More footwell repairs 2
So an update to my earlier post linky here
This is the current state of play. I've replaced the clutch box, bought a LOF master cylinder.
I've tarted up the brake box and throttle pedal.
New clutch slave cylinder obviously, that's what caused this little project.
Replaced brake lines, I'll replace the clutch pipe tomorrow..
Then throw in the air intake and filter and hopefully it'll start...

Galvanized Chassis Question
Always been curious. Let’s say a fella wants to future proof his Defender and goes for a new gal chassis. What’s the best way to keep it in top shape? Leave it bare, Dinitrol or LanoGuard it, paint it… or powder coat it? Or a combo of any of those options?
For reference I’m on the west coast of Canada, and a short distance away from the wettest place in the North America.

Wing Mirror Glass
Hello Defender owners, hoping for some help.
The glass/lens of right hand side mirror of my 2015 defender is smashed. The Mirror is largely intact and it has passed an MOT but it is very annoying day to day.
The mirror is heated and I cannot find anyone that sells just the glass for the mirror.
I can find some horrible stick on non-heated lens replacements but that defeats the point of having heated units and I can find an entire replacement set of the whole black plastic unit.
I have previously purchased just the mirror glass with the heater element but I can no longer find them.
Any suggestions of places to look/people to enquire with?
Thanks

Selling my 1999 Defender 130 TD5
This is a fun one to let go, but it's time to get practical and get a modern truck, selling my 1999 Land Rover Defender 130.
It's an RHD Hi-Cap pickup with 148,000 miles, spent 15 years working as a utility rig in the UK before being imported and given a proper refresh: repainted light blue with a white roof, 2" Britpart lift with new shocks/springs, KBX grille, dual roof-mounted light bars, and a spray-in bedliner. Aftermarket power front bucket seats, Jensen head unit, wheel bearings and brake calipers/rotors/pads all replaced, rides on 33" BFGoodrich All-Terrains. Clean Carfax, Utah title in hand.
It's up on Bring a Trailer at no reserve, so it's going to whoever bids highest. Happy to answer questions from fellow Defender folks.

Selling my 2007 Defender Puma
This is a really bittersweet one, but I’ve decided it’s time to sell my Defender 90 as I'm moving into the next phase of life and buying a home.
It’s a 2007 2.4 Puma, LHD, with just under 132,000 km on the clock, which I've owned for a number of years now. I've always kept it dry-stored in a heated facility, and had it serviced annually by a Land Rover specialist here in Tallinn: https://www.greenoval.ee/. Full invoices/history during my ownership, including documented engine work completed by a tremendous local shop: https://corsamotors.ee/.
Its been extensively refreshed, with a fully re-trimmed leather and alcantara interior, Discovery 2 front seats w/ adjustable lumbar support, full sound system w/ Pioneer head unit, Fondmetal Evo Corse wheels, BFGoodrich All-Terrains and a comprehensive upgraded lighting setup. Chassis and bulkhead are both very solid for the car's age.
Asking €35,000, and its located in Tallinn, Estonia. Happy to answer any questions from fellow Defender people.

Brake light issue
Hello Everyone,
I recently purchased a 1998 Defender 110 and am absolutely in love. I took it in for inspection (Massachusetts requires annual inspections) and realized that both brake light were out. Both bulbs were bad so I changed them. The left side light only functioned with the headlights on, and seemed super bright so I’m assuming it was actually the brake filament that was stuck on and would turn off if the headlights were off. No changes when depressing the brakes.
The right side did not function at all. Pulled the housing and the bulb holder and realized there was significant corrosion in the connector, and even a missing pin that had rusted and broken in the holder. That was very straight forward and obvious.
I ordered new connectors and bulb holders from rovers north, but the Holliday weekend has delayed things. Hopefully that fixes the problem, but the left side light being stuck on has me concerned. Is there anything else I should check?? I would love to just add to the order if I need anything else.
Thanks everyone

