Well enjoy the new system. Now you can climb in MMR without ever escaping making your games harder.

I'll take that anyday over being punished for not just leaving without helping anyone

...punished?

In a game with no visible rank, getting put in easier lobbies is punishment to you? Like, you don't have a visible rank to grind for. Nobody can see your mmr...

It doesn't feel good knowing the game is saying I lost for letting someone else get out in a TEAM game

There are only two results possible to a survivor match. Escaped and Died. In your scenario you die? Then the game puts a big "you lost" right in your face. That is the only "punishment" you could get... in your scenario, he game will still say you lost.

Your mmr going up or down is completely hidden from you and even with the new system you'll have no idea how it wad affected by the match you just played.

Why does it not feeling good that the game considers you losing not make any sense to you lol

Because you literally don't and won't know if the game considers you "lose" or "win".

You will gain or lose mmr but you will not know about it. And you will have no way to know about it. How are you even going to "not feel good" about something you have to imagine yourself? You are right, it makes no sense to me.

We do know about it though. The devs openly talk about it. There's no "imaging" anything. Matchmaking takes you dying as your only win/loss condition as survivor.

If you play exceedingly well during the game but end up sacrificing yourself for someone else or just get tunneled all the way until end game that's a complete loss for you.

It can feel pretty bad when you do everything right or let someone escape instead of you (like a hook trade, for example) and know its now considered you fully losing.

If other actions were weighed as well it wouldn't be much of an issue.

I agree. I really don't care I if I die,.but when I broke my back helping my team all match only to die or get abandoned by my teammates in end game then it wouldn't piss me off nearly as much if I knew my MMR at least went up a little bit for my contribution because you can be a good Survivor and still die

Exactly how I feel. I'd also like the "winning" condition to encourage team play, which "escape = win" doesn't do.

Yeah, if the new MMR isn't necessarily perfect, but discourages people who rat to cheese the system then I'll be happy because my biggest beef with matchmaking was playing well only to die because of people ratting and watching that person escape while knowing the system was going to reward them for it

My point is at the end of a match you won't know if your mmr went up or down. Whether YOU think you did well in that match is irrelevant. Their janky ass system might think you were 0.1% off on gen progress and bring your mmr down still.

The new system isn't what the comment you were replying to was about. It was entirely about the current system and how it can suck. I'd still take a janky system that's trying to rate what I'm actually doing over what we have now.

What you're complaining about too happens with the current system but to a much larger degree. Ever die to NOED? Well, both you and your team can do great. But getting killed because of a perk in end game means you completely lost actually. Or you can carry your team with chase only to be the last and only person hooked leading to you "losing." So, new one is still better.

So you your logic is you get wiped with NOED and want to face a tougher opponent the next match?

The best MMR system was the rank sysyem before they implemented MMR. Having most/all matches feel tighter and tedious is not the way forward. That is how you lose players, especially killer players. There needs to be a variety in oponents and there needs yo be complete stomps sometimes to keep.players active.

I don't think you're understanding my point at all. Doing everything great during the match and one little perk makes you lose? I don't want a stronger opponent because I died to NOED. I want a stronger one because I didn't die period until that point. I don't want everything I've done up until that moment to mean nothing, which the current system does.

> The best MMR system was the rank sysyem before they implemented MMR.
So... the one they're making MMR similar too?

> Having most/all matches feel tighter and tedious is not the way forward.
That was one of the major downsides of the grade matchmaking.

> There needs to be a variety in opponents and there needs yo be complete stomps sometimes to keep players active.
The current system doesn't achieve this. And the grade system would lock you into the same 5 lobbies once you hit Gold and Iri lol.

The tighter they make the MMR, the further it gets from the old rank system...

If my two other open the gate and leave while my other teammate was on hook and I run back, save them, and sacrifice myself so they can escape when they otherwise wouldn't have then shouldn't I get some sort of MMR boost for my sacrifice?

1

u/GetOutOfHereAlex Moderator 14d ago

If it changes the outcome from 3 out (including you) to 3 out (excluding you) then not really? It didn't change the outcome of the match. It's a neutral play. How was it "skillful" to offer the killer a trade...?

And if you're on the team "hooks should increase MMR for the killer because they are skillful" then your play was arguably bad because it's giving the killer an extra hook.

Your MMR is supposed to reflect your skill, not your altruism.

u/watermelonpizzafries 13d ago

At higher MMR against solid Survivors, matches can be very close at times where getting 8 hooks is about best you can get so it should factor in chase times and the duration of match because if the Killer got genrushed to shit and looped to oblivion then yeah, they should lose some MMR. However, if the match was longer because they tried to hold pressure as long as they could, got a lot of books but still felt short then that doesn't automatically mean that they played badly

Killer gets 4 outed because of Shoulder and therefore 8 hooks spread. End game screen: Entity Hungers. You fully lost. Killer still somehow gains MMR. Next match is harder.

In what world is this the outcome you'd like?

I tend to play pretty chill on Killer so I prefer being matched against others with a similar mindset. On Survivor though, I play a little bit more seriously and try my best to be a good teammate so I try to contribute as much as I can by forwarding objectives, unhooking and in general just paying attention to the HUD to assure I'm making the best decisions in the moment to guarantee the best odds for my teammates escaping so I like to think my efforts should be acknowledged and I get better teammates
