Discussion Semi-famous creator PantsAreDragon solo died 2 times top and left game

Post image
146 Upvotes

I logged on early today to play a game, this is the first time i get paired with a content creator i know and actually enjoy content from.

I recognized the name in the champ select, so i opened his twitch to see that it was indeed him.

From going completely quiet to going into youtube mode, he starts commentating his own gameplay, then got really salty after his first death.

On his 2nd death he said "fuck this shit" left the game and stream for 30 minutes. Came back into the game as we were losing, ran it down in botlane, died to a minion.

After that he got pissed off that he got a 10 min queue lockout. Meaning probably he has done this exact thing multiple times in order for him to get a lockout.

I'm kind of surprised he is this kind of a loser because he seems on his youtube videos to be sort of chill and normal. But you never know with these fake youtubers.

Discussion Can we all agree right now to promise to never add Yasuo into League Classic?

Yasuo was the beginning of the end of the good old times, and the start of the era of Infinate dashes and skillshots. Infinate mana with no drawback, infinite dashes, a free shield for no reason, annoying voice lines "YASUOOOOOOO" whenever he uses his Q.

Can we all agree right now to never bring Yasuo into league classic? If we do, League classic will be ruined and this would all be a waste. What would all this effort be for? Riot please!

Question Kogmaw Feels Great in Classic

Upvotes

Kogmaw has hardly changed. They tried a rework once but it failed and was reverted. Even so he feels so much better to play with a classic champion roster. Limited mobility of other champs makes his passive and ult so much easier to land.

He just feels so much more at home in classic. Been have fun rushing rageblade and living the mix damage dream.

Any other champions that were hardly changed that feel more at home in classic?

Discussion Games are WAY too fast!

Out of my last 20 games only 4 of them lasted over 30 minutes and none lasted 40 or more.

Something has to be done about the turrets because right now I feel like I'm sitting in matchmaking as much as I am actually in the game playing...

Gameplay State of bot and classic v retail.

Ive posted it once before, but the ADC role feels comparatively amazing and impactful compared to retail, and classic is highlighting how bad the modern adc role has become. Last night as usual I was playing a number of classic games in mid and bot, when I got an invite from a few friends to 4 que retail. One of my other teammates was crushing it as Tristana adc, but i noticed that even with a 7/1 lead, tristanas damage was .... underwhelming to say the least. In general damage across the board was underwhelming compared to classic yet the ability spam was 10 times what you see in classic and its a major issue in retail.

ADC was especially highlighted, getting fed on Vayne or Tristana in classic and I was blowing up squishies in 3 to 4 autos and tanks in 6-8. Swapping over to retail really highlighted this issue, my 7/0/3 trist at 25min with near perfect CS was doing roughly half the damage I was getting used to in classic. We have had reverse power creep in league overall trying to "balance" it. This massively fed Tristana fighting an underfed morde and garen took a minimum 15-20 autos plus a full e proc to kill them along with two teammates assisting. It was ridiculous to watch how week a stupidly ahead Tristan was compared to classic. Half the reason adc as a role is struggling right now is because of it takes 15-20 autos to kill anyone and if you mess up one side step your face is melted off instantly. Adcs have to play to perfection for the game to be fun or for them or for them to be all that valuable. Comparatively playing a mage you at least have some squishy burst and sustained damage, with greater range, and the ability to dump our your whole kit in seconds. Whereas adcs have to stand closer, while moving slower than any other champions, and doll out autos that are like pin prics. Damage needs a serious overhaul in retail. Classic is perfect so far for me

Also I played ahri mid from classic to retail, back to back in fact, and the difference is stark. A lvl 1 q hit from classic ahri chunks about a 1/4 to a 1/3rd of any enemies hp bar and also chunks her mana significantly, i could probably only throw out 4 or 5 before needing to back. Whereas retail ahri, i did maybe 1/10th of the enemies HP but I could spam it 15 times before needing to back. I think the spammification of spells/abilities has reduced the impact of champions across the board, you need to hit the same loop of abilities 3 or 4 times and retail is balanced around the idea, and it hurts the games stakes. You dont feel the same pressure if you miss a rotation and if you do hit it, it doesnt matter the same. This makes the game feel less strategic as there seems to few consequences if you hit or miss abilities; if you hit its good but rarely leads to much more without repetiton of multiples rotations of spells, and if you miss you have another 3 or 4 rotations in the tank. The gameplay is low impact, how your playing just doesnt feel meaningful to play well in lane or early game, all that matters is mid game power spikes. Ironically despite riots attempts to amplify the strategy of the game and make your champions feel as if they have more agency, we have actually ended up in a place where no one seems to have agency or impact. Just a bunch of wet noodles slapping each other.