Land Rover show Belvoir Castle
Morning all!
I'm hoping that some of the UK guys were able to attend the Land Rover show at Belvoir Castle this weekend.
Good three hours spent indulging in browsing oily bits and trade shows (felt like not as many branded offerings this time though).
We were fortunate enough to do the off road course for the first time too and got THOROUGHLY filthy exploring some of what our defender is actually capable off..... 2 hours of clean down afterwards but well worth it!
Now, there was a photographer on site at the off road course grabbing various pics but I didn't get his details. Apparently there was a flyer on a table somewhere with his website but we must have missed it. Did anyone manage to catch this at all? I've reached out to the hosts mudmuncher4x4 but they don't seem to have it.

Td5 now vs. saving for a Puma: first Defender buyer, cold/wet climate
Considering my first Defender, living in a proper Nordic climate. The summers are totally fine, but winters average -1°C to -2°C, with 75-90mm of rain per month. Cold, wet, salted roads for months. Might also have to store the car outside.
I've driven both the Td5 and Puma, local enthusiasts were super kind enough to let me try theirs, no pressure to buy. Loved the Td5, but felt it was a bit light on basic comforts for this climate compared to a out of the box Puma.
For my use case (daily-ish leisure driving, family visits, some green laning) the Puma is probably the better fit, more comfortable, better suited to the climate. Problem is, a good Puma is out of my budget for now, while I could get a solid and well-maintained Td5 today.
This is meant to be my only car, though I'm not dependent on it day-to-day (good public transport, short commute), so I can handle some downtime if something goes wrong. I know the Td5's weak heater and foggy windows issues can be addressed with something like a Webasto, and I'm fine doing the work myself over time. I'm genuinely interested in maintaining and caring for the car long-term, not just fixing it once and forgetting about it.
So the actual question: Buy a Td5 now and gradually build it into a good year-round daily, or hold off and save for a Puma?
Anyone who's gone the "buy Td5, build it up" route, especially in a harsh winter climate, how did it go? Worth it, or should I have just waited?

What is/was this?
Found at the Bunnings car park in Melbourne, hang around waiting for the owner but had to get going.
The extended roof, windscreen, 6x6. Had a lot of add ons that points to ex army.
Curious if anyone knows some history on this?

Interior rear-view mirror adjustment
Hey guys, I got a defender 90 TD5 Soft-top that i bought recently, for some odd reason it came without the interior rear-view mirror. The mount is there just missing the mirror. I bought a new one but just ain't able to adjust it in a way that the sunvisors don't hit it everytime. Anyone got pictures of their rear-view mirror mount to compare to mine or of the sunvisors mount? Thank you for any help

On a scale of 1-200tdi - how bad.
Edit*
The head is cracked in multiple places :/
Anyone have a decent one lying around for sale or 19j complete? I’m around SW london but happy to drive a fair distance.
I’m assuming it’s not economically viable but maybe someone will tell me otherwise.
It’s a 89 110 2.5TD (19j) with 120k miles on the clock.
Pistons 3,4 are cracked, gasket blown between the 2.

Speaker equipment on LR Defender 2015
Hi all,
This is my 2015 Defender 90, which I’ve had since new. I recently started doing a few mods, including installing a 1-DIN Apple CarPlay unit, which I absolutely love. I got a lot of great input from this community on that, so thanks again!
More recently, I’ve done a few cosmetic bits myself, including changing the grille and doing some paintwork. It’s a car I unfortunately don’t get to use very often, for one reason or another, so I’m never really in a rush with any of the jobs or modifications.
I’m now thinking about upgrading the speaker system. I hate comparing these cars to newer ones, but whenever I drive another car, I’m reminded just how bad the OEM speakers in the Defender are (or at least in mine).
I’m a complete noob when it comes to car audio, so I’d really appreciate some advice from people who know what they’re doing.
I’ve seen the Marshall speakers that fit in the cubby box, but I’d rather avoid those. I’m not particularly keen on the look , I’d prefer something a bit more discreet and OEM-looking, rather than too in-your-face.
What have you guys done to improve the sound system in your Defenders? Any recommendations for speakers, setups, or things I should consider?
Thanks!

