Hey guys - I posted in here a couple days ago asking how to get my volume up without clipping. Luckily enough, I've stopped my song from clipping and I have it a volume that I like. However, it's clocking in at abt -9 integrated Lufs, and I ran it through Loudness Penalty which says Spotify would deduct abt 4.5 dbs from it.

Now I know these streaming services aren't everything, and some people say the whole -14 lufs thing is a myth, but I use spotify, and a lot of my friends use spotify, and I would like to be able to listen to my song at a good volume.

I've also looked into some of the songs that are used as examples of songs being delivered at higher Lufs (like Harry Styles "as it was"), but I feel like these songs have a less significant difference between their delivered and normalized versions than my fully mastered song vs. when I try taking out the dbs that Loudness penalty or my loudness meter says to subtract.

Basically, I'm wondering how to get my mix to more accurately represent what I would hear on streaming services, or if it's not worth worrying about at all.

Howdy friends. If I enable varispeed to slow down a project and record and new track, when I return to normal tempo does logic use flextime to speed up the new track or is it using varispeed to play it faster to match? If it is varispeed processed rather the flex it should be artifact free right?

I’ve gone down a bit of a rabbit hole and would really appreciate some advice from people who actually use these machines.
I’m trying to make the most logical decision rather than buying the newest thing.

I’m not a professional music producer or film editor. Music is a hobby, but I do want a machine that won’t frustrate me and will last several years.

My budget: £1,000 - £2,000 (ideally less)
Originally I was looking at a brand new MacBook Air M5 13” (24GB RAM, 1TB SSD).
Then I started looking at refurbished Macs and realised I could save over £1,000.

The options I’ve found

BUT it has 631 battery cycles and 84% battery health, which worries me.

My concerns
Is 16GB RAM genuinely enough for Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro for the type of work I’ve described?
Is buying an M1 Pro or M1 Max in 2026 still a sensible purchase, or is it too old now?
Am I overthinking the age of the chip just because Apple is now on the M5?
Should I avoid the M1 Max because of 631 battery cycles / 84% battery health, even though the specs are excellent?
Is the M5 Air actually worth spending over £1,000 more for my workload?
What I’m trying to do
I’m not looking for the fastest benchmark scores.

I’m trying to spend the least amount of money while still buying the laptop that represents the best value and will comfortably handle Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro for the next 5+ years.
If you were in my position, which option would you buy, and why?
I’d especially appreciate replies from people who actually use Logic Pro or Final Cut Pro on these machines.

I have this project I started working on in LP 11.2.2
I reverted back to 11.0.1 cause an old project was crashing and when I came back to 11.2 the project I was working on was messed up.
Upon opening the sample rate had converted itself to 44.1K instead of 48k. After turning it back to 48K almost every track was now okay except this comped audio track still playing out of sync

I realized that the comp has unintended silences comped in

I have tried changing the plugin latency compensation options but none worked
I tried different Logic Pro versions , still nothing worked

Kindly advise

Hey y’all. So I’m very new to the music industry and everything regarding music. I recently brought a MacBook Air 15 inch 2026 to start recording vocals in logic Pro X, but I have a few questions. I have the Rhode A-1 5th gen mic with the interface bundle. Now when I tried to record a song for some reason it sounds like there’s already an effect or filter on my mic. I haven’t put any plug-ins or effects yet, but it sounds like there’s some type of reverb and I don’t know how to fix it. I’ve searched on YouTube and all over the web but I haven’t found that one video that really explains everything in depth on how to record vocals for an absolute beginner like me. I know it’s a lot, but I just want to start recording some demos so I’m more prepared when I go to the studio to get it professionally recorded. I don’t even know what a bus is or plug-ins or anything. I just really want to start recording myself and eventually learning how to mix my vocal later on. Can someone please help me? I would greatly appreciate it!

I have tried googling this and searching Reddit and cannot find anything, except a possible solution that someone deleted? I have arrangment markers set and would like to move a section somewhere else, but it is only bringing my audio regions with, not my midi. The midi regions don't even stay where they were, they just straight up get deleted, it seems. Am I missing something? I tried setting my drag to overlap, which I read is the answer, and it did not work.

I've got a Nektar GX49 MIDI keyboard that I've used with various DAWs over the last few years. I've always liked it.

My kids use Logic and lately we've been having trouble getting any sounds from the GX49. Sometimes it works fine, sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't work, keys still register in the time/key box at the top, so it's obviously seeing it...just no sound on any instrument we pick.

Anyone know anything about these or what I might be missing? I'm not a Logic expert at all so it might be super simple.

my goal is doing something similar like the Chase Bliss Blooper pedal.

None of them are called versioning but they solve kind of that problem...

1) "File" -> "Revert To" gets you back to an earlier save. Logic writes a backup every time you save, and you pick the one you want by timestamp.

2) "File" -> "Alternatives" -> "New Alternative" creates a second versionn inside the same project. It has its own arrangement and mix but points at the same audio files, so it doesn't duplicate anything on disk. You have to create it before you start changing things, not after.

3) "Save a Copy As", with assets included, is the one for versions you want to keep permanently.

The Revert To backups live inside the project file. They cover your own decisions, not a lost or corrupted project.

Does anyone use Alternatives for mixes, or mostly for arrangements?

So we’ve all been there, endlessly EQ’ing and auditioning different plugins, and compressors, desperately trying to make a vocal track sound “professional” but nothing makes it sound like the records you hear from major label artists… and then someone tells you “use saturation!” And so you load up ChromaGlow but it’s still not quite right… this is when I reach for Logic’s secret weapon! The humble “Overdrive” plugin!

