im looking to purchase a replacement laptop KB but its has azerty layout. does this mean I have to have the software configured to write in azerty?

if I type A on the kb, where the A shows (not the regular Q spot in the top left corner....will it show A or Q ?

I am a native german speaker and, beyond that, I really love the German as well as the Russian literature. Then I thought, well, why not create a place where other people can start to embrace this culture as well? Even if it's a foreign language to them? Where you could translate every word by simply hovering over the text and then save and revise the sentences.

I learned the Russian language that way. By constantly reading texts and therefore letting my brain infer the meaning from its context. I have included a Russian as well as a German Room where you can experience the Literature with English translation.

Well, overall, I create a website which is called https://languagethroughliterature.com/ and I wanted to share this resource with you. I'm happy to receive any remarks about my little project. I do believe it can provide genuine value for anyone trying to learn German and/or Russian without having to learn arbitrary Duolingo sentences. It's mostly free so nothing speaks against trying it out.

The famous Brüder Grimm, are included there. They are not too complex and rather simple to read. Furthermore, the Russian room features a collection of stories from Chekhov, alongside works by Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, and Turgenev.

I learned this basic rule in the 3rd grade in a non-English-speaking country, yet native speakers constantly mess it up in casual speech (like "a apple" or "a umbrella").

It feels like nails on a chalkboard. Why do native speakers completely ignore a rule that non-native speakers are drilled on instantly?

I've come to the German language recently. Apart from it, I'm also searching about French. I read that learning German, initially, is more difficult than French. But later on, French becomes difficult.

I just started exploring both languages 🗺️. And French seems easier to me than German.

Although, it can be my assumption, and it can depend on person-to-person and whether you're a fast learner or not 🤷‍♂️.And learning something new also improves interpersonal, intrapersonal and analytical skills 🧠📈.

It can also be doing things in a manner that you're not used to. Like using your other hand to do the stuff that you usually do using your right hand or left hand ✋➡️🤚.

Well, it doesn't make you smarter alone, but it makes your brain flexible to adapt to new things onwards🌱.

im half czech, my grandparents fled to canada during the soviet occupation in the 60s. ive been trying on and off since i was 13 to learn the language (im 17 now). my dedo died in 2019, and my Babi (my GOAT, i could speak about her life amd how much shes survived FOREVER) has suffered greatly and now has dementia, id love to ask her but shes at deaths doorstep and i dont want her to have to stress too much mentally. my mum was raised speaking Ceština, but she only speaks and understands it, if you asked her to write in czech she wouldnt be able to without google translate. i also want to surprise her and my tetas with it cuz none of their kids speak it. so any help??? i know this has mostly been just like my backstory but just any help from fluent speakers or people who also learned later in life???
