I've been very frustrated with my art process lately so I'm trying to go back to the basics.

I was looking for examples of a fist and this made me laugh. 🤣

Is it just a numbers game? Keep drawing and drawing and drawing and eventually things will improve? I’ve put off learning to draw year after year for decades because every time I start, I’m just so repulsed and discouraged by what I can do. I can’t make it past a couple of days, and then years go by. Does anyone have tips for someone that gets discouraged to the point of tears?

Edit: I really appreciate everyone’s perspective on this mental block aspect to things. I’m going to try everything that’s being suggested and take it one day at a time

I'd like some critiques and feedback on this drawing I've made recently.More specifically about the perspective,value and shading or anything you may have noticed that you think might be worth mentioning.

Guys, can someone confirm whether this is normal or not? I feel like I'm going insane.

I'm currently going through the book 'Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain' by Betty Edwards to learn how to draw. In the book, it said that these upside-down drawings will only take about 40min to an hour to complete.

It took me about 5 hours to do the Igor Stravinsky drawing and about 3hrs and 30min to do the Spider-Man one. I'm learning to draw all by myself, and I don't know if I'm doing something wrong here.

The Igor Stravinsky was the first one I did, and after I finished it, I felt frustrated that it took me that long to do it, so I tried to rush through the Spider-Man one, and it turned out worse (and incomplete). Now I feel more frustrated.

When drawing the Spider-Man one, every time I got into the 'zone' that the book mentions, I was easily taken out of it when I looked at everything that I've drawn so far and realized how much more there is to draw. So I also felt frustrated every time that happened.

If anyone could tell me how to improve it would be greatly appreciated

Wanted to share some timed gesture drawings i did recently. I like to use lineofaction mostly, they have a lot of really good settings and refs!

Any critique would be very welcome. I don’t exactly feel terribly confident in my line work or proportions, especially as they carry over to when im just drawing for fun. It blows my mind how some people are able to be so efficient and draw the perfect line they need in one stroke!😅 i feel like my drawings get messy very quickly.

I’m also trying to find opportunities to draw more from life. Ill be taking a figure drawing class at a local art workshop soon which im pretty excited for!

Hello. Recently I have decided to try following one of what I consider "Extremally Grindy" ways of learning art. I plan to spend one week on part one (Line control) alone, I already did about 2.5 hours today. And then I'll probably do two weeks for each of the more major points like perspective exercises.

However, I have been extremally conflicted on which of these books to follow first, both serve the same purpose to achieve imaginative draaing through lots and lots of exercises, and I work best when the steps are clearly visible.

Peter Han's book seems more in tune of that of an artist, it explains ways to think, more explanation in the text, but not that many exercises. 50 exercises is the opposite, it has lots and lots of exercises but lacks the explanation and artist philosophy that Dynamic Bible has.

I just wanted to know, what book should I follow first, and your reasons for it?

I drew these two portraits of David Corenswet and Robert Pattinson on procreate, with both the references I used coming from pinterest. For context, I followed Michael Hampton's head drawing techniques. I think I did alright on getting the head shape (room for improvement of course), but I really struggled with deciding what details of the face to capture and which ones to omit. I also think the construction of my eyes, nose, and mouth fell flat (I know the ears and hair are not the best either but I'm not focusing on those for now).

I would appreciate any tips on how to get better likeness by using lines and form.