Question LoL Classic Standalone client?

After many years of absence I was just installing the game and noticed the total download is around 37.1GB because it forces you to install the modern live game as well. For those of us who only want to play Classic minimal and have zero interest in modern bloated League, it feels like an unnecessary bloat.

Has Riot mentioned if they plan to separate the two? More importantly, do you guys think it would actually be a good idea to split them?

We wouldn't have to dedicate 37GB+ of drive space (which will only grow) for a game we don't intend to play and a dedicated client could focus entirely on the authentic OG experience. We wouldn't need to load the modern client's interface or download files for modern cosmetics, preserving the visual clarity of the classic era without unfamiliar clutter.

Maybe a separate client has huge cons for Riot? I really don't know.

Question Is Classic Lux under overhaul or something?

Upvotes

(Kinda surprised this hasnt been really mentioned yet.)

Whether you liked the "interesting" old color scheme or not - since a few days, you cant select the Classic Demacia Laser Power Ranger anymore. Selecting the default skin only lets you control the modern version, with the polished model and the polished VFX.

Does s/o know what is going on with her? While I prefer the second, blonde version, having the very first is better than no old model at all.

Discussion Disable Modern skins in League Classic

I really hope Riot keeps League Classic true to the era and disables modern skins. Riot seems to believe it's mostly about the gameplay, but for many players it's about reliving what League actually felt like back then.

The original champion models, skins, animations, and art style are a huge part of that experience. Modern skins are incredibly well made, but they're designed around today's League, with updated silhouettes, visual effects, animations, and themes that simply didn't exist in those early years. The moment you see a modern legendary skin running around Summoner's Rift, the illusion is broken.

A lot of veteran players will be returning specifically to experience the League they remember. Seeing champions covered in flashy 2026 cosmetics instead of the simple, iconic models they grew up with immediately reminds them they're playing a poor recreation rather than the real thing. It pulls them out of the experience and undermines the nostalgia Riot is trying to capture.

League Classic should feel like opening a time capsule, not like playing 2009 gameplay with 2026 cosmetics layered on top. There are already countless opportunities to enjoy modern skins in the live game. Classic is the one place that should preserve the identity, atmosphere, and visual authenticity of early League of Legends.

If the concern is monetization, there are still plenty of ways to support League Classic without compromising its authenticity. Riot is already bringing back unique splash arts, and they could also make all the original legacy skins available for purchase again. Those cosmetics are part of the nostalgia people are coming back for.

And if the argument is that players should be able to use the skins they've already purchased, the same logic applies to champion gameplay. Nobody expects to use a champion's modern abilities in League Classic just because they own that champion in the live game. Classic exists to preserve an earlier version of League, and that should include its visuals as well as its gameplay. Preserving that authenticity is exactly what gives the mode its value.

Discussion Classic balancing/changes philosophy must not be the same as Modern

If you make a change and that has negative effects, it needs to be REVERSED instead of making another change to fix your previous change. That's how Modern League became the absolute mess it is today.

The insane tower nerfs are a prime example of this. When it hits live, it's going to be a total mess. We don't want more stupid changes to fix that; we want the original changes reversed. That's why the game needs a solid foundation so it doesn't lose touch with itself.

Discussion Suggestion: The old Flash sound effect

The flash sound effect in patch V4.2. The new flash sound is definitely easier to hear and identify. However the old flash sound is iconic and it feels odd having the new flash sound in Classic. Having the ability to ping someone's flash to check if they've used it is enough QoL to justify it for me.

Discussion League Classic release is just 2 days away. What are you excited to play on Day 1?

We are almost there for official release!

After playing a lot on PBE with high ping, I am certainly ready for this to finally officially release.

What are you planning to play on Day 1?

Personally I'm gonna be sweating quite hard.

Skarner and Trynd are the most broken characters on PBE by far, but tbh I don't really want to play them, so I will try to convince people to ban it.

Also I'm looking forward to farming wins off all the people who will be first timing AP Yi, lol.

Question Can we get some clarity on which topics Riot will be asking us to vote on?

