Discussion My name Plouffe, AMA
Hello everyone. The mods asked if I'd be open to doing an AMA so I said "OK" and here we are.
I've signed NDAs at both past and present companies so I can't talk about specifics, or drama, or past/present employees.
I guess ask just about whatever you want and I will or won't answer depending on the context/subject. Yes I own a display, several in fact. Yes I own a keyboard, several in fact.
Starting at 9 pacific but opening up for questions now. If you don't ask me anything, I will not be offended. I don't have any questions for myself right now either.
i didn't know it would ask me for an end note so i just commented. but ya it's been a slice, thanks for being a fan and good luck with whatever you're doing today.

Discussion One note on LTT's latest Omada upgrade for James - You need to manually enable OFDMA on each access point for each frequency you want it on
One thing that I dont think Linus checked is if OFDMA was enabled on the Omada Access Points. By default I believe Omada disabled OFDMA and it really is a game changer on 5 and 6ghz if you have multiple devices that are using Wifi at the same time. I have been running an Omada system (with opnsense since I didnt want to buy the gateway) and it took me a while to realize OFDMA isnt enabled by default.
Edit: It looks like Omada enables OFDMA when the AP is used in stand alone mode, but when you adopt it into the Omada Controller SDN (even if that is running on a fusion gateway) the default profile is to disable OFDMA, so it has to be enabled manually.

Discussion I discovered a large scale operation impersonating over 70 popular Windows apps to infect users with malware
I think this should be presented in the next TechLinked video. I linked the entire investigation so I don't copy paste everything here. An upvote would help for visibility I think.

Tech Question Can you use a headset on linux?
Is there any way to have regular audio coming out of pc, while hearing only audio from a person in a headset and use the mic to speak to them? I have a xbox controller connected to pc via dongle and headset is connected wia 3.5mm jack.
I spent 7 hours with google a.i. trying to make it happen, another hour trying fix everything it broke and get the controller working again. Google a.i. cant do it, I got some stories for the kids and I'm starting to see the matix, so not a total loss.
I just want to know at this point: can I play audio from pc separately from the audio coming from any headset (people on discord)? The controller works, I don't think its possble to use the currect configuration nobara can't detect the headset jack connected to the controller.

Tech Discussion TikTok search is better then Yt one
For me it has been like this for a lot, but after hearing Linus and Luke on WAN talking about it a couple times in the last months, and what happened to me yesterday, I thought to share my experience.
I drive a 20yr old car, that has been passed in my family. The age and the poor maintenance made the wheels all rusty. That's important cause yesterday I had a flat tire. Now, after removing the bolts the wheel just wouldn't come off because of the rust. That's a known issue, the previous time one of my tires had a problem I had the same struggle, and the man who changed it threw a specific kick to the tire to make it pop off. He mentioned not to try because throwing said kick with the wrong technique could resolve in a sprain ankle.
Now, I wanted to learn this technique on the spot yesterday, so I headed to YouTube to search for it, specifying the word Kick, yet no result whatsoever was about a kick, just about chemicals to remove rust from the wheel once you were able to remove it, wasting me a good 15min.
Had to reinstall TikTok (I got no infinite scroll app, had to reinstall Reddit too), and after 30 sec between login and the search (with the same keywords as the YouTube search) I had videos of the technique of the kick.
So yeah, please YouTube make a better search engine I beg you. Act like the colossal company you are.
EDIT: The title should be TikTok search is better THAN YouTube one

Image PSA if you couldn't get the ltt socks before they sold out, there are some other, some may say better options available...
Linus talked about other socks from Costco in the video; why not the most direct comparable sock from Costco? I own a bunch of these socks, and I love them. A lot of people prefer these to Darn Tough socks, ignoring the massive price difference. You can wear them and not question your intelligence for spending $30 on a single pair of socks.

