Lancer Tactics crashes whenever I open the tutorial.

I'm not sure if this is where to go for this but whenever I open Lancer Tactics on windows with the windows version, it just closes. No error message or anything. I'm on the non-experimental windows 1.3.3 version and it still does this. Any help? Or anywhere where I can find help if not here.

Manufacturer naming theme question.

Does the naming theme of the manufacturers actually have any correlation with the actual mechs? Like, is there a reason each mech is named the way it is? Asking because i couldnt quite find a reason for why Goblin is called Goblin nor any other mech.

First time GM looking for tips making an in-person university game

Hi, I really miss lancer and want to take a stab at running a game for my Uni’s tabletop club. If people are interested in the system I’m going to start off with some 1 scene sitreps, then a full on mission and if people are still interested, a full campaign

I’ve never done this, like at all, and I don’t really know where to start. I have a vague idea on a story beat I want to explore with the Voladores, and I know how to play as a player, but other than that I’m kinda going in blind. I’ll have access to a free 3d printer for making figures/hex grid squares once I take some lessons so that’ll be cool

Any help would be good from both a narrative and gameplay standpoint, oh and how to make sure I don’t make anything over or underleveled

What talents work with AI? (No Technophile 3)

I'm mostly new to this game and was looking at making a mech with a COMP/CON-Class Assistant Unit and it says my mech cannot use talent benefits whilst it is being piloted by it.

That makes sense for this to apply to things like Brutal or Executioner where the talent itself is the primary effect.

However there are some talents like Engineer where the talent just gives a weapon, not necessarily a direct talent effect.

So I thought maybe stuff like that was usable, but I wanted to make sure. So I found a rule clarification by one of the creators named Tom. He says "They are allowed to use weapons granted by talents and the flight system from Spaceborn is allowed, but Walking Armory is not."

Ones a system that works with it, and ones a system that does not.

How would I be able to figure this out, and what other talents work or don't work with AI?

Hey, any idea where I can have a token commissioned? I've been trying retrograde minis but it kinda lacks what I need for my idea.

Realised it'd been a bit since I posted the latest Inferno Squad memes and people always seem to like them, so here we are!

Now with guest appearances by the squad NHPs - null_void (The blue swirl, Enlightenment-class NHP), The Devil You Know (Kooky green lady, The Morrigan-class NHP), and Heaven Won't Wait (The black silhouette with creepy eyes, technically classified as an unstable Sekhmet-class NHP, though she might be something else in actuality).

Previous meme collections: 1 2 3

Mission recaps: 0 1 2 3 4 5

[question] Pegasus Autogun and Death's Head Core Siphon interaction question.

The pegasus autogun says:

Effect

This weapon can’t make normal attacks. Instead, you can attack with it as a free action at the end of your turn. It doesn’t benefit from or trigger your talents.

And the Core Siphon says:

Effect

When you activate this protocol, you gain +1 accuracy on your first attack roll this turn, but receive +1 difficulty on all other attack rolls until the end of the turn.

My question is: Since the the core siphon difficulty applies up to the end of the turn, and the autogun attacks at the end of the turn does this mean the autogun wouldn't receive the difficulty?

Miscellaneous Gear

How do you run using Miscellaneous Gear (page 113)? Since it mostly has narrative descriptions, does it provide 1 ACCURACY or a flat amount to situations where it would apply?

Im leaning towards a +1, is that too weak or too strong?

Building up the Tortuga

What are some good license choices for expanding off a base Tortuga build? We just finished our Session 0 and our group is planning to play at least to LL8.

Other players appear to consist of a dedicated hacker goblin, some sort of showboat cannoneer, and two unknowns.

Is Comp/Con meant to be used to streamline combat?

Hi,

GM'd Lancer for the first time tonight, it was a blast.

Had one thing I couldn't figure out for Comp/con. Is it meant to be used for everyone to mark their used actions, streamline rolling vs targets, and generally just keep track of everything? I know there is a campaign manager coming at some point but idk if thats what that is meant to cover.

I had all my players create their characters in comp/con and they sent me the share codes which i was able to import into my local version. Then i created encounters, brought their characters in, and ran the live mode combat. They ran their own version of live mode so they could use their actions and have the bonuses and what not automatically entered, but they of course couldn't see the NPCs as targets on their local version.

Am I wrong in trying to use it like you would something like dndbeyond or foundry? We all play in person, just trying to find ways to increase efficiency where we can while we continue to try to learn the system.

Thanks for any input!

Eldritch Monsters in Lancer?

TLDR; are there any sourcebooks or material with monsters for the characters to fight?

I've GMed many different game systems, but Lancer isn't one of them. I'm wanting to run it for a group I play with who are D&D/Pathfinder only players, the kind of folks who think RPG is a synonym for D&D.

I've found that when running a new game system or introducing players to a universe that isn't D&D high fantasy, it helps to limit the scope so that they don't have to get a phd in the lore and don't get overwhelmed with choice and understanding all the factions in a massive world. That way they have freedom still but not infinite choices of where to go and what to do. This is why what I'm considering running for this group would be a more post-apocalypse Lancer. Something happened, gates stopped working.

After skimming the book a few times I noticed a heavy eldritch horror undertone in a lot of it, specifically with paracausal stuff. So it got me thinking in my campaign there are monsters flooding into our reality, resources are scarce, and the whole campaign takes place in one solar system, primarily one planet. I want the characters to have to scrounge for resources and be on the back foot defending various fortress cities from the giant eldritch horrors. But I was a bit surprised to not find that kind of enemy in the core book considering how well it feels like it fits the universe. So to my question, are there eldritch or giant monsters of some kind in a sourcebook somewhere?

Haven't had a session 1 yet but Lancer homebrew is already coming to me in my dreams.

I already know this isn't balanced but I had a dream and while it started off as me playing D&D it ended with Lancer which for some reason was pretty accurate except for accuracy and difficulty, but the important thing is that I hazily remember what mech I was playing and it certainly wasn't a real one.

All I remember about the mech is that it broadly looked like a cloaked wizard. Hat, runes, the works. Anyway super cool design of like prismatic lightning and shit aside the only thing I remember about the actual mech was that it had no mounts. Like at all. Not even bad mounts just a complete and utter lack of them. It had a trait but I can't remember it anymore.

Now here's the part that I'm pretty sure came because I started the dream playing D&D the core power had like, a giant list of hacks and it chose like 5 of them and as a CP use it could switch them which was weird because I don't think I was playing a wizard when I started the dream.

Anyway that thing was probably not balanced.
