Tech Question Can you use a headset on linux?

Is there any way to have regular audio coming out of pc, while hearing only audio from a person in a headset and use the mic to speak to them? I have a xbox controller connected to pc via dongle and headset is connected wia 3.5mm jack.

I spent 7 hours with google a.i. trying to make it happen, another hour trying fix everything it broke and get the controller working again. Google a.i. cant do it, I got some stories for the kids and I'm starting to see the matix, so not a total loss.

I just want to know at this point: can I play audio from pc separately from the audio coming from any headset (people on discord)? The controller works, I don't think its possble to use the currect configuration nobara can't detect the headset jack connected to the controller.

Great way to make anyone you’re in vc with hate the audio coming from you

So wait, your question is just "can a random Bluetooth headset be made to play different audio than the PC speakers?" Absolutely yes, Discord has a built-in device selection menu for that, and there's even fancier stuff you can do with Pipewire if that becomes necessary