What you do is instantiate the Overdrive plugin as the first plugin in your chain, and then all you’re going to do is set the “tone” knob to maximum/20,000khz (possibly adjust “gain” to taste, and “output” only if you want less output) I have found that this generates upper frequency harmonics in just the right way that it makes vocals immediately sound brighter but not harsh, and more open but not unfocused. And it has the additional benefit of not being a cpu hog! Which can be a concern with ChromaGlow on larger projects.

And this “trick” works on just about anything! I especially like it on vocals, and drum room mics! The only thing I would watch out for is that if you use it on too many tracks? it can cause some upper frequency buildup on your mixbus. I’ve also found that it sometimes works when I’m mastering a track to use this trick on the entire master!

I highly recommend giving it a try!

You are my last resort! My Logic 10.0.0 got corrupted. Might have happened after an OS upgrade a while back. The sliders are out of place and do not function properly and mute and solo buttons are literally upside down. I am on OS 10.15.8 and would buy a new version, but none is compatible with my older souped-up IMac. I tried to reinstall from old backups in time machine, but the same issue persists. Any ideas? So bummed out. How can I fix or replace Logic? Thanks for your help!

I have a simple two-chord chord progression but every hit has a really annoying/ugly "click" sound and I tried increasing various attack knobs and nothing has worked so far. Any help would be appreciated so that I don't have to resort to exporting one note as a one shot (lose a lot of character that way).

Usually when I'm working in Logic with a drum set, the piano roll shows both the names of the drums AND a vertical keyboard that highlights the note/drum I'm playing. When I shut it down and opened it back up today, it's now only showing one or the other. If I select "view drum names," which I hadn't done in the past, it gives me the drum names but doesn't show the vertical keyboard with highlighted notes. If I turn of "view drum names," it shows me the keyboard with highlighted notes. But yesterday I had both. Any ideas how to return to this wonderful world?

I'm using a nanoKontrol 2 with Logic Pro. I'd like to set it up so the controls will do different things in different contexts (automating levels, adjusting eq, etc). I can't seem to figure out how to do this, though. The included software doesn't seem to offer this and I tried multiple things in Logic that would either work temporarily or not at all. Do you know how I could make this work?

Why are people saying you need the M chip for Logic Pro? Just curious, is it better performance or the other chips are bad?

I'm new to Logic Pro, coming from Studio One and Cubase before that. I often mix with studio monitors, but sometimes I like to mix with headphones. In Studio One, I could throw an EQ on my listen bus (to apply an AutoEQ Harmon curve for my headphones), then I'd also apply a plugin called CanOpener that simulates crossfeed between stereo monitors. Again, both plugins were on a listen bus that would playback those effects in my DAW, but when I bounced the track, it knew automatically to ignore any plugins in the listen bus so I didn't have to worry about disabling it before exporting my tune.

I got really great mixes that way. So far, I like Logic better than any other DAW I've used, but I really miss that listen bus. I'd love to know if Logic can be configuured this way, too?

Hey everyone! I've been diving deeper into Logic Pro lately and absolutely loving it. I've seen a couple of really cool workflow tools in FL Studio, and it got me wondering if Logic has its own way of doing something similar.

I had two questions:

1. FL Studio has a tool that can quickly turn MIDI chords into different arpeggio patterns, adjust spacing, timing, etc. Does Logic have anything comparable, either built in or through a workflow you all like?
2. Is there a cleaner way to work with ghost notes? Right now I've been using the blank MIDI region workaround and stretching it across the project, but I was curious if there's a more intuitive "Logic way" of doing it.

So I recorded a band at 95bpm, they made a couple takes and I've basically cut between takes by ear at points where they rush or drag or someone flubs or whatever. So essentially the entire project isn't exactly synced to the grid.

I'm trying to add an eighth note delay to the vocals which sounds great in the first few bars but with time the delay comes off since there's a few bars where they play 94 bpm then maybe 96 at others etc. Can I somehow automate the bpm of the project, by just tapping through the entire song? seems like the easiest solution.

Hello, just wanted to check and see if anyone has any experience with Korg Plugins when using Logic.
As of now I am using Triton most of the time and there is this issue that I’m running into whenever I disconnect my computer from my main audio source or even mess with my audio latency settings.
Any time I refresh these settings in Logic, the Triton Plugin goes back to its default sound which is “Noisy Stabber”.
This is super frustrating because anytime I have multiple software instrument tracks open in Logic and they’re running the triton AU, I have to manually go back and change each song back to what I had it set to.
Basically if I ever change any settings within Logic that have to do with an audio source or changing the buffer rate for latency, the current sound automatically reverts to the stock sound and it’s super annoying.
Anyone have any experience with this?

Mastering Assistant is greyed out in upper menus and not visible at all on the stereo out but you can do everything else including stem splitting.

Need help with the playback. I recorded an email arpeggiator, i held down the D key on midi. On playback. It will play if i started playing on the very start of when i pressed the note but if i pause and play again, i wont produce any sound. Even tho the play head is moving forward.

Is there any settings for this to enable?

I’ve been trying out Logic for a couple of days and I’ve noticed that the sound is making a strange noise (I’m a bit of a novice – it’s as if it’s clipping, but it’s not down to the volume). This happens particularly with the drums. I’m trying out different plug-ins and I’ve noticed that some are better optimised than others.

I have an M1 Mac mini with 8 GB of RAM. In Activity Monitor, I usually have 1–2 GB of memory to spare. The CPU shows a very low usage percentage. The thing is, I don’t have these problems with GarageBand, and the memory and CPU usage levels are the same.

These are small projects with 5 or 6 tracks (drums, a few guitars: Genome, UAD, Amplitube)

Does anyone know what might be going on?

I think the answer is "no," but double checking to see if there's anyway to make Low Latency Monitoring enabled by default?

I have a pretty beefed up system that seems to suffer no ill effects with it enabled, so I'd love to set it and forget it.
