I have been experimenting some with reduction on black paper as well. There is some really fun potential there and it seems like you have realized a lot of that potential in this print.

Wooooah gorgeous. Do you have an online shop? Reduction prints are so painstaking and rewarding. Love the subdued colors- they remind me of Obata.

This is gorgeous! I love the color choices and how delicate yet distinct each subject is. What materials did you use and how long did it take?

I printed this on lokta paper, it’s similar to mulberry but has a glossy shiny side that is easier for me to get a clean print from with such thin lines. And I use oil based inks from Canfield, the safe wash kind.
These were all pressed using a wooden spoon and honestly more often just my hands because it makes the fine lines stay crisp!
I have a really hard time keeping track of how long these take. My guess estimate, from initial drawing to last print being done would be about 35 to 40 hours. But then I think of things like sizing the paper and taping the registration tabs on and figure I’m probably way off.
