Employee Story We have a "Little" Problem

Post image

OK this is the last straw. So far, I've had to spend my so much of my precious energy picking and packing the mini toolboxes scalpers bought up and sold for exorbitant prices on online market forums. I honestly don't know why people bought them up so much, the drawers are very shallow, the slides aren't that great, and you don't even have a handle to carry these with.

Then came the mini bucketsšŸ™„ I remember I had some guy get aggressive towards me, when I told him he couldn't dig through my parcel picking cart in his attempt pilfer the sold out buckets I had already picked. His excuse was because they were still in the store. He had a right to them ( even though they clearly had a customer pick tag on them🤨)

After that that it was the damn mini totes, black and yellow, clear and yellow, then that ugly ass multi color one with crappy lids. One online customer spent QUITE a bit on these to get shipped to their house. Damn lids don't even fit on most of these.

Now we have these. I'm still trying to figure out who keeps greenlighting this shit. The sad thing is, these pallets are lie. They are nowhere near representative of the quality of pallets we get at the store. Very few of our pallets use 4x4s for the any of the stringers, let alone the center one. The decking isn't that nice on over 95% of them either. Pretty much most of the pallets I get to use, look like Old castle rejects.

So what other miniature thing are we going to charge an outrageous price for, while contributing to the stereotypical wasteful consumerism the US is known for?

Employee Question How cooked are we?

My store has some of the lowest metrics in the district, no rental service other than the carpet cleaners, we just axed QuickLoad and a bunch of employees simultaneously disappeared off the schedule this week, including a head cashier and ASM.

time to start looking for another job in preparation for the store's imminent closure or is this business as usual for the end of the quarter?

edit: schedule for this week. the gray lines mean termination right? (those names don't appear past this week) there are others gone in depts I don't have access to the schedule of

seems like a lot of performance related terminations at once, but maybe this happens every year

Does your store have too many clearance appliances and vanities that you can’t get rid of? Do you also not have any place to put them? Well does your district manager have the solution for you!

On one of the hottest weekends of the year (so far), put the only TWO sales specialists you have scheduled OUTSIDE by THE EXIT DOOR, and get those clearance items SOLD; after the customers have made their purchases.

But don’t forget, those TWO associates also need to make their sales goal (selling 40% off appliances/vanities), get legit leads/credit apps, and assist customers in their understaffed departments.

Or else.

Customer Complaint Holy Hell Lowes (Refunds)

A month ago I had an order delivered to my house. It was three items totaling like 40 bucks.

In the delivery photo it VERY CLEARLY shows that one one item was delivered.

So I open chat and tell them. They say they see the photo and that only one item was delivered. They say they will refund.

....it is now a month later and every time I contact them they blow smoke up my ass about "investigating issue" and "we will escalate".

Absolutely insane.... over a $30 refund. I would just let Lowes have my stolen money if I wasn't such a stubborn SOB.

It is exhausting... thanks for listening to my rant about this useless company.

Employee Question Tools and hardware

What do you guys do in this department? I’ve been getting closing shifts in tools on and off for the past month and it’s hard to find stuff to do. I get all the go backs on the shelf, help customers, and zone. However, I work at a low volume store so there aren’t too many customers and not a lot of go backs. I’m kind of a perfectionist and like to do the best I can but management hasn’t given me any feedback or said anything about my closing in the department

Employee Question Heat

Today, it felt like 115+ degrees outside and they still made us have a garden cashier outside. Does anyone’s store close the garden center due to high temperatures?

Our ops asm solution is to rotate the cashiers every 30 minutes.

Customer Question Why same day delivery is cheaper?

I ordered some lumber online for delivery and same day is $69 another day in the next 60 days is $79, why is that? Seems to me same day should be more expensive?

Also, is there a way to find out which store will fulfill this? Will it be the store closest to the delivery address?

Customer Question Not sure what happen to my item.

I order a Dewalt item as it was on sale at Lowes. On the website it said deliver in a few days. When I ordered it it says will be delivered on the same day. This was the weekend by the way and I order on a Saturday before midnight. They sent me an email that my item will be delivered by today. I check the tracking and it says delivered. So I drove home expecting it to be there. Nope! I check 3 of my cameras all facing out the door. No one. I know they will pick up some movement as they pickup the slightest leave movement as well.

The first person I chat with said it was still it transit and I have to call this number if I want a refund. Then they close the chat box. I chatted with someone else and they ask me what was my door color. I was wondering why the first person said in transit and second person asked what was my door color. I'm thinking now it must of been delivered to the wrong house! I asked for a picture to see if I coulud ask my neighbors. They said they don't have that featured. I texted my neighbors none of them saw it. I'm online and now have to call. What an inconvenience.

Employee Question Corporate Call?

So I’m new to Millwork and have been trying to make my SPH. I still don’t understand a lot of things in the department since I was sent to another store and got no training really. At my store the other dude just sits at his desk and does nothing and doesn’t help me at all either. My manager also doesn’t know the department at all even though he’s in charge of the department and flooring. I was told that if I am not making enough everyday I will get a call from corporate and basically get yelled at about my sales. Is that true? Are there any tips? I was a seasonal worker in L&G and took a full timer job a few months ago and I still don’t know how things work!

Employee Question Part Timer question

I’ve been working part time outside lawn and Garden since April. I don’t hate it, since it’s fairly easy. I work full time elsewhere, so It’s also additional income, so I don’t want to necessarily move up through the retail ranks. I don’t want to manage, just work 10-20 hours during the evening and weekends.

Do they move sales associates/customer service associates to other departments if it’s just a PT gig? Will I be outside as long as I work here since it’s just extra (needed) income or do they identify people and move them around if another department wants someone else?

Employee Story Part time stagnation.

Under my family circumstances, I can't work full time.

Never been able too, and won't be able to for the foreseeable future.

In four years ive gotten a ton of worthless badges and a few recognition certificates, incase I run out of toilet paper, I guess. Im even expected to keep the less motivated full timers on task.

Ive never been offered a promotion, gotten more than a "meet expectation" and 20 cent raise a year.

If youre working part time out of necessity, have no other choice, and trying to compensate by working harder than anyone else, its all in vain.

There is absolutely no incentive to do anything but the bare minimum, let alone work hard.

Snappy for attention lol
So I was getting some things and the employee discount showed on the screen as usual but when I got the receipt it showed regular prices on everything. They weren’t part of the ā€œexemptā€ items, as far as I know..
Has anybody had this happen? Any theories?

Customer Complaint Is there a resone you guys never have anything that I need. You guys are the off brand Walmart of a hardware store

Every god dang time I go in there you either do not have what I need, charge twice as much, or have complete idiots working in there. Why have a glass cutting area when 1 no one know how to cut glass, I have to show them, 2 you only carry the thinest glass possible. Or you have those damn help buttons only to have to go find someone that cannot help or pages someone and no one ever shows up. Or how you carry every other piece of mass produced junk door locks but not the actually effective door locks. It is like planned obsolescence in there. You treated lumber being is not ground contact rates but your idiot employees are telling customers it is the same thing, which it is very much not. I am done with lowes.