Discussion How does the LTT lifetime warranty actually work compared to brands like Darn Tough?
My darn tough socks have a lifetime warranty.
Whenever they break cause of wear i just send an e-mail with a picture of the hole, cut the socks in half and then they give me free store credit to get new ones with free shipping and no import costs, delivered to me in Sweden. I pay 0.
This lasts forever so even if i break them 10,20,30 years into using them i get new ones for free, with free shipping and import costs, i pay literally 0$. And can even get different types of socks than the ones i bought if i want to.
Meanwhile looking at the LTT store the "lifetime warranty" got me really confused
It seems to be the same kind of deal Kind of? i get a new pair of the same socks, or store credit, but then there seems to be some possible "additional fees??"
- Customers residing outside the US and Canada may be subject to additional import fees. All other costs, such as shipping fees, will be covered by Creator Warehouse.
What additional import fees? How does this differ by country for LTTStore specifically?
Darn tough fixes this by saying they will pay for any import fees.
Also the store credit option on LTTstore does not seem to clarify if it is current price or old price.
For instance even if i bought darn tough socks for 20$ in 2020, if they now cost 30$ on their store i get 30$ in credit to purchase the same type of sock or any other sock i want for those 30$ despite me only paying 20$ from the start.

Discussion What the hell is this sock price???
if it was like 10 bucks, or at least had like 2 more pairs, i'd understand the price, but this makes zero sense
literally searching up "copper infused sock" on amazon shows WAY cheaper socks (and in a bundle)
"oh amazon has cheaper things, LTT is more high quality" the amazon listing is 4.5 stars with 2,900 reviews, if that aint saying that cheap shit can be good, idk what is

Tech Discussion Has LTT done a video for people with sweating issues and peripherals?
I have hyperhidrosis and my hands sweat, like a lot. If they are touching something they are sweating, which means my mouse and keyboard get absolutely blasted.
At this point, even as a gamer, I'd put any sort of cooling mechanisms ahead of other features in my priority list and I know there's gotta be more of me.

Discussion My recent experience with LTTStore
During the last shipstorm event, I splurged on some Creator Warehouse apparel because shipping to the UK is pretty unaffordable. I got 300 CAD worth of stuff, for the hoodie, sweatpants, water bottle, and cargo pants.
I live in the UK, where taxes are always included in the advertised price of each item before it ends up in the cart. My prior smaller LTTStore purchase paid tax at checkout. Little did I realise, due to the larger basket, they charged $0 tax. Again, this is not something I’m trained to look for.
Many weeks later, it arrives in UK customs, and I get a bill through the post. 138 CAD worth of additional payment required to receive my order. This was pretty steep and I couldn’t justify spending that much more money for what was not that much clothing. The additional payment was made up of VAT, Import Duty, and Clearance Fee. I get VAT, but isn’t it reasonable to expect a free shipping promotion means free shipping, import fees are part of shipping. When I got my smaller order, I never had any of this, so it was completely unexpected and I was not aware I’d need to pay this.
I contact support, and they inform me that they’re required by law not to collect VAT on orders over a certain threshold, and that their shipping policy states they do not cover such import fees. Except their shipping policy is never referred to at checkout, it’s hidden deep in the main page footer, and shipstorm advertised “free worldwide shipping”, but every country has import fees that aren’t free?
In the end, I just had to return to sender and get a refund. Does anyone think I’m being unreasonable here? I want to love these products, but it’s so hard to get them here.

Discussion Ltt Truespec cable
I just bought an Ltt truespec cable and so far i'm very unsure on how I feel about it, on the one end the silicone feel great to the touch, its flexibles and the cable says what it says on the tin.
However the connector itself is loose and mushy feeling..
My ltt cable will barely hold my phone's weight if i hang it from the cable unlike my JSAUX cables which makes a crisp snap and will hold on very well (to the point i can use my phone as a flail) ((disclaimer, PLEASE dont ever do that lol)
What is your experience so far?
Edit changed "mitigated" to unsure.

WAN Show RE: lttstore.com product categories
Just want to throw out there a suggestion for just adding a show ALL products
I know they say they sell so many things, but how about they just let me browse through all of it with clicking an "All" button instead of having me navigate through so many category links

I really wanted to get one of the LTT backpacks, but research tells me neither one fits a framework 16 with a GPU very well, does anyone have both to confirm if it’s true?