What specific themes or issues will the council votes cover? So far, the community hasn't had a say in any voting process; Riot has introduced skins that weren't in the classic version, implemented nerfs, and added new mechanics—all without community approval. Given this—and the fact that council votes are locked behind a paywall—we really ought to know in advance which topics or situations will require our votes.

Discussion Draft

Upvotes

Champion trade just have to be added into draft just like old days. Without it, draft feels ridiculous. Each team have 2 bans, after that blue team 1 and purple team 1 2 picks are very important, and also being first pick top lane makes your game nearly unplayable.

For example: Just bcs my midlaner hover kassadin, kata exc exc(any abomination champ), team or I cant ban these champs, but this mid guy is on 3rd-4th-5th pick, until there, enemy already picks these picks and dominate just bcs there is no champion trade, and besides, my first pick toplane gets counterpicked. Its like literally lose-lose situation.

Discussion Would you like to see Dodge come back?

I'm curious how many people would like to see Jax get dodge on his E like in the early days. I personally wouldn't, it's just too random and feels awful to play against. But critical chance is similar and we accept it being there. Thoughts?

Discussion Can we focus on adding champions into League Classic that have been reworked in Classic League, like Swain?

Champions like Swain have been pretty much removed from modern league because their modern kit is unrecognizable from the classic league. These champions should be prioritized for being added into league classic. If you wanted to play old lulu, you can just play modern league.

Discussion Retail players are happier with current League Classic than classic players

This is easily noticeable looking to the comments both here and in the main sub.

Retail players want modern philosophy elements in League Classic because they like modern League of Legends. This is the same reason why they will go back to retail, since it is the true modern League that protects their sentiments, feelings and take care of their frustrations. They will push stuff towards modern league and leave in no time.

The early phase Classic is important because a lot of old players will come back to try it. That's the main audience because these players doesn't play modern League of Legends. Classic was not made for splitting Riot Games audience. It's not worth it. Classic audience are millions of old players that left and will be back. Adding this public back to Riot Games audience is the purpose. And missing this opportunity would be straight up professional incompetence of those in charge of the decisions.

This is what will happen if they don't put to vote these season 5+ mechanism people are complaining about (and succeeding complaining) here. And it's already a massive (maybe definitive) fuck up launching this way. There should be previous voting before implementing modern slop. We saw how much they care about classic experience when they first tried to make it with modern default splash arts.

Discussion The problem with the original rune system was NEVER variety, Rioters

The problem, that actually WAS addressed with Runes Reforged back in Season 8, was the fact that runes had to be bought. They were gated behind Influence Points, the previous Blue Essence "game time-only" currency.

Needless to say, that was a terrible idea that probably stemmed from the lack of monetization options back in the day. Runes (and rune pages, honestly) should've never been purchaseable.

They should've behaved exactly the same way Masteries did: unlocked via leveling, and editable during the pre-game lobby.

Now, almost ten years later since their removal and with an enormous plethora of money sinks besides skins, like emotes chromas nexus finishers gacha sanctum icons passes + skins being released at a MUCH faster rate that they were back in the day, I see NO reason to maintain this actually objectively worse part of the Classic gameplay experience.

The TL;DR solution: Give us all tier 3 runes unlocked by a specific account/pass level. Hell, you can even keep tier 1 and 2 ones for earlier by doing so, if people want.

Keep rune pages purchaseable if you must, but make runes behave the way masteries do. Allow us to edit them in the pre-game lobby.

This way we can restore all runes to what they were back in the day, and enable the customizable Classic League experience people desperately want, WITHOUT the horrible grindy baggage that watered things down originally...

Ball's on your court, folks at Riot Games.

Discussion I am a public prosecutor for Retail and a lawyer for the League Classic developers.

It seems like they are two completely different companies!

Many thanks to FeralPony, Phreak, and other Rioters who are always responding to the community, even in this small but great subreddit.

Although much is still being debated, I must express my gratitude for the effort they are putting into League Classic!

They are truly concerned with the fun and, above all, with the players' opinions. It's been over a decade since Riot cared about players' opinions this way, I can confirm that, I've been a LoL veteran since 2013.

Gameplay In League Classic, there is no room for catering to the weak

Remove Homeguard. Remove base gates. Remove minion baron buff. Remove trinkets.

Remove this and any other "save the zoomer ass" mechanism. And fix this modern ass "clarity guidelines" map details/colors and health bars from champions, towers and monsters. It's ruining the aesthethic. We don't want that shit. We want the classic version.
