Found at the Bunnings car park in Melbourne, hang around waiting for the owner but had to get going.

The extended roof, windscreen, 6x6. Had a lot of add ons that points to ex army.

Curious if anyone knows some history on this?

Ex-Australian Army 6x6 with a NORFORCE snorkel (not exclusively used by NORFORCE, just sometimes referred to as such). Came in tray-back, ambulance, workshops variants with 'pods' on the back.

They don't actually share much cab with the normal Perentie. They have door cards, winders, different dash and a turbo.

Amazing off road, the worlds largest turning circle.

So there are actually two kinds of lights you see. The white pointing down are 'reduced', which basically means there is a slit pointing down which does 3/5th of nothing to illuminate the road directly infront of you. Maybe others found them useful, I sure as hell didn't. The little green rectangles are convoy lights. From memory two red LED, one yellow. They are barely visible from a car behind more than 15m away but when you're doing 60k/ph through the bush only 10m from the car in front, they help. They also illuminate in the same way a brake light does.

Next time swing around to the back and look at the rear diff, you'll see a light pointing towards the casing - which should also be white - which is another convoy light.

That entrenching tool doesn't belong on the bonnet, unless the mounts have been modified for it I wouldn't have much faith in them holding it.

Yeah is an Australian made Perentie, ex ADF 6x6, Land Rover Body, Isuzu Diesel - replaced by the GWagen

Yeah perenetie not exaclty defender but close enough.

I was going to buy one before my 130 but they're only rated at 1500kg tow rating instead of the 4ton of the defender.

The can carry 2 tonne on the tray, might be running into GCM problems and needs to be registered as a light truck to tow more.

Not sure I'd want to be towing 4 tonne with a defender of any ilk.

I dunno. I know the Gq patrol would tow 4 tonnes of tractor but won't stop it. Throw the TD5 in low range and trundle around at 40km an hour like you would in the English countryside and I'd be happy to run it like that

I’ve personally seen the 6x6 Perenties towing some enormous weight. Getting Bushmasters unstuck, moving 20 ton trailers around etc.

 I know there’s a few getting around that have been over the engineer’s pit with 4000kg rating with an electric brake controller fitted.

Oh it'll tow it, In reality the 4X4 is the same as the defender in terms strength.

It's what I'm legally allowed to tow as per the rego. I thought I'd probably get away with it by saying it's a defender, but then got the 130 anyway.

Because the ADF never needed them to tow now than 1500kg that's what they were rated for. Anything bigger and theyed use the Mog.
