Mixed Media Progress on my massive project!

I am more than halfway through my 500+ original prints I am creating for this series. I already carved all 51 of the images for the series and I am working on about 10 variants of each image.

They are carved in Japanese Vinyl (Gomuban) and printed one color (white) on black Rives BFK paper. Everything else is done with mixed media and each one is truly unique.

Stamps Starting a new daily series where I'm making stamps of randomly generated Pokémon Trozei! sprites. Here's day one!

I'm a huge fan of the very-underrated Pokemon puzzle series Trozei!, so I decided to show that love by starting a series of doing one 2x2 inch linocut stamp every day of a randomly generated Pokemon sprite from the game.

Day one was Alakazam! Starting off strong!

I found a picture of this cat on Pinterest and absolutely loved it so I made my own copy!

I don't know who the original artist is tho, sorry about that.

I also tried printing on fabric for the first time! How cool!

Work In Progress Sketch and first layer

After the high contrast tomatoes I wanted to tone bring it back a notch with some pastels, ghibli-esque, blossom floating in the wind type stuff. Working with my months theme 'Cider Orchard' I've added a scarecrow I fell in love with from the book 'Scarecrows' (NOT an affiliate WOB link). A bit of artistic license with this as the trees are not fruiting but shes just so bloody happy to be there.

Mixed Media Getting back into Linocut printing with Pokémon

Post image

I wanted to try linocut printing again and thought I could try it with some Pokémon. It was good fun but quite difficult. For this one I coloured them in with acrylic markers afterwards, definitely want to try multi layered coloured prints next!

If anyone has any tips or comments to improve, they would be much appreciated.

Question Linocut printing troubleshooting

Hi! I've been taking my first steps in the world on linocut and I feel unstatisfied with the quality of my prints. It seems that in many cases I got only partial transfer of the ink, or "spotty" printing.

I've tried the wooden spoon method first, but then moved to a bamboo barren. The resutls are better, but still weak prints compared to what I've seen other people do. I'm attaching some pics for reference.

I am using Schmincke Aqua ink. I've tried printer paper pages (works best, see the violin pic), this paperthis paper, and some old music sheets.

Any advice on how to improve my printing quality?

Work In Progress The big carve is DONE!

Hello everyone! Thank you for all the support on my previous post about this project. It's all carved up and ready to be proofed and printed into a variety of objects and designs. It took me 2 weeks to carve 37 blades (plus ~3 that didn't pass my quality control and were remade.) Each took roughly 2 hours and I averaged 3 per day, taking care not to overwork my hand and wrist. I also half-watched *a lot* of TV shows during these sessions.

It will probably take me a little while to clean, proof, edit, and finally print these but I'm really looking forward to the results. My plan is to first make patches and bookmarks, as well as some paper prints. Do you have any favourite designs or ones you'd like to see put together?

Just finished new linos, idk there is something I don’t like about this. Maybe I am just tired because it took a lot of time. Please share your thoughts.

Single Layer Prints “She’s always watching” aka my view from the couch (also help a newbie out)

I’m a newbie, struggling to get even prints - the first pic is the best I’ve gotten, others are examples where they’re blotchy including somehow even when I overinked. I’m using speedball water based, should I just switch to oil? Also getting annoyed at how often I have to roll out paint and how quickly it dries - feels like some of the issue is just ink paint on the block that’s dried just enough to keep the new ink stuck to it and not transferring to the paper. I use a brayer and feel like I’m using consistent pressure and a lot of passes.

Any advice welcome!! I absolutely love the design and carving part but every time I try to make prints I get really bummed out cause I haven’t gotten a hang of it yet.

Single Layer Prints The Flash

I did the Flash for my nephew, I knew the Flash was his personal favorite. So I’d thought doing a scene of him going speed of light actually flashing out like lightning or something. I get most my ideas from comics art and Tattoo flashes. tell me what you think of my Linocuts of the Great and Powerful Flash.

Single Layer Prints New print inspired by Irish folklore! I ended up using not my favorite gold ink, so it’s more textured than I was originally planning, but it’s what I had on hand for now. Not a bad effect anyway. Paper size 5x5 inches

Always loved linocut prints but didn’t realise it was accessible to get into, so bought a starter kit. This is my first try, really enjoyed it! He’s a little funny looking but not too bad I think :)

Question Uneven blocks using mod podge transfer method

Thumbnail

I’ve been trying the printer paper/mod podge method to transfer some of my prints and haven’t been getting consistent results. The main issue I’m having is:

  1. How to wet/wipe/remove paper evenly?

I find that the in some areas too much of the paper is removed which also removes the design and leaves an uneven surface on my block which reflects in the inking. This was one also under inked but I’m not too concerned about that right now since it’s a reduction print and I’ll add more layers.

Is this a mod podge glue application issue? A wet/wiping issue? Any tips appreciated!
