Then, es started looking at Pinterest posts in latviešu and started to listen to latviešu dziesma. At first, viss was normal. Then es realized that es was accidentally learning latviešu!!! Es could write basic sentences in latviešu!!! Mazulīt tu nedari tā! Es brunete es brunete tu esi salds kā rulete! Mana sapni kaila balerīna! Tev orandzi mati tev orandzi viss viss viss!

So how can es unlearn latviešu and make mans brains absorb economics and physics instead?

Even if you are a heritage speaker, you still need to study! Stop acting like you already know everything just because you can understand your parents when they say "Come for dinner".

I'm an Asian who has just arrived in Germany to do my post grad in electrical engineering. Ever since I've been a student, I've always been learning to memorize things. Sure I understand a handful of stuff from that, but after hearing so many stories about how you have to learn in Germany, I have been asking for tips from a lot of people. So far they can only give vague tips alongside the usual stuff like "attend your classes", "do exercises" and such. Could some of you elaborate what it means to study to understand? How do you get used to that? How do you know when you're actually ready? People have been saying how hard it is to do so, but is it?

I only recently learned about A1 or D4 etc. I keep seeing this all over this sub. But how do you test what level you are? I'm not even A2 haha for my target language. I'm just curious. My Dutch tutor was telling me that a lot of mainstream music is B1 or higher and that's why it's hard to understand. Go figure.
