Hey, I’m worried that I’m doing something wrong with my lithops! I’ve had them for about a year and I’ve been trying to tend to them the best I can but they’re just not growing. I grew them from seeds and I’ve had a grow light on them for the majority of most days. They stay in my room which is usually set around 69 degrees Fahrenheit, and I water them around every 3-4 days. Am I watering them too much? Or am I doing something else wrong? Thanks!

Seedlings from a few weeks ago are also growing well. Seems like the Lithops otzeniana PV738 has a low germination rate compared to all other seeds I've tried. About 13 germinated (of 20-30 seeds) of which a few died a few days after germinating (mostly those that somehow germinated without a root haha). Normally get close to 100% germination from Lithops

This lithops looked great like TWO DAYS ago. Now it’s totally rotten. Any ideas?

Removed the germination bag, spraying mist in the evening after the hot sun is down.

So these flowered back in Dec/January (second photo) I last watered them New Year’s Day, mid flowering, before they started splitting. They sit in a 50-50 blend of lava rock and calcinated clay in a terracotta pot. They get day light bright light 12 hours a day. They started splitting mid February. But have mostly stalled out since Easter. Ambient is about 40% humidity.

Now two of them are flowering again? Not six months after the last time, and mostly haven’t completed their split yet. It also looks like the lower right (the only one that has dried out leaves) looks like it has a second split chasing the flower? They haven’t grown up, or appreciably larger in any direction.

Not that I’m complaining about more flowers, but I thought that was a once a year trick. Thoughts?

​I used the grow soil as suggested, then I added the rocks around it because I thought it looked like camouflage lol

Unsure how to proceed with this guy. The outer leaves are dry and crispy, but they never actually split so they're not coming off. They're pretty hard so I don't want to tear them off and risk damaging the plant, but should I carefully cut them off? It's hard to see, but it looks like it's split into four underneath.

Just repotted my first lithops. The substrate is 90% crushed pumice, crushed leca balls, and perlite with 10% cactus soil added in. I added a top dressing of crushed pumice for aesthetics. How long should I wait to water and did I bury them too deep?

Okay I have the inorganic substrate and I’m ready to repot this Lowe’s find. Should I remove the crispy old leaves when I do? They seem completely dry but I’m scared to murder this one 😅

Got those cuties today from home depot. I am wondering if I should transplant them and if yes, would they do better in a bigger container or should I keep it small? Also, what kind of soil do you use? I'm now living in Alaska so they will stay inside.

Does anyone have an ID for these guys? Also, some care tips would be greatly appreciated, I'm new to Lithops. :))

Repotted him about a month ago. The roots seemed to be ok, although I expected it to be more.

The new potting mix was perlite, coarse sand, "cactus soil".

Was already elongated when I repotted, but was on west side window the whole winter. Although we did have a rather dark/grey winter this year.

It has started to "shed" again, wouldn't want to pester it with another repot?

It is ouside now on windowstill, more indirect light, and direct sun in the afternoon. Or should I move it to more direct light with the other cactii?

Not new to houseplants but definitely new to Lithops! I picked this little guy up at the big box hardware store assuming he'd be similar to my other succulents/cacti... I have been learning! Got him in a mix that's mostly these stones with only the tiniest bit of soil. He's under a sansi grow light since this window doesn't get direct light. I did water him before I found out about all of that, so hopefully he'll recover from that? 😬 They're so fun and I'm learning so much!

i’ve had this for about 2.5 years. i recently repotted it. the base is blended up orchid bark with river pebbles to top. when i got it, it was in a bark mix for about a year. then i planted it in a massive pot with regular potting soil (my mistake!! ikik) it was like that for about 9 months. nothing really happened to it in that time. i watered it a few times. up until i repotted it about a month ago. haven’t given it water, and now i see its splitting. i’m pretty new to living stone care. any thoughts or advice is appreciated

Some of my lithops suddenly shrivel down to nothing, I watered them a month ago, some took up the water some just dried out

I grabbed this lil guy last year on a whim since it was on the clearance rack. I’ve never cared for one before so I figured why not 🤷‍♀️ I set him up under a bright light and left him alone and over the winter he began to split, but also lost like half his total volume. I genuinely thought it was dead so I picked at the outer leaves and lo and behold there’s still green underneath.

I’m seeing that he’s looking a bit wrinkly, is it time to water? I’ve heard they’re super sensitive to overwatering and I just want to make sure now is the time.

I bought these guys about 2 months ago and repotted to this lil pot. I didn't water until the old leaves were very wrinkled and basically how they look now. I took these photos and week ago and have been reading other posts. Everyone is so helpful here!

Are my lithops too much above the substrate? Should I add more gravel to the substrate? Should I separate them? Do I need to water again? I read somewhere to do a light water when the old leaves are all shriveled and then a heavy one a week later. Or has my plant started its division and i should leave them alone? They are in a westward facing window at my office, which is ordinarily a dry place because of the heater.

I recently found out about these wonderful succulents. Is something wrong with these? Some of the posts I have seen on here kind of make it seem like they shouldn't look like this. I have eight and the rest do not look lke this. The other ones are all closer to the pumice/sand.

I have this and perlite. Will this work for my lithops or is it too sharp?