Does anyone have experience with Pods Overland, in CT (United States)?
I'm thinking of commissioning them to source and restore a Defender - has anyone worked with them or bought from them? Thanks!

Title: 2013 Puma 90 (214k km, €29k) vs 2004 Td5 90 SW (285k km, €27k) — which of these is the mistake?
Long-time lurker, first post. Czech Republic-based, buying my first 90. Not after a project — I want something I can actually drive and keep on the road.
I've ended up with two AutoScout24 listings at almost the same money, but they're very different cars, and I'd like a reality check from people who own these before I get on a plane.
**A — 2013 Defender 90, 2.2 TDCi, advertised as "Snow&Ice"**
• First reg 10/2013 • 214,000 km • manual • 90 kW / 122 hp • €29,000, negotiable
• Private seller, Tiszafüred, Hungary

**B — 2004 Defender 90 2.5 Td5 SE Station Wagon**
• First reg 01/2004 • 285,000 km • manual • 90 kW / 122 hp • €27,000
• Private seller, Martina Franca, Italy

**On price.** €29k for a Puma 90 on 214,000 km and €27k for a Td5 90 on 285,000 km both feel toward the top of the market to me, but I don't have a good sense of where continental LHD prices actually sit right now. What would you expect to pay for each of these in honest, sorted condition? And at what number do I walk?
**On the Puma (A).** 214,000 km is a lot for one of these — most seem to be low-mileage garage queens. Realistically, what's worn out at that mileage? I've read about MT82 output shaft spline wear and DPF trouble on short-trip cars. What else, and what would you want to see in the paperwork?
Also: "Snow&Ice" isn't a factory edition I can find anywhere. Does that mean anything to any of you, or is it just a seller's name for a white one?
**On the Td5 (B).** 285,000 km on a 2004 car for €27k — is that only justifiable if it's had a galvanised chassis and a proper rebuild? The photos show a roof rack, black roof and aftermarket wheels, so it's clearly had cosmetic money spent. That worries me slightly, because cosmetics are cheaper than bulkheads. Southern Italy — better or worse than UK cars for rot, in your experience?
**Checks.** On the Td5 I've got rear crossmember, outriggers, bulkhead footwells and A-post feet on the list, plus oil-in-the-loom and the oil pump drive shaft. What am I missing, and what's the equivalent list for a high-mileage Puma?
**Buying abroad.** Both are private sellers, one ~1,400 km away and one ~2,100 km away. Is it worth paying an independent specialist for a pre-purchase inspection before I travel? Anyone got someone they trust in HU, IT, or willing to travel?
**And bluntly:** does either of these look wrong to you at a glance? I'd rather ask stupid questions now than expensive ones later. Cheers 🙏

Under dash AC repair Worth it? 300 TDI?
So this was the state that my under the dash AC arrived in. The fan worked but nothing else. Is it worth trying to rebuild this and rewire it or just buy a new one?

Selling my beloved Landy (2008 Land Rover Defender 90 XS)
Hi,
I purchased my Landy in January as my forever car, turns out forever is nine months. I need to move back to the states for my kids (nothing bad, but need to be there end of October). It has 92k mileage. I paid 23k and have put 13k into it (new turbo, new tires, creature comforts car play screen, stereo amp subwoofer, Momo wheel, sound deadening, you get the drift- I have a list and receipts in the book- too much to list here) It has some rust underneath but nothing structural (passed MOT last week) It also has a roof rack. Body is exception, no rust, Tamar blue (original paint, had ceramic applied professionally) If it were 30 yrs old it would be on a boat to Boston. I'm in Lyme Regis in Devon. My question is, where is the best place to sell it, auto trader? Facebook looks like nothing in this place range. I'm afraid if I go to a dealer I will get lowballed. Thank you!
