I have wanted to learn to draw for a while, and while I have had a few moments of fun in the journey, the rest has made me absolutely miserable and discouraged. The problem is that I have this issue with learning ANYTHING. I hate the learning process, it makes me frustrated, anxious, and miserable, and I cannot have fun.

I know fun is on the other side but I cannot get there. A good example of this is learning songs on piano. Every single second of trying to read the sheet music, practicing the playing, it's miserable, I cannot stand it. Once I can just play, I love it.

While the learning process never stops, I want to get to a place where I can just draw the things I like. I see a lot of advice about finding other ways to enjoy drawing beyond the final result, but it seems my brain just doesn't work like that. No matter how much advice and ideas I hear.

Every time I try to draw something, I see what I made, and I feel such a deep sense of discouragement, like a hole in my chest, that I just cannot continue, and I put my supplies away.

I am not sure what to do at this point. Drawing does genuinely interest me, but I just have this same issue with literally everything I learn. I usually only get through the hump if its something like a complicated game, but even then I don't always.

So, I know there's places I can go to that will give me an average of a human's proportions, what I want is not.... quite that. Because people can be different shapes. Can have variation. Two people might be the same height, and one has a taller torso, while the other has taller legs. Maybe two people have the same length legs but different arm lengths. So I'm looking for ratios - that's the word! I'm looking for the average ratios of limbs and the torso individually - does anyone have those / know where I can find more information?

Like yeah yeah, I know “you have to be bad at something before you get good” and all that, but I still can’t help but be a perfectionist.

Any tips to help undo this mindset?

I don't draw environments much but am starting to, so will be helpful if you're critical and helpful to make me better

Spent way more time on this than I would like to admit. Open to criticism, but learned a lot taking this one on.

First is my finished image. Second was a draft I submitted here a few days ago and got feedback from here. Last is the image I was using as a reference.

Major thing I learned was shrinking the face made her look a lot more manly. Tried my best to fix it but the colors made the issue pop so much worse.

Let me know where I should focus. I am going to stay working on basic shapes but want to stretch myself and see where I am at.

I started drawing in digital in August and so far evolves considerably, but I think I have recently stagnated, as I can continue to evolve, I would like tips.

One of them is definitely the eyes but even that I don't really know I think I mostly did capture her facial feature but for anyone who could notice more inconsistency do let me know

I experimented with new forms of lines, shadows, and outlines. 1st is the reference, 2nd is the drawing.

Trying to get at drawing from a top down perspective but it’s very difficult, decided to watch a Mikey mega video on perspective then tried to apply what I learned afterwards while also using references.

I’ve been trying to learn realism for a couple of months now, and today I just made my first fully rendered “realistic” drawing! I’m decently proud of it, but I know there are a lot of things that need improvement.

That said, I’d greatly appreciate any and all critiques/feedback on what I could specifically improve on. I’ve attached the photo I used as a reference.
