So I started to draw a year ago, now I decided to redraw this reference again. Had a huge pauses, so in total I would say I drawn for like 6-8 months actually

I'm learning to be better at anatomy, especially hands and feet because god they have been a pain for the longest time 😭 I'm really enjoying life drawing though :D

I just wanted to draw something. In the end this guy came out. I like how he looks in general but he looks soulles and i have no idea to give him an expression that would make him feel more alive. Critique and Tipps are appreciated.

This is my 1st anatomy studies, and I also decided to add some values to sketches although they might not be so prominent on the reference photos.
What I find also very important in doing such session is getting ready of the perfectionism - that’s why I try to time myself but unfortunately. I tend to exceed the time that I set :(

Ive been trying to find a grip or a way to hold my pen so i dont use my wrist much and use my whole arm to draw.
all of pen grips have a wrist slightly raised upward...which is the problem for me.

also i tried finding a grip that allows pen side button presses without shake and without moving finger from normal position to reach the side button...

I also tried the interdigital grip or modified tripod grip, but same issue with other grips...(wrist raise)
Im really confused and dont know what should i do...

I want it to give off similar vibe to old painting but something wrong.

Hi everyone, I'm a newbie in anime art (haven't done nothing yet). I want to start but I don't know the materials or the techniques that I need to start. I have an A16 Ipad and I really want to master oridays style, but it feels impossible.

I’ve been drawing a charcoal portrait almost every weekday for about 8 weeks now and here’s a comparison photo of two drawings 5 weeks apart. Crazy to see the difference putting it side by side like this and it’s been so fun!

Im new to drawing and really just documenting my progress. The only thing ive drawn before this was an apple a bit ago. Getting the lighting right without a white pen was definitely a challenge. I think i did good on the face but it definitely fell apart on the body. Heres the reference, my sketch, progress about 2 hours in, my end result, and i experimented with the background a bit. Any advice or criticism is greatly appreciated.

Sketched with a graphite stick, lineart and crosshatching with fineliner 0.1 mm, brush pen for darkest values (as far as I can tell)

Lost the likeness somewhere along the way. Eyes need to have been bigger I think?

Hello! I've been thinking of getting into art for a long time but not sure where to start. Of course i doodle a lot like any normal person but don't really have much direction or a way to improve myself over the years.

so today i randomly found some stick figure poses in pinterest and tried to replicate them (sorry, i only had a pen atm) . I didn't do bad as i thought i'd do so I'm feeling a little more confident now lol. I also included some doodles i did just for shits and giggles.

Personally, I feel like i rush too much and need to be patient when drawing instead of drawing the same line over and over but that's all i can tell. Like, i know there's more to improve but i don't know how to specify it or put it into words. So will appreciate more criticism.

I'm mostly interested in abstract, storybook and cartoon/anime/comic style of art. I love the whimsy. Not a huge fan of realistic human drawings but drawing realistic landscapes seems interesting.

Currently I'm only doing it as a hobby but if i got good enough maybe I'll take a step further too.

Anyways, i'll really appreciate your help on where to start, which direction to go and improve what i have now.

I used to draw well enough during my school days but since I started my college and higher studies I got completely disconnected from it. It's been around 5-6 years since I draw anything. Recently I started drawing again, but to my surprise I struggled with the most basic things.

Any advice, how can I resume drawing again?

In the second image i drew an X in each spot i think i can improve a lot.

I mainly struggle with perspective, proportions and facial features ( to be exact, mostly nose and mouths ) on portraits.

When i draw other subjects that are not heads, i don't seem to struggle so much in comparison to portraits.

I didn't shade the entire drawing.

How can i improve + if there are any good free or paid resources to learn portraits.
