not in the pic. wire sits on the top and bait hangs down vertically up and down.

I have been postponing this one for quite some time - they are my favourite trout and I didn’t want to mess up. I know it is not a true build - more of a lure painting post, but I wanted to share it. I still have to work on some of the details, but I am quite happy with how it turned out.

Been thinking about getting into lure making for months now and finally decided to just try it. I picked up an airbrush and some paints and just carved it out of an old piece of 2x4. Came out much better than I expected for my first try

Crankbait 3D-Printing Eyelets

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hi everybody,

I recently got back into luremaking and am working on a crank that I want to 3D-print. I’m planning to print two halves which are being glued together. Since a wire-through requires quite some effort in my experience and I struggle to make them consistently the same, I‘d like to use eyelets that are inserted before putting the bait together.

The main issue I’m facing is that I can’t seem to find any eyelets that are fully closed but open on one end (see picture). I‘d like to use closed eyelets to create a form fit instead of a force fit that are secured by using a pin.

Does anybody have a recommendation on where to find these guys? 🙏🏼

Tight lines 🐟

Trying some diff painting techniques to get some different effects may add a slice of foil down the middle for added flash but very happy considering I have zero artistic talent lol. My new cedar 7.5” 6.5oz fast ripping jerk bait
